ive been interested in rally racing for awhile now and it was actually any option and still is for my Z.... I live in Massachusetts and would really love to get into this. I dont know whats around in my area but i know new hampshire seems to be a real race place. I dont really want my Z to be a daily driver, i want it to be something special ( not that its not special being a Z and all). Well some details about my Z is that its a 76 cali 280z. Its in restoration now, doing everything right and restoring it properly, came with new fenders , headlight buckets, headlight covers and so on. I believe it has a new suspension in it, possibly tockico lowering springs cuz it sits lower than most Z's. Ive been into racing stuff for awhile. I have been rippin around on a dirt bikes for the past 10 years, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling ( im just a racing kinda guy =P) Anyways ill stop rambling and ask my questions finaly. What would i need to do to my Z to rally it? where could i rally it? how the hell do i get in to it? thanks!

its not that bad but the air bags went off so its gunna cost u some $$$ to fix that if u were going to. everythings repairable it just depends on if ur up to it.

was that a saturn u were in? my bro JUST bought one of those for commuting back and forth to school... nice little car... really safe... glad u didnt get hurt man!

id rather put the 50k towards a early 1970 z and restore it back to absolute mint and original condition than buy some weird arse thing. That is no longer a Z

not a bad idea bill... ive got a bunch of spare trim from the doors, i wonder if i could weld up a frame and fill it with plexy glass or sumthin.... ive got a set of headlight covers but they would look nice with a chrome trim. Ill attempt it and post some details

i have very few spare 280z parts. most of what i have for a 280z is off the 240 but just compatible. I believe i have like a spare wiper switch, ECU that im not sure if it works, a fuel injector relay ( i believe thats what its called) that im not sure once again if it works, a few side markers, heater assembley, and a starter directly for a 280z. I would honestly like to keep these parts because i have a 76 280z im restoring and may come handy down the road but if someone really needs one of these i guess i could sell em. Might i add for those interested in the 240 that most exterior body panels are shot on except the hood but its a victim of bondo... The doors are aswell but very easily repairable but they are totally stripped door skins. Please buy these parts as winter is comnig soon and i dont have a place for them except in the snow with the rust bugs.

seeing this makes me want to cry, i parted out my 72 240z cuz i couldnt find a shell in nice condition... Ohwell, now i have a cali 76 280z...

gunna need some more info on the car.. What year? hows the condition everywhere else, what are ur skills in welding? are u willing to devote time and money into it?. Pics of the rest of the car and areas that are prone to rusting ( frame rails, doglegs, rear quarters, rockers, inner rockers, floor pans, floor support rail and so on) would help out. Post some pics of it and we'll be able to tell you more

carbs and intake are gone on the Z except 1 intake part, and as far as the brackets go i have em but i might be using them, not sure yet ill get back to you. Anything u really need for a 240 i should have, ive sold little off it and its about 80-90% complete

i am usually one who learns with practice. Ive had experience with a mig welder and might i add that was a hell of alot easier than arc. i think im goin to get a small mig for this job and return this arc welder. Would a small gassless mig cut it? one of those portabtle 110v ones? I used one for some welding on a 4-wheeler frame and it worked perfect. I plan on doing patches in the frame rail, floor boards, and unibody.

well i just went out and bought a new 40-100 amp arc welder to learn how to weld ( i didnt have the $$$ for a mig , but what are you gunna do) Anyways i was hoping to use this welder for repairs on my Z. I was screwing around today with some rusty old exhaust pipes and some random bolts to see if i could weld at all but i seem to be havin trouble. It says to "strike" the arc but nothings striking. I can slide the stick across and make a million little beads but it wont stay "struck" so i can hold it the proper distance away from the object being welded. Any tips? i thought i set the amperage right, im using 3/32" welding rods with 90 amps of power. Maybe itl just take practice, maybe im gettin a bad ground on the object im not sure. Any input on arc welding is appreciated.

eww... my 280z has this problem im afraid to cut it up to weld it

it turned out the adjustments for the arm somehow loostened up and it just popped off, so i adjusted it and tightened it back up and all is well. thanks for the help!

been sitting since 99' and it has 150k miles on it so it is most likely that... thanks where can i get that oil?

well the arm that rubs on the cam to trigger the valve to go up and down randomly decided to pop off on my Z (just one of em) made a terrible screeching noise and absolutely killed all the power in my car, any reason why it did this? reccomendations as to what to do next? nothing seems broken or ever scratched. All input is welcome

just tryin to keep this up on the front page that way if anyone needs some parts they know who to ask! =P still alot of the car left, dont hesitate to ask it is goin fast!
