there is a plug adapter available through romaine part # 50-04351 that can be used so you can use your original plug on your harness but you would need to see if z specialties can get you a non one wire alt for it to work .

just leave it unplugged . i used a wire tie to keep it looking good and out of the way .

    the plug is eliminated

no need to change wiring or any other modifications unless you have a big stereo system that draws alot . in that case all you need to do is add a single wire 6 guage from the battery post on the alt directly going to the positive battery post .

you can get a smaller pulley in most cases which would spin the rotor shaft faster at lower rpms

if it helps . i do know what i am talking about . i work for romaine electric and have been here for 13 years . we rebuild starters , alternators , generators etc . and sell all the internal components for them . you can check us out at www.romaineelectric.com or call me at 1-800-426-5005 ask for aaron .

oh i almost forgot , no need to worry about burning up wires with this alt . the stock wires will be fine . if you are overly concerned you can add 1 thicker wire going from the battery post of the alt direct to the positive post on the battery .

yes , it has an internal regulator that is why you need to disconect the stock external regulator . otherwise the alt wont work correctly because it would be double regulated which wont work .

I know of this alternator and it really works great . i have the 105 amp version and have had it on my car for 7 years and have had no problems . what you have to do is disconect your regulator because it is a 1 wire self excited alt . the alternaotor only puts out what your battery needs to maintain itself so if you are only drawing 35-40 amps , that is all it will put out . if you are drawing more than that the alternator automatically adjusts to the output it needs to , up to 105 amps . it is a direct bolt on and you dont even have to change belts or pulley . i highly recomend this if you are running a big stereo system or extra ralley lights . also this alternator does not need any extra mounting brackets . i hope this helps you out
  21. is this in washington state? and if so what city ?
  22. you are correct . that sensor is just for rpm . you can take it out or just snip the wires. i did the same on my 240z .

I had just finished my 72 240z . new stereo with six amps running 16 speakers , new duel webbers , engine had been bored 40 over with a wicked cam . 2.5 exhaust front to back , electronic ignition etc , etc . i was showing off my finished z with the stereo when one of our truck drivers pulled in front of where i was parked . we started chatting and he was complementing me on the car and the stereo . i left the stereo on so all could listen while i stepped inside the shop to use the bathroom . during this time one of my co -workers leaned against the car and the car started to roll forward . ( i allways leave the e-brake off) he quickly reached in and put the car in first gear . i came back out and decided i better start the car so i dont run the battery completely dead. since the car allways starts on the first try without pumping the gas , i opened the door and reached around the steering wheel to start the car . now... in my head , the car was in nuetral where i had left it . when i hit the key the car started up instantly and took off tword the semi truck parked sideways in front of me . i was also dragged with the car . as soon as the car hit the trailer i was pinned by the door . the car proceeded to rip the roof off (some how i managed to get my head down ) and start going out the otherside of the parked semi trailer . i finally reached the key and shut it down . everyone was afraid to look because they thought i was decapitated. needless to say i now had a convertable 240z and i was fine . the car was a total loss. two days later i found my new 240z that had been in a heated garage for 21 years . no rust perfect body and complete for a wopping $500.00 . i swapped everything over to the new body and the car is now in the shop waiting to get painted 95 dodge viper pearl blue . every nut , bolt , screw , fuel line , tank straps etc, etc has been chromed . as soon as it gets finished i will send pics.
  25. it wouldnt be the regulator . i work for a company that rebuilds alternators , starters, etc. i would defiantely check the modual . when moduals start to fail they do what you are explaining .
