Purchasing 3.54 R200?
I think that the general road driving set up will be to stick with the factory set up. Not that you need the original running gear, but that the rear end should be matched to the tranny you are using. Nissan spent plenty of money putting together the possible combos. Good enough for me for all around use. Racing is a different story. A couple of good sites to help. http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/GearRatios.html http://www.geocities.com/z_design_studio/transmission.html Good luck.

Hi
So you don't consider yourself an owner? Must be Deanna's then. I think you'd better keep the yellow! Ha Ha Ha.

sandblaster help
I have a blasting cabinet, so this advice may not apply. In my cabinet, I have a filter to remove the water, but I have too much line between the compressor and the cabinet. It plugs because the moisture makes the media clump. In mine, I can remove the hose that feeds the media and blow back through it. Then the media will flow again for awhile. Be sure to drain the water from your compressor tank as compressed air creates quite a bit of condensation. It will also ensure your compressor tank will last for years. Good luck.

240Z Paint Feedback
Since mine has undercoating in the wheel wells, I sprayed them black. My personal taste, but I like it black.

seat belts
The retractable shoulder belt can be removed from a wrecking yard '75 (maybe other years also) and it will bolt right into your '72. The coupe version only. The 2+2 had the retractor behind the plastic trim. The belt will need to be sewn onto your stock metal clip that snaps into the receiver. Beandip has it completed. I have the parts, but haven't installed it yet.

Pertronix install
I am on the road right now, for most of the week, but Carl had sent me his instructions after his post was deleted. It would be on my home computer. If you need it PM me before Friday. I will not have time on the weekend, this coming weekend. Carl wouldn't mind you getting this personally as he was very helpful. He had other issues.

Hello from Oregon!
Hi Rainman, As it turns out I am sitting in a Grants Pass hotel reading your thread for the first time. I will be in your area the next couple of days. Would love to meet you and talk Z cars. I'll send you a PM.

Speedo cable is leaking????
Loren, I had the same issue and the culprit was that I put the seal in without removing the pinion gear. It just didn't seat deeply enough to do the job. Second time around, it went fine. Good luck!

Any interest? Matched set steel wheels, 4/71 date?
Arne, I have a spare wheel that you can have. I'll trade you for the gauge bracket. Date code is 5/72. Not perfect but a light scotchbrite is all it needs. Will even loan you a wheel.

How about letting us know where you and the car are located. Pretty slim info in your profile. Whats the big secret?

Looks Like an Early Z to me - on eBay - your Opinion?
Escanlon also has a late '71 or very early '72 that has a series one dash and console, but has series 2 vents on the pillar. This is fairly common, as Nissan used parts that were left over as they were changing designs. That is why we all go to the dealer parts counter armed with the build date. Good observation!

Greetings from Grenada
Welcome to the forum. There is lots of info here. Practice with the search function, or you may get reminded to start there a few times. Nothing personal though. I was talkingto someone today, that may be headed your way on business. With the costs to ship, and what I would imagine are limited access to parts in Grenada, did your last project come in on/under budget?

Front control arm slightly gouged by shop that pressed the bushings
It should be fine, but don't you just hate the care that people take when it isn't their own car? Just be sure the sharp edges are removed. Don't want to slice yourself down the road. You using poly bushings?

L4 carbs, such a bad thing?
My guess is that you will run fine until you decide to put your foot into it and run the revs up. After 5500 or so, you'll start to starve for fuel and you'll stumble, have trouble continuing up the powerband. You'll need to shift. Should be okay for most driving conditions, IMO. Its when you are feeling spirited that you'll wish you had Z carbs. Good luck!

new wheels
Try backing down a hill with a hard turn, like out of a driveway. Or backing and turning hard on to a side hill. Usuall the right front has additional caster, so back to the right as if turning to the left. If I am going to rub, those are the conditions where I will rub. Those wheels are tempting!

Received the car I purchased off Ebay today.
I am not saying this as first hand experience, but just as something to consider. I have personally seen cars modified this way, very poorly, that looked terrible and was visible above the console. I had always understood that Arne is right on, with his comment. But, I have heard from someone recently, that you can create a shifter that has a serious bend in it that will allow the tunnel to remain uncut. Steve Epperly, of Z Therapy, 's dad was involved in making the shift lever. Take this with a grain of salt. I can double check, or you can research.

Intakes, Heads , motors
Check the exhaust ports on your N47 head. If they are round ports, your existing exhaust system won't fit from the E88, L24 head. The E88 has rectangular exhaust ports. If you have the exhaust manifold to go with the L28, it isn't much of an issue.

G'Day from down under.
