TOG, I have one and it looks pretty good. Not sure that it's worth the money though... but I'm one of those people that can't make a straight cut in a board with a table saw... so I took the easy way out..... Only problem I had fitting mine in, was the holes were just off enough that I had to do a little filing to slot them as I couldn't get one screw to start. After I got that done, it goes in and out easily...

If you can't find one, e-mail Andy Russell, he has brand new manuals for most all the years for $72. E-mail him at z@datsundude.com
  4. You don't really have to, but I would just to make it a bit easier... Hard to get them out from the front without damaging them, so if you have the heater out, you might try it from the back.... IIRC there are a couple mounting bolts up under the dash board on the kick panels that are kinda hard to see without having the box out... Been a long time since I took a dash out, so I could be wrong on that one...

I think Mike needs to spend less time watching HBO late at night and spend more time on his web-site....

This e-mail was sent out to all the Z Car Clubs, so I thought I should post it here for all the members who don't belong to other organized Z Clubs: To All, The convention gets closer and closer every day. We are actually only 6 months away. Spring has arrived (even in New England) and Z's are everywhere. Our club is getting a steady stream of new 350Z owners. Registrations are steady and the hotel is filling up. Mr. K and others have already signed up to attend. Steve Millen will be one of the guest speakers and will be driving on track day in the Avalon Racing GT-2 Race car. We have a ton of other surprises to make this a very memorable convention. A lot of Mr. K's friends are also coming. We also anticipate a lot more sponsors as we get closer to the event. Some other key notes: New Hampshire International Motor Speedway is booked and paid for. The autocross is ready to roll. The SCCA and NASCAR Safety crews are ready to roll. The Poker run is t4ested on a regular basis. The Car show is under contract and ready to go Final plot plans are in the works for the car show. I can not stress how important it is to register early to insure you get into the host hotel as the much reduced rate of $119.00 per night. Also some events are limited so we encourage all those traveling from out of state to register early to insure your members can participate in the events. PLEASE INSURE THIS INFORMATION IS ADDED TO YOUR NEWS LETTERS. Convention information can be found at the official convention web site @ www.zccne.addr.com We budgeted very low to insure we had a financially sound convention. Based on this I have attached the major events and the percentage full at this time. Clearly the number of registrants can be increased and actually expect them to. The track, autocross, and car show are limited in number to provide a safe environment and for the show proper time to insure quality judging and time for Gold Medallion/Gold Cup reviews. Now is the time for the big push, to get everyone signed up and ready to go. We are excited about bring you this convention and are doing everything humanly possible to insure a safe and wonderful experience. 7. Hmm, so many questions... The floor pans you are looking at are nearly identical to the ones that MSA sells as their Premium Floor Pan kit. Either supplier is good. I'd leave the bushings alone until all the other problems are solved, you might as well do the bushings when you get around to doing other suspension repairs, such as strut cartridges springs, etc... Carpet, well, Too Intense has a decent set from what I've heard from members who have purchased them. Rember to give him your IZCC number so he knows that his ad on the site is drawing in business so he will continue to advertise..:classic: He also has re-upholstery kits for the seats as well. If you replace the floors, you could coat them with POR-15, which should offer at least a little sound deadening, which along with new carpet and backer ought to help. Antenna might be a high dollar item, as the ones I've seen on Ebay are going for 100+...Suppliers aren't going to be any cheaper either as MSA's price is 144+
  8. Yah, there are two filaments, but only one is for the turn signals and/or hazard lights.. the other is for the taillight.
  9. Have you tried replacing the flasher? If the indicator for the turn signal does come on in, but it doesn't blink it could be the flasher....
  10. Marty, as Carl said they won't interchange... but before you get one from Courtesy, try Andy Russell. His price list has them down as $69 for the 70-71 turn signal switches and the headlight switch for the 70-71 is $80... hard to beat those prices anywhere...:classic: z@datsundude.com

As far as I can recall they had them, and yes, they are hard to find. I'm not sure if they actually have them or not, but seems like I saw them listed on Courtesy Nissan's site...

Wonder if it has the "low-rider" electric/hydraulic suspension too....:stupid: :cross-eye
  13. You could use the 280 strut housings, but to get the car level you'd have to either go to coil-overs or remove and lower the stock perch. The front end would end up over an inch higher than the stock height, and that would really make it look odd to say the least.... Still have to go to the microfiche to verify, but the 70-73 strut housings are the same, but yet early 74's and the 74.5-78 were all different. So, not knowing what the difference are, seems there may have been 3 different strut housings, but for sure the 74.5-78 are not the same as the earlier one.

The more pics you post, the worse it gets... at least from a labor point of view. Looks like you'll be needing floor pans, along with rails under the floors. The biggest concern I see right now is the condition under the battery tray. If it's bad, then you really will have your hands full. It's gotten into the firewall to some extent, along with the floors, and the frame rail. What part of VA are you in? We might be able to find you someplace to have it looked at and get an estimate on repairs. The good floor pans are approx. 350 bucks, and if the rust is in the front half of rails in the engine compartment you're looking at another 250 or so.. plus the labor for installation and metal for making patch panels.... :disappoin

Instead of a brass drift, you could always buy a set that does it all. Installs seals and races.... Can't forget the obvious Z related tools such as a clutch alignment tool, head bolt tool, cam chain tool, and at least a Uni-Syn... After you get the obvious hand tools, the air tools are next on the list along with a good compressor as previously stated. Next on the list would be a Mig welder, and perhaps a sandblaster of one type or another. Engine hoist, engine stand, large bench vise, bench grinder, small drill press.... the list can go on and on....:cross-eye

Actually I believe it is called gold cadmium plating... Zinc chromate is a light green color.. usually the insides of airplane panels are painted with zinc chromate primer.. Eastwoods has a kit that will supposedly will duplicate the gold cad look on parts, it's a 3 part aerosol kit, with gold base coat, red zinc and green zinc, never tried it but it's only 35 bucks if you want to try it. The also have Tin Zinc plating, which is a shiny silver. Zinc phosphate which is a blue/grey, and a charcoal grey zinc phosphate coating as well as silver cadmium which is a bluish-silver...oh and a black oxide coating... www.eastwoodcompany.com
  17. Nope, sorry. The 280 strut housing is longer and also larger in diameter..... Not sure about the 260's though... don't know if they changed prior to 75 or not....

Like Mr. C said, there is no adjustment in the rear unless the lower control arm bushings have been replaced with adjustable ones. So it is either a bent suspension piece, worn out bushings, bent stub axle or flange, bent wheel, or something that is not so good ......

Well, we had 78 Friday, then woke up to snow on Saturday with about 4 inches total and more flurries Sunday. Yesterday it was 81 and today is supposed to be even warmer.... This weekend is supposed to be back in the 50's for a high... Wish someone would quit playing with that thermostat....

  23. Guess we now know where GM got the front end for the C-4 and C-5 Corvettes don't we? :cross-eye :disappoin
  24. Sorry Victor, but if the urethane was prepped right, it shouldn't be flaking off paint like that... I'll stick with urethane airdams.... think of it this way, if you crack the paint on the fiberglass one on something, you probably just cracked the airdam too... I've got a urethane airdam that was on the ITS car when it went into an embankment front end first... some of the paint did chip off, but it's useable as it is not hurt at all...I've never seen a urethane deform at race speeds enough to be noticeable from the pit lane... If you go with urethane, be sure whoever paints it, sands it, primes it, and most importantly puts the right amount of flex additive in the paint.

440 would end up putting more HP to the ground than a Hemi if the amount of money spent is equal.. Hemi's and parts are just too darn expensive...Only thing wrong would be the money you'd have to spend on as many aluminum parts as possible to keep the weight of any of the big blocks down.... My money would be on the the new stroked 360 crate engine with 400+HP for under 5K...:devious: By the way, I found the pic of the 354(?) Hemi in the yellow Z over on hybridz... guess the pic has made its rounds of nearly all the Z sites...
