Jim, Panasports are a very high quality wheel, and the price is quite reasonable. This advice is right on the money. I know what ad you are looking at, know the seller personally, and live close enough that I could pick them up in person and avoid the freight. I haven't done so because - I don't care for that look all that much, certainly not enough to spend that much cash and still need to buy an expensive set of 16" tires.
  2. 502 Ivory was not the original color, as that was not offered on US 240Z. As a Series 1 with blue interior, it had to have been 904 Kilimanjaro white (or 903 Universal blue, which seems unlikely). There's been a couple of threads on 918 variations, with some later mixes looking a bit brownish. Try searching the posts of user a7dz, as he went through that on his original 918 car. For early cars, I'm very fond of 919 (yellow), 918, 903 (blue) or the 905 (red) of my car. But your blue interior is only good with white or blue. More info on color choices can be found at http://zhome.com/History/colors.html

Too many variables, the advice of the guy at the tire shop is on the right track. Things to consider beyond what you've mentioned so far - how sagged are the old stock springs now? What is the fender opening height now, and with what tire size? Do you have the stock front valance, or an air dam? If an air dam, which one? Even with all this, there are still no guarantees. You may still need to test fit first...

My gut feel without seeing the car? From your description I'd say bag it. You might be able to rebuild your engine within your budget, but if so, only barely. These jobs are always more expensive than they first seem. And it sounds to me as if the rest of the car probably isn't worth the investment, unless you decide that you really like the ZX with automatic and are willing refresh it and keep it for a long while.

I got mine from Nissan a couple years ago when I had it painted, I'm pretty certain mine were correct.

Congrats! Yes, your new car is a Series 1. Now the fun can begin. The bumper over-rider bars are aftermarket, but were frequently Dealer installed, especially later on. Made by Amco. Actually fairly common accessory. Some like 'em, some don't.
  8. Wow! Looks good. And your pictures bring back memories... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30588
  9. Absolutely. If I had a '72 or later that had that style ashtray, I doubt I'd be able to rest until I had a nice looking cover for it—it is SOOO visible that a worn or tattered cover tends to bring down the rest of the interior.Problem is, once I had a nice one like yours or Mike's, then I probably wouldn't be able to rest for fear something would happen to it! :stupid:
  10. I'm trying to imagine how I would deal with keeping that part nice-looking. And aside from threatening any who look to want to touch it, I'm failing. Fragile as they are, I think I prefer the plastic ashtrays of the '70-71 cars.
  11. I'm pretty certain I've seen cars from NorCal there in the past, but can't say that for certain. There is generally a pretty good contingent from the North though, both Washington and BC. I'm supportive of this - it's always good to see some different cars and faces.

The nylon spool is broken in the antenna. Very normal. The motor runs, but that's all.

Not factory, so who knows? You'll need to trace the wires and find out.

Please don't start more than one thread on the same topic. The other has been deleted.

Thanks for the clarification, Carl. Good info.

All North American 240Zs had air pumps. So yes, a properly "restored" 240Z in North America will have an air pump.

Actually, a speaker fits there just fine. I have a Kenwood there in my car. I built my own right side bracket by re-bending a spare left side bracket. Others have made rights side units from ABS sheet plastic.
  18. Spare wires are for an electric pump. Even cars that did not come with such a pump had the wires. Ignore 'em.
  19. Umm, DeTomaso Pantera was made in Italy, despite being sold at Lincoln-Mercury dealers. It is/was no more American than an Opel GT (made in Germany, sold at Buick dealers).

The '73 chamber in the head is different and larger, I recall. Probably has to do with that.

When I replaced my windshield, the local glass installer I contacted was more than happy to find one. I seem to recall he had mine shipped in from Spokane, or some such. No extra charge for shipping, as long as I could wait a few days. Probably could have found one closer/sooner except that I insisted on getting one w/o the tint band at the top. That was harder to find.
  23. I don't mind resistance, so I always check with Nissan first.

Yup, mid-to-late '80s. Probably a full decade later than correct for the OP's car.
  25. Nissan may still have them available. Part number 48522-21000 is superseded by 48522-W1401. Still shows like a good number from various online dealers.
