2+2?
Mimi... Although though not as desirable, the nice thing about 2+2's is that they are significantly cheaper and tend not to have had the crap beat out of them to the same extent. The silver '87 300ZX below is my daily driver. It is a 2+2 NA automatic (I do wish it was stick, may convert that at some point). Although it is has some decent miles behind it (220,000 kms - 137,000 mi), it is near mint and drves like it was brand new. Glad to see you kept the little yellow '73. If you transplant, are you going to drop something else in the '73? Cheers,

Help with transission
Ser, Sorry...just being cheeky. I hope you stick with the Z. I'd go the route of a used tranny if I were in your shoes. The downside to Z's is rapidly disintegrating bodies (particularly up here in Canada, not so bad where you are...). The upside is a typically bullet proof drive train as long as the car isn't beat up. The abundance of orphaned drive train components due to rust, rot and wrecks means that costs are pretty low (hence why a number of us make this a hobby/passion/obsession). Good luck and let us know how you do... Cheers,

Great story. Can't wait to see the final product. Driving it home?

Daily Driver
True...but you might be putting in a equal amount on an old car. Right now my summer DD (I live in Canada) is an '87 300ZX 2+2 bought because it was near mint and in that configuration it wouldn't have the crap beat out of it (tranny was rough and did need a rebuild though...). Just a lot more fun than a '97 Geo Prizm (no offense). Make sure the basics are right (no rust, but you're in Cali...shouldn't be much...) and have fun with a summer Z. Cheers,

Fuel mixture problem...fpr???
Darb, In case you're looking for it, carfiche.com has the service manual available for free download on its site (if it reads TnA, it's temporarily not available as they cycle which manuals are up every hour...just keep checking): http://carfiche.com/manuals021/cars/ Good luck on getting her going. It's going to be a great weekend for a run around lake Michigan... Cheers,

Buyer Beware!
Dean, The car looks great. We should get together and have a beer to commiserate. Bought a "rust free, ready to go" '71 Z out of Michigan (should have been first watch out). Got it back here (I'm just north of Toronto) and needed to patch frame rails, battery. Bottom of both door are rotted out (passenger side can be fixed), and the bottom of the floors have surface rust (but no rot yet...). Also needed to redo (brace yourself): complete front end, brakes (master cylinder, brake booster), cooling system (water pump, rad), clutch (master cylinder, slave culinder), u-joint, horns. Bought for $4,300 US. Put in almost another $5k to date in the work above. Still have to paint and do the doors. I didn't get anywhere going after the guy who sold the vehicle. Still not sure if he mis-represented the car intentionally or was just an idiot (or both...a distinct possibility). But I have a car that drives, goes straight and pulls strong. (Picking up some cool vintage JDM racing wheels tomorrow ). I'm still schizophrenic about the car. When I take it out, it gets noticed and people genuinely like it. I love driving it, but when I find something that was misrepresented, ugh... As an aside, are you a member of the Ontario Z Car Owner's Association. You should come check out one of the events or meetings. (Big tour of Z's up to Huntsville and back this Saturday). PM me and we'll grab that beer. Mike A.

Unidentified Rim
All this info is awesome...just bought all 4...with new rubber (BFG Radial TA's)...$425 Canadian...I think I did o.k....
-
Unidentified Rim
Apparently they are JDM. They are marked 7-jj-x14 with 0 off set, but don’t seem to have an identifiable brand.

Unidentified Rim
Any thoughts on this? I haven't been able to find it anywhere and I can't make out the center cap. Thanks,

Mystery center caps
Full marks for Arne...Western Wheels 14 x 5.5... Now to figure out the darn caps...

Mystery center caps
I'll pull a wheel off today and see if I can get a brand or somthing...

Mystery center caps
Has anyone ever seen center caps such as these? They came with the wheels (photo) on my '71 Z when I bought it. Any idea what they might be? My appraiser suggest American Racing but wasn't sure. I haven't pulled the wheels off yet to check their brand (being a little lazy I guess). Any thoughts are appreciated.
