I'm looking for a 'new' Z (year?)
My advice would be to avoid Ebay (just too many bad things with Z cars on ebay...search the site). With any prospective Z car purchase, ensure the car is inspected (ask on the board, it's likely there is a member nearby to check it out...expect a small fee or free). As for this site, it doesn't seem to attract as many classified listings for some reason. Possibly because the hard core users here love their Z's and relatively few would offer them up for sale. Craigslist or Kijiji (in Canada) are places you might be able to pick something off at a relatively cheap price for the quality. You can also check www.Zcar.com . It is another decent Z car website (the tech forums are extensive, but not as nicely organized or as extensive as this site). It seems to attract more classifieds for some reason. Good hunting.

South Florida Z
Yeah, some on that club should be able to point you in the right direction... It's interesting how different perspectives are...buy a car in Florida and making it right entails getting your bumpers re-chromed...buy a car up north and making it right entails new floors, frame rails, doglegs, battery tray, cowl, rocker panels, doors and, oh yeah...re-chrome the bumpers... Welcome to the club

Nice 280 fetching fair price on ebay
Or how about how mine purchase went down... I set my max bid at $X. Last day of bidding starts with reserve met at $1,000 under $X. A 2nd bidder comes in and starts entering bids...as soon as my reserve is crossed, bidder #2 cancels bid, which seller does not contest and I'm paying my max bid... Guess who bidder #2 might have been. Complained to Ebay and got the generic "we will investigate but due to privacy will not communicate findings"... Lesson, be wary of canceled bids...

Canadian Z's whats their history?
Always loved Z cars... #1. Bought my first one August 2 years ago on Ebay. The red 1971 240Z (wanted a 1971 as the was the year I was born). Needed more work than anticipated, but had it done (search for the evil Ebay thread...full story posted there). New brakes, new front end components, bit of a touch up to one of the frame rails and she's good to go. Scoots like hell (engine has always run perfectly, fires up every time, even in -15C weather in the garage). Now she's at the point mechanically tight and where she can be driven anywhere and a great 20' car but I need to attack the body / cosmetics (doors, hatch, then to the painters). She's an absolute blast to drive and has been on many a tour (see the galleries) this summer. #2. Left my corporate job (and company car) this January and as part of the exit package I was given a car allowance for 6 months. I did the math, and instead of leasing a car and having nothing to show for it at the end, why not buy another Z? The downside was that it was January and I would have to drive it through the winter...but whatever condition the vehicle was in at the end, it would be essentially a free car...so why not? I found an immaculately maintained 1987 300ZX in Niagara Falls. Mileage was on the high end (215,000 km's) but the vehicle had had all its work done at the dealership and, other than a little bit of a sloppy automatic transmission, was perfect. Got the car, had the tranny rebuilt and she was my daily driver from January until August. She's in good enough shape that I'm likely going to send her to the paint shop as well for a refresh (eliminate rock chips, one small rust spot on rear wheel well). #3. Not much to tell yet as I need to get it picked up in San Diego and brought home. A silver 1977 280Z that will need a little bit of work but seems solid and will make for a neat project (yet another...).
