Koni Red Rear Shocks
IIRC the Koni reds must be removed from the car for adjustment, or at least the springs compressed and pulled from the struts. The adjustment mechanism is to collapse the rod completely and then twist the rod to adjust. Unlike the Tokico Illuminas, the Koni red adjustment is not designed to allow adjustment for different road or driving conditions, but instead to compensate for wear. So they don't need to be super easy to adjust, you are only supposed to need to do it after many 10's of thousands of miles.

Finally getting started!!
Brian, this is amazing. I can't wait to see it running. Maybe by Canby if you hurry??

Need pics of a stock 240Z downpipe
That would be great, Mike. I'd like to know how long the pipe is after the Y, the OD at the end, and perhaps the approximate amount that the pipe offsets to the center of the car after the Y. Any of this you can provide will help.

Need pics of a stock 240Z downpipe
I'm laying plans for a new exhaust later this summer. As I try to decide what to keep, what to buy and what to build, I'd really like to see pictures of a complete stock downpipe for a '70-72 240Z. Mine has been modified and I need to decide how (or if) that affects my plans. Does anyone have one off the car that they can take pictures of, and maybe a measurement or two?

I thought that you would think that way, Enigma...

Big ooops! Please save help me save my Z.
While it should run on four cylinders, getting it started from cold on four cylinders using the choke might be tricky, especially if everything isn't adjusted just right yet.

Big ooops! Please save help me save my Z.
I can't see how there could be much in the way of permanent or even semi-permanent damage from trying to start it with the plug wires off. Are you certain the two wires in question have been replaced on their proper plugs? Not reversed?

NY Times article about a dude and his 280z
There were two threads on this, so I merged them into one single thread.

Where do we all live? New shared Google map
I miscounted above, and we've added our first pin from Austrailia. Count so far: USA - 75 pins Canada - 5 pins R.o.t.W. - 6 pins

How do you like the front of your Z?

1971 240z
Interesting that you should say that, Cat. The car in this picture is now Ferrari red, and lost the side moldings in the process....

new member hoping for advice TODAY
In your part of the country? Probably not. If you're willing to fly out West, that kind of money (and careful shopping) can buy a 240Z with little to no rust. It'd be a longer drive home, though...

NEED HELP with my fuel system 260Z
The vent hoses go up to the vapor tank in the right pillar area. If you remove the interior plastic trim panels you can see all the hoses. They can be replaced, and if the tank has been dropped already it's not that hard to do. Or you can rework the system to eliminate the vapor tank, and a few of the hoses. But you can't simply cap them all off, as you need some of them for venting. Here's a link to a tech article I wrote a while back about the hoses themselves, might help you determine what you want to do with yours. Rating the factory 240Z fuel vent hoses

zs everywhere
Here in Oregon, it's not unusual for me to see S30s several times per week, even in the winter. I had some wheels changed at a local tire shop a couple of weeks ago, they told me that mine was the second 240Z they'd had in that day. Not as common as Hondas around here, but not rare, either.

MSA had the gas door bumpers last year, #34-1193. they used to offer the door lock seal too, but you may be able to get those from a local locksmith.

Where do we all live? New shared Google map
Click Edit, and click a pin to get the edit options.Looks like 77 valid pins so far. That's 67 in the USA, 5 in Canada and 5 for the rest of the world. Oddly, none from Australia, and none from California outside of the LA or Bay areas. I'd figured to see some other NorCal and San Diego pins by now. Also none in Arizona, and not nearly as many in Florida and Georgia as I had expected.

Rss for Z-point's website
Thanks, Z-point, RSS is a great way to ensure that you don't miss a new update. For Mac users (who don't have a system tray ), depending on the OS version, RSS feeds can be read in Safari or even Mail (10.5 only). But my favorite (and I use lots of RRS feeds) is RSS Menu, which is Donation-ware. Puts RSS feed notices on your menu bar, and supports Growl notifications as well.

I also have a spook from CDM, the fiberglass work is absolutely top notch.

I'm Bringing Back Tha Twin Stacks ^_^ !
Since I'm going to need a complete exhaust when I do it, I have considered the Monza. But I'm still not sold on the looks of the dual vertical tips on my car, and the yellow painted in the tips would look odd to me on my red car. But yellow tips on a yellow car... that's nice!

I'm Bringing Back Tha Twin Stacks ^_^ !
Made by Hedman, and available at places like Jegs and Summit. The single resonated tips are 2 1/2" outlets, and available in 2", 2 1/4" and 2 1/2" inlets. They have some nice dual resonated tips too, but only flat, not vertically stacked. http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?N=400143+306199+115&autoview=sku

Not an Emergency - but I can't find this part....
I bought an original about 2 1/2 years ago. Cloth-covered, and with the bottle-brush type flame arrestor inside it. But if that's no longer available, I agree, a length of oil-resistant hose to fit should work fine. If you are seriously after the OE look, you might also see if one of the later 280Z hoses might be the same but longer, and able to be trimmed to fit.

Japanese Fairlady Z
I tried again and found that it does work in some browsers, depending on the plugins, I suppose. I didn't think it was supposed to work at all, thought Mike had disabled HTML posts as a security measure. Must be wrong.

5 Speed transmission identifying question.
I could be wrong, since we don't have a nice straight-on picture, but the bell housing to block bolt spacing doesn't look like it fits an L-series to me. Take a look at this picture, especially where the bolt holes are near the starter, and compare. http://www.classiczcars.com/classifieds/showfull.php?product=3741&bigimage=IMG_1103.jpeg

I'm Bringing Back Tha Twin Stacks ^_^ !
I like the looks of the Ansa tip, but really prefer a single tip to the duals (either stacked or flat). So when I have my exhaust redone, I'm planning to use one (and only one) of these.
