  1. A broken valve on my race car led to the need for a new motor. Fortunately Z Register member Andy had an F54 L28 block spare. My head that had a fair bit of work was repairable. Hope the photos are of interest.
  2. Hi I have the Arizona Z Willwood kit with 6 pots and 13 inch rotors on the front and Silvermine rear disc kit on the rear with an under-hood adjustable bias valve. I have 15x7 Konig Rewinds and they just fit over the brakes. On the rear I had to use a spacer and longer studs to clear the calipers. I regularly use my Z on the track and can out brake many modern cars such as STI Suburus.

Phillip Island Classic 2015 Four members of the 240 and 260 Z Register of Western Australia took their Zds across the continent to Phillip Islland for the classic. 3 of us used a transporter and Phil drove his V8 powered Z. Here is a clip of Pete (white Z) and Chris (red Z) having some fun! https://youtu.be/MJs4u39nuo8

There is an active motor-sport community of Zeds in Western Australia. In this in car footage clip from the local club President's Zed some of the 10 Zeds in this one event are shown in close competition.
  7. A very successful day, around 25 S30s and numerous classic Dattos. Check the photos on our web site. WA Z Register - Datsun 240Z & 260Z Register of Western Australia Zed Day 2014 Was a great day and thanks to all that showed support and turned up on the day. Thanks to all the people that worked on the day and before to make it happen. It looked like the weather wasn’t going to play ball for a short while but it improved as the day progressed and to tell the truth we couldn’t have asked for better condition in the end. I’m not sure how many cars made it but I think it must have been north of 30. One pleasing stat was the number of Datsuns of the non-Zed variety that turned up. As promised the London to Sydney 240Z made an appearance and Navigator David gave a very interesting talk on both the car and their epic journey across the globe. The trophy winners this year were: Perpetual Trophy - Claude ...... Judging this year was on bumper rubbers, condition and originality, as well as quarter vent badges, condition and originality. Well done Claude. People’s Choice Trophy – Steve ......, driving a very tidy red 240Z. Well done Steve. Photos from the day on the web site so go and check them out. Wagging it on a Monday Definition wag Slang to play truant; play hooky Verb to move from side to side, forward and backward...especially rapidly and repeatedly El Presidento Hally, Mad Mike, Howie T aka Angus and Chris all agreed it was the Best Monday Ever when your Z Register representatives collectively wagged it, went to Barbagallo Racewayand wagged the tail of our Zeds. We had lots of fun and thank Triumph Sports Owners Association (TSOA) for letting us come along and play. 6 grids of 10 cars each were established to run 3 timed laps of the short circuit and then 3 timed laps of the long circuit. The TSOA very sensibly set up 4 grids of Triumphs of various denominations. They had fun collectively leaking oil, breaking down and proceeding with a sense of driving a car appropriately representative of an empire on which the sun has well and truly set. The 2 remaining groups consisted of Sensible Others and Crazy Bastard Others. El Presidento, Angus and Chris joined some minis, a BMW M3, Lotus, and PBR Clubman on the Sensible Others grid. I guess we all know where Mad Mike ended up. MM joined representatives from Dodgy Brothers Racing on a grid with a mentality that if you don’t have 400 horse power you may as well ride your bicycle to Mount Lawley, have a cup of decaf and discuss Lycra fashions. Mike and his cohorts went around the circuit mostly sideways, burning rubber and making a determined contribution to global warming. Fortunately Mad Mike was the fastest of the Crazy Bastard Others grid on the day and the FTD on the long circuit for the event. Well done Mike! On the Sensible Others grid the 3 remaining Zeds topped the field. Angus, forever the true gentleman that he is, thoughtfully let his high tension lead fall of mid lap so that our hosts would not go away with the belief that only Triumphs were capable of getting a DNF. Chris was well and truly whopped by El Presidento and is believed to have burst into tears when reading the results sheet. Us Zed boys all wagged the tails of our Zeds as vigorously as a pack of Jack Russells on speed and agreed it really was the Best Monday Ever. Thanks TSOA! What a drive! Amazing! Conditions like that would have seen a red flag in WA. How good was the Mazda(?) spinning off. That should have put a big smile on your face.

It doesn't rain very much in Western Australia, hence the need for the explanation at the start and demonstrated low wet weather skill level. It's also pretty flat, hence the poor excuse for a hill. But hey, we still have fun going up the hill in the wet!

Perth City Sprint 2014 Once again Riverside Drive was closed for the Perth City Sprint. The Vintage Sporting Car Club o WA run the event prior to the stage being used for the final of Targa West. There were 5 Zeds in the Sprint and 3 Zeds in Targa West. The in-car is from my GoPro.
  13. Let's face it - 'Beauty is in the eye of the Beer holder' For me I go with in period modifications rather than the V8 or turbo rice-power transplant.
