The TOPY 1-70 means that the wheels were manufactured in January of 1970. As you've already heard, they are 4 1/2" wide and 14" diameter.

  4. I think that it looks so good that I might just try the bumper design on my next 240Z. I don't know about the grill emblem yet. It might grow on me. I even copied the photo for my Webshots screen saver program too (with proper credits to you).

The 1970 belts had a different buckle than the 1972 and didn't retract. They also had the date of manufacture (month/year) on a white cloth tag sewn onto the belt. I can't help you find a set since I'm restoring an early 1970 Z myself.
  6. Stan, I'm in a suburb of Richmond, VA. E-mail me at zsource@hotmail.com if you still have the car.
  7. I had to fly all the way to los Angeles to find it, but I bought car number HLS30-00040 and had it shipped back to Virginia. Now I can have a good time restoring it. Hopefully, my biggest problem will be in deciding what original color to paint it. Thanks for the replies.

Put a bit more zip in your Z by replacing the 3.36:1 with a 3.54:1 that has a ring and pinion that look like new. $75. I'm in a suburb of Richmond, VA in case you want to pick it up.
  9. Erik, From the photo, your car looks great. I'd definitely like to see it. E-mail me and I can also give you information about a Z-car club here in Richmond as well as a pair of Z shows coming up in May. Ben
  10. I'm rapidly approaching retirement and my days of stripping the parts from junker Zs and fixing up the cars worth saving are drawing to a close. My wife has therefore given the thumbs up to my buying a 1970 240Z (7/70 or earlier manufacture date) that I have to do very little or nothing to make it perfect. A Vintage Z Program car, one that has been otherwise restored or an excellent, well cared for original would fit the bill. Is there one out there with my name on it? Price is always an object but I know what's reasonable depending on the condition and rarety of the car. I've flown across the country to buy a car before so you don't necessarily have to be near me. E-mail me and send pictures. Ben Herman zsource@hotmail.com

There was a kit car back in the 1980s known as the Phantom that had lines a lot like the coupe version of this Pontiac concept car. Just the same, I hope they build it. I'd have a hard time deciding between the convertible and the coupe.

Bob, Where can I find Brian Little? There's a Z club in Richmond, VA that I'd like to invite him to join if he's still in the area. zsource@hotmail.com

Motorsprt Auto ( 800 633-6331) offers a G-nose kit for $749.95 but each of the headlight covers costs $200. It definitely makes the car look different but is it worth $1,149.95? Also, you don't get the wheel well flares that came with the original Nissan kit.

I have an LD-28 crank for sale for $250 plus shipping from Midlothian, VA. E-mail me at zsource@hotmail.com. Ben Herman
  15. About fifteen years ago, I purchased several thousand dollars worth of new Nissan parts for a 7/70 240Z I intended to restore. However, the "gentleman" I contracted with to weld in new patch panels didn't use a MIG welder as promised. He therefore totally ruined the car. I eventually had to scrap it. I'm now looking for another 1970 Z (the earlier the better) to restore using all of the NOS parts I still have stored away. Is there one out there for a reasonable price?

I know that it's been almost a year, but do you still have your Z for sale?

I notice that J.C. Whitney still offers the one piece front-end for the 240Z for about $600 plus shipping by truck. Has anyone bought and installed one of these kits? If so, how was the fit and finish? Was the job pretty straight-forward?
