Real Quick Interior Question
cremmenga--- 260 panels will work in 240's IF it is an early 260. They are actually considerably stronger than the 240 panels due to a heavier gauge material that was used. The only interior panel that fits properly from a 280 that I know of is the overhead dome light trim panel. The doglegs may work, but they have half moon drilled areas that don't match up well in appearance with the 240 or 260 quarter window trims.

Breaker plate/vacuum advance cam
I am trying to find a breaker plate assembly for a ZX dizzy with the E12-80 module. It is a Model D6K82-01 distributor. I am reconditioning a unit that I purchased in classifieds but, :nervous: , the breaker assembly plastic plate and ball bearings are shot on one side of the breaker plate, so the vacuum advance doesn't work. The diaphram is good, as are all the other parts. No shaft play. I sure would like to get the advance working. If anyone has a plastic plate and a few ball bearings from a unit that has a bad shaft, or whatever, please let me know. I apologize for posting here instead of the classified "WANTED" section, but I don't think many people visit that section. Any help, or leads, are greatly appreciated! Jim D. Variation in Series 1 ashtray covers
I too am looking for a "better than the one that I have" Series 1 ashtray/fusecover. I recently got notched on the one that "onuthin" had for sale on e-bay. It was perfect! Mine is complete, but was cracked earlier and a poor repair done by the PO. On a related note----the console has an opening for the parking lamp switch/s. My 7/70 build date doesn't have the parking switch. Is there a blanking plate available that could /would go there? Or do I need to try and find the switch or switches? Fortunately the rear window defrost switch is still there and in good condition. Pictures of this console area would help me out---as well as any leads on parts of course! Thanks! Jim D. "Zup"

Gas Mileage for '73 240Z
You may remember a member, named JPD here on the forums, that had a dark green and tan # matching 2/72 240Z (all stock) and a 7/70 # matching yellow and black 240Z. He put them up for sale in the classifieds and I drove up from Arkansas to Chicago 2 weeks ago and bought them both.:classic: The 7/70 is all in parts and was trailered. The 72 I drove back about 675 miles and got 22.4 mpg with a heavy foot on I-44. (80+ mph often):surprised Mixed it up with a BMW 3 on a divided section near Pacifica, Mo. for about 8 miles. :rambo: He gave up. No tuneup or anything---I expect it will get better with a little massaging. ZZZZZ's = great fun !!!! "Zup"

Straw poll: 240Z to ZX alternator adapter
Hey Arnie-- On a related note---did you ever get with Zsondabrain about the relay deal? Have you firmed up plans to start making them? LMK if ya could or would, as I would definitely like to do this upgrade and don't want to use the VB unit. Thanks! :classic: Zup

I NO LONGER MAKE THE "HEADLIGHT RELAY UPGRADE HARNESS"
:hurt: Damn---and I was just about to order. Escanlon's posts about it being the single best upgrade have me convinced. It's all good though Dave, you've given a lot of yourself to the Z community. I'm sure the sentiment here is for your life to become a little less stressful---- :classic: 7 and 50 hr. weeks----I don't know how you ever did it. A tech article would be great-----but so would someone taking up the task for others. Anyone up for it!

She's DONE!!!
Hi Ed--- The best RESTORATION I have seen on this or any other site. Right down to the wire clamps for all the hoses.( I see you found them!) :classic: You have definitely set the bar for all to follow. I too can't wait to see all the pics. They are an education on how it should look and be done. You ought to write the sequel to Web Hubble's classic. Your knowledge is something the rest of us will need. Thank you for selling me the parts that I needed and also for the candid truth about my cam. Somehow I knew that was the answer. I'll give Delta Cams a call on Monday and find out how bitter the pill will be. GREAT WORK ED!!!

Galled Lobe! Too far Gone?
I recently purchased this E88 complete head and noticed on arrival that the exhaust valve cam lobe to cylinder #4 is scratched (galled?) :disappoin All the other lobes appear very good. The block side of the head looks very good. The chambers are free of any carbon or deposits This head was rebuilt 2,000 mi. ago according to the seller. My question is: Is the cam trash or is it usable? :nervous:

Z center cap
Victor--- They aren't authentic Libre rims---there were lots of copies made by companies---and there is very little to go on in the way of ID #s. They look O.K. but I like the caps more.

Suspension noise
Carl-- Page 14 of Wick Humble's "How to Restore Your Datsun Z-Car" states "I can't disagree that hand-rubbed lacquer gives a deeper luster than the original synthetic-enamel finish, for instance." Page 54 states "The alkyd enamel Datsun put on my 240Z is a synthetic enamel." Page 60 under "Z-Car Exterior Colors" reads----"Original alkyd enamels may not be available in these colors and may be matched by color chip." Not disputing your color code label, but that is where I read it.

Suspension noise
I have read that the original paint used on 240's was ALKYD ENAMEL-not Acrylic Enamel. Just pointing it out in case you are going 100% original, which I hope you do for this gem! :classic:

Cleaning tail light lens

Getting rid of my 72 parts car
I'm interested in the radiator Ed. Also the fuel filter bracket. Are the clips for the rear taillight finisher panels still intact? They would have to be cut off as they are welded on to the body panel. I am missing a couple of these on my 73 240Z. LMK! Thanks! Zup

Seat mechanism covers
Count me in---I'm a noob here but I need em for my '73. I agree with the sentiment expressed already. These things are expensive for what they are if and when you find them and are doomed to break even when new. My hat is off to the idea!
