  1. Don't want to pour cold water on your optimism but before you do anything I would recommend you have a more thorough examination of the shell. If the visible items are shot as you suggest then there's a fair chance the usual hidden Z nasties are going to rear their ugly heads. Take the front outer fenders off and check the "tubes" that run on top of the inner fender. Check the inner fender itself for rot. Thoroughly check all the frame rails, inner sills, trunk floor, inner rear fenders. There are others but that's enough for now! A lot of these items are no longer available and you may find out your patches are bigger than you anticipated! The reason for my apparent pessimism is that here in the UK we have pretty similar road conditions and nearly all our Z's have had extensive body rebuilds.
  2. Check this site out www.zparts.com It's all in there somewhere. Is the 5speed the one youv'e always had in or was it a 4speed before?

Company in the UK has just started to produce 63mm long studs for the 240 et al at around $3.00 apiece. www.trackstore.co.uk
  4. I suspected all along that your bearing throwout collar was wrong. They relate to the gearbox you are using [ 4 speed or 5 speed ]. There are actually 4 different collars.
  5. Maybe we are not talking the same language here! If it's the same diameter, has a tapering flat side and can be bolted up one side then it's a bicycle cotter pin in England!
  6. Don't you have bicycle shops in the states? You'll get a bolt [ cotter pin ] to match there.

Just curious, but why if it's right hand drive does it have a mirror on the left fender ? Also comes with those crappy flat top emmission carbs which most owners of 260's here in the UK have long since thrown away.
  8. Pity you can't minimize it and send it over to the UK in a shoebox ! As a matter of interest what gears do you have in the close gear tranny ?
  9. So why can't you run a direct line from the MC to the rear brakes with an inline balance adjuster?
  10. I know the Z brake proportioning valve adjusts pressure to the brakes, but how does it actually work? If you took it out would you get more pressure to the fronts or the rears?
  11. Which Z you talking about. I suspect it's a 260? You say youv'e loosened the bolts. Does that mean youv'e removed them altogether?

Dependant on which 5speed your'e using governs which drive shaft you should use. The earlly tranny uses a flange type output whereas the later one uses a sliding spline connection. There are also a number of different lengths, three I think. The input to the diffs are the same flange connection on R200s and R180S.

Yes, thanks for that on behalf of ALL UK residents and visitors to our islands. I dont live in London but feel for them just the same.
