70 Z Bought on EBay...ROAD TRIP!!
I use a tow dolly to take my car to the track. Longest is a 5 hour drive with no problems. Like mentioned above, its only auto trannys that you have to worry about.

black primer
I believe with a candy paint job, you will start out with a silver base coat, so the primer color shouldn't be a problem.

How do I remove pistons from the caliper?
Not everyone has air. I do use air myself, but I have also used the bolt on a brake that had a leaky seal. It was not a 240z brake though. I was just offering another possible solution, not trying to start a huge debate!

How do I remove pistons from the caliper?
I meant to say it "wouldn't". It works on single piston brakes though. typo on my part.

HSR Mitty '06 to feature Japanese Sportscars
They don't even sponsor drift. Its all independant. Performance Nissan and Schuitemaker Motorsports both ran Zs in Grand AM, but I've seen Schuitemakers cars for sale in Autoweek lately, and I think Performance has scaled way back too. As for the move to Tennessee, Autoweek speculated that they may lose as much as 70% of their US staff. Nissan seems to think 40-45% though. They mentioned how Toyota and Hyundai are hiring in socal now, and people don't want to move.

HSR Mitty '06 to feature Japanese Sportscars
Nissan was supposed to be the corporate sponsor, but pulled out. Its Mazda now. They were going to fly in some vintage race cars from california, but thats out now.

How do I remove pistons from the caliper?
On opposing piston brakes it would. I can't remember what the stock 240s are as I don't have them anymore. As for the thread pitch, its 10mmx1.0 and there are no seals. My home business is powdercoating brakes, and I do 10-30 sets per month, but mostly corvette brakes now. The point is, there is one seal inside of a brake and it runs the circumference of the pison, right next to the pad. Brakes are really simple, once you've taken them apart.

How do I remove pistons from the caliper?
screw it in and the end of the bolt will push the piston out as you do.

How do I remove pistons from the caliper?
for future thread searchers, you can also use a long bolt of the same thread pitch as the input line. Just screw it into the back and it will contact the piston and push it out.

Repsrayed 280ZX
Its very pretty, but why the clear coat between the base coats? Or put another way, why did you put another base coat on after wetsanding, why not just clear?

Polished Parts Warning
I've got an L28 engine cover that I am going to be powdercoating and that exact thought crossed my mind when looking at it the other day and deciding how to prep. For valve covers, I just leave the prep to simple green, no blasting. Now if I could only decide on what color to do it.

Faux chrome for detailing trim pieces
thats pretty cool! I will have to remember it.

Suspension Paint and Prep Questions
easiest way, but it takes a dedicated non food oven. Place in oven and put self clean cycle on. Everything will burn off of it. Then remove any surface rust by soaking in muriatic acid and follow up with eastwood's metal wash to prevent flash rust.

How do I remove pistons from the caliper?
on double piston brakes I use a piece of 2x4, then 1x4 to block them from coming totally out at once and thus ensure both pistons come out, and not just one. Compressed air for me.

Straw poll: 240Z to ZX alternator adapter
I'm not in your target audience, unless you want to add people who have the ability, but are lazy enough that paying $25 for it would be worth the time and trouble. Count me in.

Oil pressure sending unit ??
thats what I figured, its more for peace of mind. But the real question is, with the stock sender, is the oil pressure really low, or is it fine? Could just be that corrosion on 30-35year old wire has built up enough resistance to lower the signal. I'm pretty sure that all of us with the indications don't have low oil pressure.

Oil pressure sending unit ??
I have been told that to solve the gauge problem, use a sender from a fairlady roadster. Supposedly MSA sells it and they will know what you need if you call them.

HF powder coat gun update
I never planned on it either. I did my 350z brakes and a friends and put some pictures up on the 350z websites and business started coming. My day job is a pilot for Delta Airlines, which is bankrupt, and after a 33% paycut last december and an impending 20% paycut any day, I decided to start a real business, business license and all. Now I'm a paying vendor on the largest corvette forum and they have been keeping me really busy. I'm just fortunate I found a skill I could do well that people actually want to have done. I got the board from my neighbor. He is an AC contractor and a 4'x8'x1" sheet cost me $23. BARACU, I use columbiacoatings a lot myself. I actually think they have the best high gloss clear on the market, but as an eastwood buyer's club member, I pay no shipping for stuff I buy from them, which makes them my favorite. Thanks for the tip MikeW.

Here is my oven extension: and a slider I use to make it even bigger. I designed it to fit the rear bumper, but haven't gotten around to pulling the bumper off next, as it appears the gas tank has to come out to reach the side mounting bolt. If anyone needs larger items like a valve cover or drip rails, let me know. I specialize mostly in calipers, but you can see examples of my work at the website in my signature.

HF powder coat gun update
You would be better off with Eastwood's starter set. You get a lot more 'useful' items with it. Like the candy red you get with caswell, they aren't telling you that it needs to be applied over a chrome powder base, not included. And who needs pine green powder? Besides Eastwood is 10% off everything til the end of the month. I started off with the eastwood starter kit, and now that I have a functioning business, have moved up to their pro gun. Lance, welcome to the world of powder, its a highly rewarding hobby!
