    Too expensive for the size and state they are in. I just spent 10,000 pesos (roughly $200) just restoring my Rs-8's but now they look brand new! If you do get them, you'll probably be spending double the costs just restoring them. Not a really good buy if you asked me. I'm pretty sure you can find other Watanabes for the same price or a bit higher but with a larger rim size and far better conditions than the ebay item. You got that part right v12 horse. Victor Laury said "They were mainly developed and marketed for the Silvia/180SX/240sx line." but they do look good on a Z...trust me just think of these rims as banana type rims with a little more...oomph! hey sakijo! don't they look familiar? hehehe!

  5. I think Mike's doing a great job with the language restrictions but I noticed sometimes that even the word "classic" would be ***! Also, there where a few links I had trouble opening cause they too had the ***. For some reason the car actually looks like it has a really thick beard?! With a hood like that? Hmm...I say ricey.

    I don't think he was really familiar with the track. I noticed the corvette's approach to the turn was something like this... brake,turn in,release,accelerate and just as he hit the apex he would tap on the brake again then accelerate. Scary approach if you ask me. If he was pushing it a little more and used the same approach, he would have spun out. Dave's hand movements were very relaxed. Seemed like he knew what he was doing. Good driving. Dave which do you prefer? understeer or oversteer? Btw, who was the guy next to you? Was he an instructor? I couldn't make out why he was moving his hands. Either he was showing you the lines or he was just hanging on to the dashboard! Hehe. Ez

    Damn! $200?! I'd rather buy the weatherstrip I'll be needing soon.Would you know how the center caps for the SSR RS-8's look like? If I can't find a set for the rims I'll just probably go to MSA and get those center caps with the Z logo which will probably be my last resort... Did you see the rims that Victor Laury found? Was I right in saying that they look like yours? Ezra

    Looks good Victor Laury. Its exactly like sakijo's but 16"s. The rear lip does look a bit deeper plus with his specs front 16x7+12 195/50/16 dunlop tires (good tread) rear 16x8+0 205/55/16 yoko es100s (needs new tires) as compared to mine Model: RS-8 Size: 16x 7.0 Offset: +38 Type D Inspector: H.Ueno Speed Star Co,LTD. TIRE PACKAGE: BF GOODRICH 205x55x16 REAR SETS: Model: RS-8 Size: 16x 8.0 Offset: +38 Type E Inspector: H.Ueno Speed Star Co,LTD. 225x50x16 This is coming out of my arse so don't quote me on this.The offset in his rear is +0? So I'm guessing that would make the face directly centered from the width of the rim, which I'm guessing would make the rim stick out of the wheel well? You'll probably need those black fenders too. If you had the ZG conversion that would look awesome with the RS-8's! Mine is +38 which makes the rim/tire go deeper into the wheel well. Oh by the way, I'd like to apologize to murph and to you victor laury. I just came from the shop were the car was being restored and guess what I found? spacers! Woops. The black face is really nice but it kinda hides the design of the wheel (Again, Still coming out of my arse) If I were you, I'd get them before some ricer does and paints them pink!   18. Then I guess you've just solved your problem. Haha! Don't know why the previous owner did that kind of setup.Different strokes for...you know the rest. If you have the time try removing both the front and rear springs and compare them. Not sure if the "R" stand for rear or right side? Maybe the other members who know better about the suspension setup for the Z can help you out but yes, the rims do make the car! I love it. Are they the Panasports? The rear rim looks more incised than the front? I have something similar to those but still having them reconditioned. Ezra
  19. Try pushing you the rear part of your car down twice and let go. If the car gives an extra bounce or two, your shocks are dead. Or you can change your tire size. If those are 16"s, you can try this setup. (not sure of the width of your rim x 55 x 16 for the front and X x 50 x 16 for the rear. You can check this website out if you need some help with tire choice. http://www.rims-n-tires.com/info_specs.jsp Chances are your shocks are dead cause I highly doubt the owner switched them intentionally and I'm not sure you can actually do that to the suspension.     Now this is what I was sort of looking for! Thanks Enigma! But I have a few questions..With "(1) design changes were made to the combustion chambers to lower compression ratios and help meet increasingly strict emission requirements" Did this layout make the engine slower or faster regardless of power to weight ratio? and for "(2) to compensate for the increasing weight of the cars." could this be why the 260 and 280 were slower than the 240?     Stephen was right in saying this. This wasn't my intention at all. I think xray probably was the closest to the apex on this one but it didn't really answer my question. Do people actually read the starter thread? Or do they just ride on the latest posted conversion?:mad:

    As xray said..."It's very easy to put carbs and NA intake on an L28 block and head, and you've got near-instantaneous 30% increase in power (150-ish to 180-ish)" But I'm not sure if you can do the turbo setup with carbs. I'm guessing you'll have to revamp your fuel management system( SH*T I sound like ricer...dammit) I honestly wouldn't know if you could do such a setup. Ez

    xray could also be right. Maybe this was one of the reasons why the 260 and 280z's were slower than the 240z.

    gogriz91 is right. I wasn't implying that the L28 is a slower block than the L24. But I got this from every single book I have about the Datsun Z cars. Let me quote something from Car Collector "In an effort to cheat ever tightening emission restrictions, Nissan bumped displacement to 2.6 L in '74 and 2.8 L in '75" (DUH) If I'm not mistaken, this is what killed the muscle car and this is one of the many factors why the Z became such a phenomenon aside from being such a brilliant car ( again DUH) Another example was from Classic Cars which talked about "the bullet proof straight six that gave all the right sounds but later models were hit by restricted emissions in the late 70's. I'm not trying to start an argument with which block was the better of the three but I was just wondering why people swapped their L24's with the later when most of the writer's and critics are more or less saying the same thing.
