Early vinyl "pig tail cover"
Bryan, I received the leather version of the shift boot today-----very nice indeed! And extremely well packaged I might add!! I'm interested in the e-brake cover and pig tail cover---especially since I'm already 1/3 of the way there! :classic: Just let me know how it goes. Jim D. "Zup"

Changing out Heater Core in 1971 240Z
One Question - Anybody found a good replacement for the foam pad used in the heater box to seal the door that flips up and down for heat or defrost??? I used a cheap mousepad (a throw-away from work-plastic on one side-closed cell neoprene on the other) and spray can of contact cement. It was the right thickness----just trim to shape, clean the metal flapper before glueing, spray both surfaces, let sit a few minutes and carefully apply. No more loud "kaathunk" when it closes! 240Z Combo and T/S switch repair Service
P.M. sent Dave. :classic: I have all of the harnesses out right now, so if you want more than just the engine bay let me know. It's just a thought, but you could do an entire inventory of the wiring of the car while you are at it and see if you wanted to offer reproductions of the dash, and chassis/rear harness as well. New Club DVD!
I have been following this from the start Will, but haven't sent anything as I don't know for sure what has been submitted/received. Any and all of this is available for your use, but I don't want to send duplicated items. The difficulties of scaning bound copies I can readily see, but if they need to be unbound to get the job done for this I don't mind. I suppose that they can be re-bound after the fact and I am willing to do that. I have a new original Nissan 1970 FSM, a used 1971 FSM, a used 1972 Chassis and Body Manual, a nearly new 1973 FSM, and a new 1973 Owners Manual, as well as a plastic page sleeved 3 ring binder with loose pages of the Chassis and Body Manual. Please let me know if any or all of this is of any use to you and I will send it along. No matter what, you should know that yours is absolutely one of the best projects that I know of-----a compendium of information all in one package that will be very valuable well into the future for anyone with an interest and love of the Z's. One more thing. If a cash contribution to help defray the costs of reproduction would be welcome just let me know where to send it. I am sure there are others here that would really like to help with the project but don't know how best to contribute. Thanks for doing what you are doing! Jim D. "Zup"

NOS Door Panels Listed on Ebay
Are those of you using the chrome tape from R/C stores using FliteMetal? I don't know if this is the same stuff or not, but have been wondering if it would work (or work better than other adhesived tape) There may be some differences in the quality of these tapes and the adhesives that are on them. www.flitemetal.com Jim D. Fix for Clutch throwout bearing howel?
Thanks for the replys--- I knew the answer-----wishful thinking?? I will reinspect the fork and pivot on disassembly. They looked fine. I will also be looking for rough spots on the input shaft. I suspect that I have been victimized by a "bad in the box" bearing as a7dz stated. It does happen---but :hurt: WHY ME? Jim D. "Zup"

Fix for Clutch throwout bearing howel?
Just finished with install of all new parts from MSA--- For a early 73 240Z: Stock clutch Pressure plate Clutch collar THROWOUT BEARING---- Dust boot Clutch master, hose, and slave were replaced a few months previously with new parts. Worked fine until the clutch disk lining finally wore out and it would slip under acceleration. A clutch disk alignment tool was used for the install. Bearing howels when clutch pedal is pushed in----sometimes quite loud and annoying, sometimes not so loud. Any fix short of taking it all down and redoing with a new bearing? Dissappointedly! :disappoin :disappoin :disappoin Jim D. "Zup"

Early Shift Boots
To those involved: Please add me in as well! It'd be a nice item to have available once again. Has anyone talked with Les about the material for the boot itself? Jim D. "Zup"

What did your holidays bring your Z?
From my "significant other" I received a well preserved original hardback edition of: NISSAN/DATSUN A History of Nissan Motor Corporation in U.S.A., 1960-1980 by John B. Rae complete with a handwritten signature on a presentation letter signed by Tetsuo Arakawa President of Nissan Motor Corporation, USA dated November 1981 A very good read--indeed! :classic: Jim D. Mystery '73 parts
Hey Will-- I've got pix of the completely assembled lighted HCP, as well as individual shots of the boots but the site won't let me upload them currently!? The boots have #'s inside them. The drivers side has the number"18" inside it. The passenger side has the number "4" inside it. There are no other numbers or text. I'm attempting a thread about reconditioned rubber parts. If I can get pics uploaded there please review it for further info. Jim D. "Zup"

what is the TRUE definition of "Series 1"
I happened to notice that there is a definite difference between the front valences on my 10/70 240Z (Jordan's Z Beandip) and my 2/73 240Z. I apologize for the not so good pix, but I hurriedly shot them today during my lunch break from work. (It's dark out when I get off! :disappoin ) There is a concave flare on the 70 that is not there on the 73. Does anyone know around what timeframe this small body shape change took place? I am fascinated by these differences we have observed, and wonder what additional ones might come to light as this discussion proceeds. Jim D. "Zup"

washer motor leak
You don't need to cut the rubber isolator----just push, wiggle, and pry and it will slip out. :surprised I just purchased a new pump from amazon.com this morning for $33 shipped. It was the Trico 11-601 mentioned in this thread. :classic: I've got lots of washer bottles that are in good shape but only 1 good pump. Now I'm set! Thanks again for you'se guys help!! Jim D. "Zup"

VIN # 00001 Huh?
I think what he is tryig to convey is that the car's condition is such that it would classify as a #1. Not sure why he added so many 0000's though! Jim D. "Zup"
