I'm selling my Delorean!!!
Oh man...that does not sound fun / good. Make sure you take care of yourself. Oh well, Jason's gain is our loss. Congratulations. Too bad you need to divest some of the vehicles. Glad to hear Kharma is safe and sound. Very good to hear from you again. Take care.

I'm selling my Delorean!!!
Long, long time no chat. OMG...selling Sylvia! What's up with that? Hope it doesn't have anything to do with the accident (seems to be the time you went somewhat silent). Your ebay listing says new job/house? I'm sure you took your time making the decision but you spoke with such pride about her, I'm shocked to say the least. I assume Kharma is safe from the purge for the time being... Wish I had the coin lying around and I'd pick up Sylvia from you but we just got Jen a new horse (could have bought Nissan Vintage Z for less money...sniff...). Good luck with the sale and keep in touch.

280z or 280zxt for reliable wife car...
Hmm...tough one...I used my '86 Z31 as a daily driver for 8 months last year. Was great and the T-Tops were awesome through the summer. For short jaunts or 1 day trips the 240Z was the best, but any serious miles or sitting in traffic, the cushy seats of the '86 couldn't be beat. The 280Z will be more of a head turn/tongue wagger, but not sure that's what you're going for if its for your wife... Either way, welcome to the club!

Need a Bit O' Help Doing Something I Don't Want To Do
Before you set the price, do yourself a favor and get the car up on a hoist to inspect and document the underside with pictures (floors, framerails, wheel wells,etc.). If they are solid and the rust on the inside of the floorpan is just surface (could be), you can move you asking back up towards $5k.

Need a Bit O' Help Doing Something I Don't Want To Do
Hmmm...floor looks a little questionable $6k may be on the high side...

Comming from a Miata to a Datsun Z, what am I getting myself into?
You can download most of the FSM's here: http://carfiche.com/manuals022/cars/ If you are on a budget, the 280's had thicker sheet metal and withstood the elements slightly better. And they are typically a little cheaper, so a 75 may be a good way to go. You are in Cali so you should be able to find a decent starting vehicle in your range. The MOST important thing to avoid is rust. Battery trays, cowls, doglegs, floor pans, rocker panels, spare tire tubs, etc are all prime candidates. As the bodies tended to rust and the drivelines are generally bullet proof, driveline parts are readily available (although there is a lot of junk out there). Read up on members Ebay experiences (mostly bad) before you go that route as you should learn from our mistakes. Good luck and make good use of the search function. Welcome aboard.

Hi from Colorado Springs!
Good looking start. Very nice haul on parts.... Looks like some rust on the battery tray...watch out for that. Also check out the frame rails, floors, rocker panels, etc. (other common rust spots). Have fun. Nothing like cruising in the mountains on a nice summer day in your Z.

He'll probably take it back to the old family homestead back in Nova Scotia. I'll either need to drive a Z there for the photo op or try and hook on to Matthew Lombardi who grew up a couple of miles down the road from my farm...

How to get better fuel economy?
As an odd reference point, I just hired a Brit to join my company and he can't wait to by a truck with a monster engine because fuel in North America is so "bloody" cheap... All things are relative...so fill up the Z's and get out there...things could be worse fuel could much, much higher and you could be stuck in a snow bank...darn...
