i need to swap out my dual pt. dizzy with the electronic igniton type. Is it as simple as disconnected the second set of points and install a single point type dizzy? i have a automatic so would this effect my timing? Has anyone done this or know who to turn me onto who has? I was interested in the pertonix setup but they say it would not work with my current dizzy. HELP ME! i really want this upgrade. There has to be something that can be done.thanks for your help! suntadz

yes you helped me a great deal. I have a couple manuals and they did seem to tell me wht i needed, but u did. It all make sense now. Im pretty much going to do the same as u. I did have a couple questions though. The water valve u capped off, does this shut the water down after operating temp is reached? Or am i gogint to always have water going through the intakes? Also about the erg system, someone has taken out the smog pump and various items but i dont know what still is working. I dont think i need the erg anymore but not sure when i switch my hoses around if i should leave it intact.Let me know thanks., suntadz

I have recently got a 72 240z stripped down. I was interested in building a rotisserie unit to mount the car on while i do some restoration work. I have heard all you have to do is get 2 engine stands and build a jig to connect to the bumper mounts? Is this all there is to it? Has anyone done this and can give me some pointers on what to do? mabey some places on where to get the parts for this? Thanks.

i just came across a 72 240z. It was in the garage of the original owner in pieces. This guy is about 70 and bought the car new. In the mid 80's he said it was having some engine trouble so he decided to overhaul it. He took the engine out then decided not to stop there. He took everything off. I mean everthing. Fenders, all suspension, differntial, and most of the interior. It sat up on block like that since then in his garage. The body look fantastic. Not the slightest bit of rust anywhere. The paint even looked good. The dash was intact and look very good with no cracks and even the original stereo. He had every part he took off hanging around either on the wall or in the rafters. WELL my question is, is it worth it? I would love to rebuild it and since it was all taken apart it would be ez to slap in a upgraded suspension and paint the thing inside and out. then worry about putting in a 2.8 and all that. But how would i get it home since it is all up on blocks? I cant seem to figure out how? The wheels are gone and all the a-arms and mounts are off. I would have to carry it on a flat bed i guess? He only wants a couple hundred for it so the parts alone would be worth my time but i must take everything. Any hints on what to do? Let me know. Thanks, SunTadZ

i got a 73 240 that seems to have an electrical problem.; I was driving it when the tach dropped to nothing and all my gauges went out. The choke light an fasten seat belt dont work now along with the turn signals? The alt. and regulator were replaced not to long ago. Anyone know what this could sond like? suntadz

my door won't open from the inside anymore. It just happened yesterday. Any suggestions on what to look for? how to fix? thanks suntadz

i got a 73 240z and have recently put in a stereo. After i got it all in i found out that the heater blower motor wont come on. I did clean up some of the wiring in there when putting in the stereo but dont think i disconnected anything. I was wondering if anyone new what wires to check? I think once before the ground wire came off the motor a mechanic told me but i dont know which wire that is? Anyone got a clue? anything else i could check? It really suck driving in the winter withourt a window defroster. Also i noticed that my rear defroster still works but takes forever to defrost the window. Is there a way to put a little more juice in it to defrost the windows quicker? Any ideas on that? Let me know if anyone has run into these types of problems. Thanks a bunch.... I sure love my Z and once before with a previous car without the defroster i hit a parked car cause i couldnt see. I sure dont want that to happen again... Suntadz:confused:
