  1. some one either gouge my eyes out or kill who ever created this monstrosity I'm all for customizing Z's but that is a horrible, horrible idea
  2. Well the summer nationals were this past weekend and I coud not find a single Z car in attendance :disappoin . Next year I'm putting mine in the show whether its done or not so there will be at least one Z there. I attached a few pictures from the show if anyone's interested (the one of the G35 was pretty funny, the rumor was that it was a rental car ).
  3. Buy the JTR book!! Very informative and gives you 90% of the info you need. So far as problems, high hp motors wreck the u-joints but the diffs seem to stay together very well, if you try to cut corners on the cooling system you will probably have problems, and remember to keep the weight of the engine down (as much aluminum as possible) to keep the weight distribution/handling as close to stock as possible. Good Luck! My 100th post!!!!! =)
  4. I'm not sure what a flywheel resurfacing would go for but its easy to take out if your doing the clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing too. I just did my clutch a few months ago and it was not an excessivley hard job, TBK1's explanation is a pretty one, but having a factory service manual always helps. BTW I got my clutch kit (includes the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and the clutch guide tool) at autozone for $100, its not a performance one or anything but it works good and it grabs good enough to spin the tires when I want to. Doing the clutch adjustment is kind of a PITA though because there is not much space there and I had to contort myself like a gymnast to get at the damn thing, but I'm 6'3" and 200lbs so hopefully you'll have better luck . Only other thing I can think of is I wouldnt recomend doing this job by yourself. I tried and the whole time I was thinking "I so shouldve called some one to help me muscling this thing in and out" It is possible though Good Luck! =)

Yup, good thread! I've seen that one before I'm no expert on this but I would think it was offered as an option of some sort, mainly because of these photo's/ad's I found, let me know what you think.

That rear quarter panel I'm 90% sure was a piece that was made for the Scarab Z cars back in the seventies. Thats the original application but I'm not sure how you would replicate that today other than through custom body work. I does look sooooooo nice though =)
  7. I definitely agree with Mike on this one, manuals are the way to go for any sports/weekender car and auto's are best suited for daily drivers. I have a manual in my current daily driver and while I do enjoy it, its also alot of work sometimes when youre just trying to get to work or something like that. Therefore I think my next daily driver is going to be an automatic.
  8. , 1 Bravo 6, the flat bed driver that picked up the car actually said something similar "Gives a new meaning to doing a burnout"

I've been a member of this site for a year now so I guess I should contribute to this thread . I have a 1978 280Z, 5 speed, without airconditioning, 80,000 original miles and its all original with the exception of a turbo muffler. Its not a nice car really (yet anyways) but it has no structual rust and has been very reliable for me so far, even though its really only a weekend car.
