  1. well i just cleansed the gas... dumped 2 new fresh gallons of gas in it and nuthin... im baffled. I just rechecked my connections and vaccum hoses. everything is fine. Could it be possible that my throttle body went? i accidently spilt coolant in the connector, but i cleaned it all out and it wasnt hooked up when i did this. If so i have a spare one but im not sure it works... .. Any way of checking? anyways any help is appreciated like i said before im baffled!
  2. I couldnt make the EGR valve fit without some fabrication so i temporarily plugged it and the egr metal tube is just kinda chillen there (should i plug that aswell?) Ill do the gas check right now and ill fabricate the heat shield to fit. As for all my connections they seem fine. Ill run through it again to make sure. Thanks for all the responses and ill keep you all posted on what happened/didnt happen =) and yes the engine is cranking.. heh i have 2 spare starter motors that work so i think im set there aswell
  3. did you hit any animals while you were driving? maybe it got caught in there... i dont recomend licking it in that case....
  4. I recently just replace my Cali 280z's exhuast(stupid catylitic converter) with a 240z exhaust and might i ad it fit perfectly however I put on the whole entire fuel injection system, but the heat shield doesnt fit in because the exhaust manifold is slightly different. It fits perfectly without the heat shield. Since i no longer have a cat could i just get rid of the shield or should i fabricate it to fit properly. Also i cant get the damn thing running again. It smells like there might be water in the gas so i added some of the HEET water removal stuff but still nuthin. It ran alright on this gas before, but ill drain it and try again, if this doesnt work what should i look over? i check all my connections they seem fine, Im gettin gas and spark to the plugs... i just dont get it! =P maybe the gass is the problem but if not im baffled

  8. well i was surfin through the net lookin for some Z pics so i could get a good goal for my 280z and i came across this... it said it happened during an earthquake and i think that the garage roof did fall on it... which sucks... i cant look at it!!!
  9. thankfully no one was in it that i know of... its still just depressing.....
  10. Imagine waking up in the morning and seein this in your garage...
  11. welll i had a very nice thing happen to me today. I had never really bothered to see if my 280 was a 5 speed so i was just twidlin the shift lever bein kinda bored thinkin of what i should do next to my Z and i go 1st gear, 2nd 3rd 4th and wait wats this.... 5th? no way! it turns out someone did a 5 speed tranny swap. At first i wasnt sure maybe it was just like loose linkage or something and it could just go into that position but i checked it all and it has a 5th gear. I even checked to see if my parts car 4 speed did the same thing but it didnt. So i guess i dont need to spend all this money on a tranny afterall. YAY! :classic:
  12. 300 is alot to take a chance with... ill talk to the people in person and find out the deal with it. It could have already been rebuilt i honestly dont know, i just found it through there parts listings. Maybe i can talk em down some =P. I went there a little while back and pulled up a bunch of parts and it only cost me 10 bucks ( i got shifter boots, lights, air cleaner box, bulbs, and uhh... ohh yah a gas cap.) Ill do some moree searchin before i just jump on this one. Anyways do i need any other parts to do this swap? will it fit nicely like my 4 speed? not have to get a new shift lever or anything... I dont really know to much about these trannys and how close they really are to eachother.
  13. Ok after some searching i found a 1982 280z non turbo 5 speed tranny in the local bone yard. The tranny has 160k miles on it =( and they are asking $300. Is this worth it? and will i most likely have to rebuild the tranny? Ohh yah and most importanly this will fit in my 1976 280z right?

yah if not more... I notice different gas station prices will vary 10-20 cents per gallon even if they are right next to one another... Really odd
  16. Well on my 240z when i first tried getting it running it did the same clicking noise. Try clearing all corosion and grease and dirt ETC from the starter (where the wires attatch to it) You may just be gettin a bad connection to it. After i did this it turned over no problem. Also you may want to clean the gas tank and blow compressed air through the lines so you can clear it all of gunk and grime.

The only reason you cant find pics of the battery tray area is because they are ashamed to show it damn rust!
  18. Why restore a Z? Well i chose a Z to restore over every other car i could have because A: its easy to work on B: parts are obtainable C: there is no other car quite like it D: its fast depending on what you do to it. E: Handles amazingly F:It just looks... coool I could do the whole damn alphabet. I think the question is Why not restore a Z?

gas around here is about $2.30 - $2.60 per gallon in american dollars... kinda ridiculous. EDIT: this is just regular gas.. not premium
  20. thanks for all the responses guys, and yes i mean inexpensive ( not cheap ) i certainly wouldnt want any damage done to either me or the car.
