  1. Thank you for this information.
  2. South Jersey, Lumberton.
  3. I live in New Jersey and have 78 Z car. Is anyone aware of a shop that will re-plate my yellow chromate parts, e.g. fuel rails, etc.?
  4. Greetings, I have a 78 Z and am refreshing the engine compartment. My overflow bottle has tarnished with age and I was wondering what others have done to clean it and brighten the plastic. Apparently, there are no NOS replacements available and I want to keep the bay as stock as possible, so don't want to replace with a generic version. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Ron, I agree. I was visiting LA about 3 weeks ago and made the trip to Murrieta to visit DHM. I had a wonderful time there, conversing with Fred and Betty and touring the museum with Johnnie Gable. Her stories about Mr. K and the early history of Datsuns in CA are fascinating. They are obviously extremely passionate about the Datsun brand and my hat is off to them. I hope they can keep the museum open. Jim

Still looking for the answer to my question. Were the wiper arms on the 78 flat or gloss black from the factory? I want to repaint them to correct finish. Thanks.

I have a 78...were the wiper arms flat black or glossy black? They look flat to me, but the screws that hold them in look glossy.
  8. Greetings, I've searched past posts and haven't seen an answer to this question. My overflow tank has yellowed over the years and I'd like to clean it up. Has anyone found a technique for cleaning the inside and outside of the tank? Thank you.
  9. Hi, all. I live in South Jersey, about 45 minutes from Delaware. Keep me posted on any gatherings in the area.

I have "QQ" plates in NJ. While I got them about two years ago, here is what I remember: 1) For our non-New Jersey friends, the "QQ" is the prefix for a personalized historic car plate...car has to be at least 25 years old. 2) While the plates are meant for shows, weekend driving, etc., there is no stated mileage limit. 3) You need classic car insurance in order to get these plates. (I know, it sounds odd, but I guess that's how NJ ensures that you don't drive it very much.) 4) You never need to get the car inspected. Those are the highlights. The only negative factor I can think of is that you have to go to Trenton in order to obtain them. Jim

Hello, all. I have a pretty simple question. What is the difference between the L28 and L28E engine and which do I have? The VIN of my 78 280z is HLS30467776. I have a set of gaskets and seals that fit the 1978-1980 L28E engine. IF it turns out I have an L28 engine, will these gaskets and seals fit mine also? Thank you.

Welcome, Mike. What part of NJ are you from?
  13. There's a song named "This Girl of Mine" by White Animals (out of Nashville), and one of the lines is "She’s my woman, I’m never gonna let her go." It came out in the early 80's I believe.
  14. Hi, all. I have a 78 Z and am missing one wingnut that closes the air cleaner housing. Does anyone have an extra one hanging around I can buy? Thanks, Jim

...this thread brings back memories. My first car was a 1962 Ford Falcon which had been totalled and crudely repaired. My father paid $25.00 for it and gave it to me for my 16th birthday in 1969. It was a piece of crap, but it was mine and it ran well. About a year later, I traded up to a 1962 Mercury Comet for $50.00....
