There were 4 Zds at this year's Bathurst Motor Festival. Bathurst is arguably Australia's most challenging motor racing circuit located on Mount Panorama a few hours west of Sydney. Peter H and I made the four day transcontinental trip trailering our Zds from Perth. All four Zds competed in the regularity events (essentially up against pre-nominated times but in reality attempting to post the best time possible). Attached is in car footage of my highlights from the 3 days on the track and some photos from the weekend.
  9. Yes it is. I always take spares. The 260 has the R200 diff so you need to take both (one is longer than the other). Changing is relatively straight forward but a real PITA at the track and can be done in about half an hour. This year I am going with the Wolf Creek set up to overcome the problem once and for all
  10. There will be at least 3 Zds at Bathurst this Easter.
  11. My Z and another will be joining 260DET at Bathurst next Easter. If you can endure the length of my video from this year's Easter Bathurst, or just fast forward towards the end, the final yellow flag was caused by the lead car hitting a Roo. You can see it off to the left just before Skyline. Bathurst in a Z is truly awesome - just look at how long it is on the redline in 5th coming down the mountain

Please add this one. There are some serious Z enthusiasts in this remote part of the world. WA Z Register - Datsun 240Z & 260Z Register of Western Australia
  13. A brilliant result by Bruce and Halley. The Zds did well in other categories as well!

Yes I have entered as has Peter (gold Z). The other Peter (white Z) will also be there but with his Winnebago.

Perth City Sprint Special Stage. Part of Riverside Drive in central Perth andthe Concert Hall car-park is closed each year for the final stage of the Targa-West Rally. The City Sprint is for classic cars as a warm up to the Rally Stage. It suits the Z just fine.

They can look pretty good without the caps. 15x8s

Sprint day at Barbagallo Raceway WA. The Z rounded up and passed the M3 but then went a bit flat.

Hope there wasn't too much damage.

I have only heard positive reports about the Datsun Nationals at Phillip Island Easter 2013. At Bathurst (also at Easter) there were a lot of incidents resulting in safety cars, yellow and red flags. We eventually had some clear runs. Certainly worth the 4 day each way transcontinental drive.

Have fun on the Island at the Datsun Nationals. Please post some footage. There will be 2 Zs from Western Australia attending. Regards Chris

Final hit out at Collie before starting the 4 day across continent drive to Bathurst on Sunday for the Easter Bathurst Motoring Festival.

To get the speed and track I used Qstarz laptimer with the DashWare program. The only problem is that it is difficult to accurately synchronise with the Gopro video.
  23. Great racing at a magnificent track. How modified are the Zs for this level of racing?
  24. Thanks for the nice comments. Bathurst is 3 and a half days drive from Perth towing the Z and doing about 600 miles a day. I enjoyed it so much that I will be going back again this Easter. This year I hope to have some better quality incar video from my new Go-Pro. The link below has some photos. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/thread45915.html
