Throttle Cable Upgrade - All The Way To The Pedal?
Lokar makes a full cable replacement kit. Not your way, but--MSA sells the same kit modified to attach directly to the accelerator pedal. They added a ball socket angled to attach there. I'm sure HybridZ has some threads on the subject. @Mike W has done the cable conversion but I am uncertain if it goes to the pedal,

Fiona (110 Red) is the last car in row 5 Jim! Row 4 gets a little ragged toward the end. FWIW, I'm with Zilver---3rd car, row 3---901 Silver. Thanks for the link to the Hemming's article----nice write up about the spirit of ZCON17!

Wax
Interesting that Philip uses the Ice-- Makes me feel somewhat better that someone who's opinion I trust and respect uses it also! I use it, but always felt like I was cheating and using an inferior product compared to Meguiar's, Mother's, etc. paste waxes. +1 to what Philip says---goes on very easily and beads the water nicely. Doesn't whiten rubber trim. IMHO, if you have a 2 stage base/ clear paint the Ice works very well. If I were one of the fortunates that still had original Amino Alkyd Enamel paint, like Jim2 or Cliff, I'd be using the paste waxes. Original paint done with it is like no other---I admire the paint on Jim's car (Fiona) each time I see it! Maybe when I retire I'll get into waxing with the real thing!

Gotsta gotsta have it.
@motorman7 Certainly gives new meaning to that phrase for sure! That might be what's left of it on the hatch floor! @grannyknot I'll donate a roof skin if you and Cliff can get this rolling! Shipping might be expensive though from ARKANSAS to TORONTO.

It's a 73 Z. Front bumper fillers and bumperette spacing give it away. Strange about the roof skin missing!??!

The GREAT 2017 ZCON picture thread
May I explain--- 75 to 80 mph heavy traffic in a 4 lane construction zone with no shoulders!! Dude in a SUV waving frantically at me from the right to get my attention--- Fought my way through the ignoramuses around me to escape at the last exit for the next 15 miles. Stopped the car and got out to inspect---flat tire passenger rear. WTF!!!! Disaster if it hadn't happened the way it did. Tire was running almost on the rim. Crippled up to a Wendy's with a convenience store next by. Asked if they had air--- although I wasn't sure that I could even move the car any further. Asked if they knew of a roadside service that I could call-- Sure--gave me the card--I called ---explained my predicament--He says "What size tires??" I say 14"?????!!!!! He says "Hell I don't know where to get them in Temple, TX.--- maybe a Walmart." Asks me where I am. "At the Wendy's/ convenience store in Temple." He says--"I'm around back working on a 18 wheeler!" Fantastic! He pulls around and breaks the tire down and removes the tip of a broken utility knife blade that has sliced my tire in the thickest part of the tread. Does the entire job "old school style" with a bead breaker spud bar, tire spoons, and an inner patch applied after flaming the inner tire area of the slice to insure a good bond. Great hard working guy that asked for $40--I gave him $50 and thanked my lucky stars the cut wasn't in the sidewall. The shot above was the next day when Scarab owner Mike Reynolds lent me his floor jack so that @Captain Obvious and his pal Gary could take me and the tire to a shop to re-balance the tire before the COTA Parade laps. Deepest appreciation and thanks to all you guys for the help!!! Zup p.s. @Mike W would not let me leave to go back home without a spare and gave me the original 14" steel rim with a brand new tire mounted on it from his 260Z before I left. Thanks again to you Mike! You all are the best there is!!

Deja Vu: 1971 Restoration
@motorman7 Smog pump looks great! I just did this on the 73. Weird to see a smog pump installed isn't it! Yours was a reman. unit which explains the blue paint. Per page EC-10 of the FSM your pump is installed upside down. You'd discover that when you install the hoses---just sayin'

New wiper blades?
@grannyknot May not need to be said, but---- that is for 1 blade not a pair. The part number is good---I've bought several from Courtesy in the last 6 months. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Datsun-Wiper-Blade-Set-240Z-260Z-280Z-1970-1976-NEW-/232342420358?hash=item3618affb86:m:m5yZRsTfaOA4JHMI4hLNfbQ&vxp=mtr The-z-connexion on E-bay is a solid source if you chose that route.

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
That has been my experience. I've read about all sorts of solutions from cutting and repositioning the arm on the throttle lever at the firewall, to bending the linkage rods, to giving up and installing cable linkage. The engineers knew what they were doing---it is not a flawed design. I fought with the sticky throttle, but when ALL of the linkage was cleaned thoroughly and adjusted to the Factory Manual specifications it works smoothly without sticking or binding and is very responsive with a light feel at all speeds.

That (above) and the cost was what I remembered most---it gave me pause that they didn't inspect your originals and realize that their solution was not! Glad they made it right for you. (redemption as it were---)
