Car Hauling
Hehe, I just got back from a 950 mile round trip to the show in Syracuse...so I'm not up for a road trip right now... 800 is about right Chris, I checked on the shipping for a non-op car from Penasacola to me and it was right in that neighborhood. But, you're right, they shy away from non-op cars. If you've got a pickup, you could always rent a U-Haul trailer one way, but, I'd almost bet the price of that is gonna be darn near the same as having it shipped. I checked into one from Atlanta to here when I went to get 809 last spring, and the one way rental price for a trailer shocked me to say the least. So, I traded a buddy of mine and old set of aluminum slots for a Z for the use of his open trailer and went myself. Cost me about $125 altogether (fuel and food) and did an 1100 mile round trip in 24 hours. :cross-eye

Who is going to the ZANY show in Syracuse?
Sorry Ed, you must have been one of the ones I missed... :stupid: I didn't get hardly any pics, since John Jeffries "volunteered" me to be a judge in the car show, so I kinda had my hands full for a while Saturday, plus my brother was there to pick up my Mom and take her to his place for a week. Only pics I got were of the BSR race car that was there for everyone to drool over. Sorry if I missed anyone, but there's always next year at the Convention

wierd tire wear
Yes, I was talking about the control arm and probably the spindle pin bushings as well. But, before you do anything, have the rear camber checked. If there isn't a big difference from one side to another, it's remotely possible it was a defective tire, or something other than the bushings. Knowing what the camber is on each side in the rear will tell you more about where to start looking. No sense buying parts that aren't needed unless you just want to refresh everything at once.

MidwestZ??
Whatever has happened, it's not like Chloe to not let at least one of her good customers know what is going on, whether it be temporary or what not. I think that's why we are all a little nervous that something more serious has happened to her. Hopefully she's OK and is perhaps moving the business to a larger space?

MidwestZ??
Her business address is: 11700 E. Waterman #223 Hopefully she's not out of business for good, just temporarily. We've gotten quite spoiled by her service and ability to find some very hard to find items. It would be tough to go back to some of the other suppliers after Chloe.

Calling all Z cars! Need your vote!
Well Craig, you got my vote. But I think with Kaelin asking for the keys you may need more than that....Valium maybe?

MidwestZ??
Put A/C in the garage so I can work on my car more often.... :lick: And that's what I've been doing. :bandit: I sent one of my cousins an e-mail and asked her to go by Chloe's shop next time she's in Wichita and see if she can find out something..... she only lives about 40 minutes or so away from Wichita.

MidwestZ??
I've got some relatives that live close by.... maybe I can get them to do some checking....stopping by her shop would tell us a lot.

wierd tire wear
Without seeing them, I'd say it's possibly too much negative camber caused by worn out bushings or it could be damage done from a previous owners careless driving... Have the camber checked on both sides in the rear, and then you should have an idea where to start looking, whether or not it's on both sides or just one.

MidwestZ??
I've been trying to call her as well, no luck so far. :disappoin She left Feedback on 9 old auctions on 6/28, but oddly they all say they were posted at the same time?

Spacer for Front Vented rotors??
I think you might be able to buy just the spacer from Modern Motorsports or JSK Innovations. MSA's price isn't too far off the market price when you figure it includes everything you need to do the swap including calipers. It's maybe 75-100 more than buying things seperately, but then, if you buy them seperately you run into a possibility they won't be compatible. Modern Motorsports offers a complete kit, and I think buy the time you include the calipers, it comes out pretty close.

"Freshening up a differential"
I guess they could check for lateral run out on the output shafts to check the bearings. The R-200's are a PITA to set up because they use shims to adjust the preload on the pinion. I had an ex-Nissan tech do mine, and he said he'd rather work on an R-180 anyday. I'd just clean it out good, and take it to a shop with a dial indicator and ask if they can check for any lateral play in the pinion shaft or output shafts that could indicate worn bearings. Since you say the ring gear isn't worn or have any grooves from the pinion gear, I'd say it possible that everything is OK. Any wear in the bearings would show up as uneven wear or galling in the ring gear face.

Where to find this fitting?
Whoever made up that story doesn't know much about how the coolant flows through the intake/carb lines. The water control valve stops the flow of coolant at around 80 degrees or so, so once the engine warms up, there is no coolant flowing through the intake lines anyways. If the water control valve malfunctions, the hot coolant causes vapor lock. The coolant only flows through the intake/carbs long enough to promote quicker warm up after a cold start.

Is this eBay item Bogus?
From what I've read about the Phantom Grip LSD's, they do work, not as good as a factory LSD, but not completely useless. They don't seem to last as well as they claim though. For 300 bucks, it might be OK for a street car, but if you were to autoX the car much, you'd probably end up replacing it sooner than you'd like. For some people, they'd rather spend half as much for one of these than to buy a good LSD in the first place. I was just reading a thread on one of the racing forums about them, and one guy who used it in his FWD race car said it worked fairly well for a while, but without warning it just quit. I guess if you wanted a "disposable" LSD, this is it.....

differential front oil seal leak
It's a common leaking point in the diff. As the diff wears(bearings, pinion and ring gear), the preload on the pinion bearing will change and allow movement in the pinion that will wear out the seal. Just pull the fill plug on the rear cover to check the level, and if the leak is that bad, I'd leave it slightly lower than the fill plug, perhaps just enough that you have to insert your finger in and bend the first joint of your finger to get to the fluid. If you fill it completely, it may leak even worse.

Wheel Decision
Sorry Victor, but IMO they aren't that nice compared to Panasports, especially considering the price of the SSR's......:cross-eye We all know how Pana's look on a Z, and they are a bit cheaper to boot. FWIW, with your car's color, I think a neutral color like silver, gunmetal, or somewhere in between is gonna look the best. Of course, if you don't spend a pile of money on wheels, you could always try powder coating the centers until you find the right shade or color to suit the car.

How does upgrading to a 3.9 feel
It all depends on what aspect ratio you are using when comparing overall diameters of 14 inch and 15 inch. I was speaking in general terms relating to stock 14 inch tires and wheels, but the same principle applies to all the wheel diameters as well. It would be pretty easy to go to a 15 inch wheel and end up with a shorter overall tire, depending on the aspect ratio of the tire and tire size availability.
