Lots of looks, but not many bids on my 71.
Your honesty is to be commended. I wish the seller of my 240Z had been a little more like you. Outside of the floors, you have a very nice car. Fix the floors and you could get good money for it. With the floors as they are, it will scare away most buyers. The people who will consider it are likely looking for a significant discount so they can fix up and re-sell. I'd highly suggest doing the fix but up to you. Good luck with the sale.

hello to all "72" 240Z
Hi Dave, Welcome to the board. Always good to have another Canuck on the board. Where are located? Make liberal use of the search function as anything but the most arcane queries have likely been asked and answered.

tHINKING OF BUYING A '88 300ZX N/A AUTO
As an owner of a Z31 with an automatic: 1. The automatics tended not to get quite as beat up as the manuals. 2. The automatic transmission is a notorious weak link. When driving the car, look for sloppy gear shifts, a sure sign that a rebuild is required soon. The rebuild on a Z31 transmission is a complete bitch. One of my good friends is a performance transmission guy and he wouldn't even look at it because he hates them so much. The rebuild on my transmission cost 50% more than your intended purchase price. 3. Another other weak link is the timing belt (not exactly a weak link, but if it goes, you're done...). Find out when the last time it was changed (very often noted under the hood). 4. A couple of other consistent weak links are the t-tops (take the car through a car wash, you'll find out in a hurry) and the vacuum system that runs the cruise and AC. 5. Assuming the car is rampant with rust, the price seems pretty good. Contrasting the Z31 to the S30, what you get is a cushy grand touring car vs. something that feels more like a performance go kart (you can really throw around a S30). Between the extra weight and the power steering, the Z31 just doesn't give the pure driving pleasure of the S30. On the upside, pulling out the t-tops on a great summer day sure is awesome. For $800, you could part out and be ahead... Cheers,

Buying my first z today!!
Welcome to the world of Z ownership! Judging by the photos, she looks reasonably solid (it must be said that your front bumper looks a tad too solid...just this side of a moose catcher...). Have fun and make sure she is safe (brakes, steering, suspension). Cheers,

Considering Parting with my Z .......
Very fair...I just hate to see the good ones go...

Considering Parting with my Z .......
Easy now... Meant to provide props to Stephen (his commitment has been a trifle longer than a mere 4 years...) for the continued contribution he has made to this board and by extension the Z community... As it turns out I know I'm not his boss..

Considering Parting with my Z .......

Washington/oregon z drive
Christ Arne, how did you guys get your Z's to the face of the moon, let alone pave a road up there...

Shut car off, feul pump off, car keep's going?
Either timing issue or low octane fuel or both (most likely the latter)... You have dieseling...the compression of the vehicle is sufficient to cause detonation of a low octane fuel...dump the gas and get some high test...mine did the same until I made the switch...

Not a Z
A well placed puncture in the exhaust and a good old fashioned awl to the floor..smelling like a Z in no time... Nice ride...a got an '07 baby Benz for a winter driver..

Seeking a Canadian Parts Suppier
The guy near Montreal is a tear-down operations for used parts. He lists on E-bay but you can deal directly with him (especially as I'm 3 miles down the road from him). Also you can work through Whitehead in Toronto. They usually have a good bead on where to find parts (and you never know what they have lying around in their shop racks). Check out the shop at the Swap meet this week. Cheers,

What to do with this 280Z im my garage?
1. Go out and drive a Z. Then judge the relative merit of the vehicle compared to the others. One of the neatest things about it is you don't need to go 150 mph to feel like you're driving... 2. Do some research on V8 swap vs. upgrades on stock. L28's are tough. You can generate plenty of power and it won't be as much hassle. 3. If not, sell it to a good home as a project. You might be able to part out and get slightly more money, but it's a pain and karma will not be impressed... Hope you keep the Z. They're great...(I kinda sound like an animated tiger...)

Guess I should introduce myself...
Sweet ride... The Ontario Z club does a great spring and fall ride that usually float up through cottage country and down through Lindsay. Another Z always makes the day better...

My wife has fun driving along and screaming DATSUN!!! indiscriminately (whether or not one is present) and then delighting in the near whiplash it invariably induces in me... Not many Datsuns roaming around up here... Kind of makes us special... Awww....
