Hi, im looking into buying a turbo for my 1976 280z . It is still fuel injected. I was wondering what i would need for this job as for parts other than the manifold and the turbo itself. Never had a car with a turbo so im new to them. Any input is welcome! Also if anyone is selling or knows of someone who is selling one im interested! =)

260 is on the bottom 240 is on top, they are both identical. the 240 one has a little rust on it, im not even sure if that is a 260 one i just found it in the back of one .... anyways here they are!

ive got 2 never saw this post 1 is painted chrysler orange and its off a 260z but i used it on my 240 and it was fine, the other is the one that came with the 240 never been touched but the stickers on it are almost unreadable. pic one! =P pics are availible upon request. I do have the backplate to. The 260 and 240 air cleaners seem near identical havent found a difference in them. I think i even have the bolts to mount it... have to check on that one oh and im in massachusetts so shipping shouldnt be TOOO bad if ur in south carolina

i cant realy give u a straight up response because i dont know if mine was just the "bad" luck of the draw but i had a 72 240z that was formerly rust repaired and it appeared to be fine, however after a month of owning it the rockers turned out to be pure bondo along with the quarter pans. My suggestion would be to find out who did the body work, ask them some obvious questions like "did u weld rot holes or did u simply fill them in with bondo" The Z i purchased turned out to have a totally rotted unibody (rotted beyond repair). Another thing i would do is possibly run a magnet across the car and see how much bondo is actually on it You cant really say stay away from them, but when u buy a formerly rust repaired car your taking a risk but with propper inspection of it you may end up with a better car than you expected, or the total opposite in my case

Just get a oil filler cap before u run the car again, and if u cant get one immediately, just cover it with sometihng.. I dont know how strong the vaccum is but maybe a strong rubberband an tinfoil ( not syraan rap cuz it might melt) just a thought

They know we have to pay it so they do whatever the hell they want to do ( they as in pump prices) I bet after the hurricane has done its thing these prices wont even drop because we are already paying it... we have no choice. In my opinion its bullshiznit. They have the oil they just use it as an excuse. upping the gas price isnt makin less buyers, its still the same amount of oil being distributed. our demand is being supplied, when we need gas we can get it.

i didnt really shop around today for gas but i saw 2.89 for regular... freakin ridiculous

i fully intend to get a new battery anyways... its just to move it around while im restoring it =)

well i went out after chargin the battery for an hour and it was an instant start up. heh... it feels good when its something that small but i feel stupid when i go threw all this trouble to post everything and it turns out to be the battery... Thanks for ur responses though =)

Alright well im lettin the battery charge as we speak cuz i thought iot might be that i just found it amazing for it to drain it that fast ( about 6 fast starts) As for that test heh... The car is pretty much an engine and a shell so ill just charge it up and take it from there.. Thanks for the response just seein if this had happened to anyone before and cancelling out what it couldnt be the problem

Ok well as i was screwin around with my Z today i had to move it several times. Over time i noticed that the starter started to slow down and slowdown . Then when i finally had to pull it back into my yard she cranked really fast then slowed down acting like the battery was dead. So i went over, looked over all the connections, cleaned em and still no luck. I hooked up a battery charger and it did nothing. So i put in one of my spare starters and solenoid off my parts car.. which i KNEW worked. I mounted it, wired it all up went to crank it and the same damn thing happened... Any suggestions hear?

Hey... thanks for all the responses. I think i can get one for free through my friend. If this doesnt happen i now know where to look! Anyways appreciate all your time. And by the way i do have a pick and pull but theres only 2 datsun in the whole entire 200 acres or sumthin like that which i find is amazing. They even have a whole rolling GTO Body. If anyone ever needs parts gimme a holler and i can find out if this place has em they are really cheap too... i took shifter boots, air cleaner box, gas cap, and a buch of other stuff for only 10 bucks. =) just some reference if u ever run into a hard to find part for some of your cars

wow haha i cant take the music but i love all Z's =) The sound of the engine made me want to go put my Z all back together and drive it however the guy singing made me want to kill myself

scan the car with a magnet aswell, the more bondo you find the more rust your prone to find under body pannels ( ares where it hasnt been rust treated) Also look at the frame rails and ETC If your new to the Z and areas its prone to rusting post a reply so that way we can tell you exactly what to look for and expect.

that is a fantastic looking Z i love it, as for the rims i like em partialy because i love the american look ( i have american racing rims on my Z) i say go with what you think looks best try viewing some other Z's on this site. About how much was ur G nose from MSA?

my 240z had a half cap and it was velcroed (sp?) on. it looked "ALRIGHT" even like that. i say anything looks better than cracks. however ill most likely buy a full cap just cuz there cheap and look much better IMO
