Maybe there was nothing on it, but that seems odd, although I can't find anything to connect it to. Its just above the battery on the engine side of the harness. 4 prongs.

Where do they go? I took my engine out 9 months ago, and am finally getting it back for Zdayz. I think the positive and fusible link go to the + on the starter selonoid, and the negative goes to the upper starter mounting bolt. Is that correct? (negative cable not yet installed)
  4. I was bidding on one on ebay recently, and I think it went over $200. I gave up at 100.
  5. I have a complete set. Any ideas here what its worth?
  6. while a lot of places refer to it as hot tanking, they don't actually hot tank anymore due to epa regs, but place the block in a burn off oven instead and burn everything off. That can still leave ash and other scale type deposits in it.

The corvette driver didn't know how to drive. You could see the fear in his eyes.

Actually, thats a relatively slow track. I've been there many a times when I had a 350, and those times were right in line for a stock 350z. We had a big group of us 350z and G35 owners that used to go regularly on friday nights. The track down in Macon is about 1/2 second quicker. The Z was just out muscled on that track.
  9. yes, it turns out the rings were the wrong size. I got new ones and everything is going together fine now. Thanks!

I think it suits the 240 better than the 350! Nice work.

http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21210&highlight=350z 350z seats. The manual ones are the same width, height and thickness of the original seats, and with creative mounting, you get more headroom.
  12. I don't know if its the way I am measuring, if I got the wrong rings sent to me or what! To start: F54 block / P90 head, standard dished pistons. The engine ran fine, no blow by or excessive oil consumption, just lower compression than I wanted. I am upgrading to Nissan Motorsports cast pistons, in stock bore. I had the block hot tanked and honed. I measure the bores at 3.386 inches, 86.01mm which is in spec according to the clymer manual, but when I slide a ring into the cylinder to check the end gap, it comes out to about 4mm instead of the .2 to .4mm it should be. I don't know what to do at this point. I thought the machine shop took too much material off when honing, so first I bought a set of used oversized pistons from Dannys Datsuns and was going to bring the block back to get it bored, but they wound up being L24 oversized pistons when they arrived, so that was a waste of $150. I thought maybe I got rings for an L24 instead of an L28, but the rings I have are larger than the L24 rings that came on the above pistons. I just got another block from a friend, but its actually been overbored already, as its got 87mm bores. a couple of pictures I didn't use this caliper to measure the bores, I used a dial gage, this is just for illustration and is not accurate.

nice, but how can you use California plates over there?
  14. I just bought a set from Danny's Datsuns. His only set, but unfortunately, they are for a 240z and not a 280z, so I could sell them to you for $125 shipped. They are used and .5mm overbore. I need to have them dismounted from the rods first, as I'm probably going to use the rods with AZcar forged pistons now though.

R200 or R200V according to the FSM.
  16. here you go. its the black rubber/plastic ring in the hole on the right side of this picture.

We've been having a similar discussion on a powdercoating forum that I am a member of. There is no one 'british racing green', but several that have been used by the different british manufacturers over the years. Rolls used 3 different shades as early as the '20s. RAL6005 is the accepted shade in most british car clubs. Not that this directly applies here, but interesting nonetheless.
  18. taking a 260 block up to 86mm? shouldn't be a problem should it?
  19. 2003z replied to Dreco's post in a topic in Wheels & Brakes
    205/50-15 on 15x7+0 with a 1" spacer
  20. if you don't I will! That seems like a really good price too.
  21. L28 86mm These are the slightly domed ones. It turns out I need to have my block rebored as it is now slightly out of limits after rehoning. Unfortunately, they don't have these in oversize anymore. They are currently mounted on my rods, so I can't put them for sale yet, but they are new and have new rings also. __________________

I prefer the hood I had on my 350z to the new one. Its got a bit of the 240 look to it. Of coures, there was a reason for my hood bulge
  23. 2003z replied to hls30.com's post in a topic in Polls
It was a headon view, so the hood length didn't show. It was of designers working on a clay model of the 240, and it had no bumper. Withouth the bumper, head on, the 350 looked similar. Unfortunately, no still shots.

thought we were talking about the same friend. Not too many enthusiast parts managers in Savannah! anyhoo, I have a video from one of the car tv shows that shows on the 350z. they have a part that shows a clay model of a 240, and without the front bumper the 240 and 350 front ends look remarkably the same.

Doesn't Mike actually race a Cobra? I've owned several 240zs, a 350z and a G35 coupe. The 350z is one of the best cars for the buck out there, and it looks great too. Yes, the G also looks great, but its still a different car for a different market. Nissan, nor any car company, (lotus not withstanding) will ever bring a pure sports car to market again, so we should just get over it.
