rocker stripes?
I like your solution, Arne! That will be worth a try at some future time. That trick is well-known in BMW circles. That's how you de-badge a BMW without damaging the paint. Now the Z community knows as well!

New from Oregon
There's no better place in Oregon to come to see old Zs, and to get inspired. If you make it, look me up.

VIN help
260Zs with the stock carbs and hood ran hot in the engine compartment, and had lots of vapor lock problems. There were several "fixes" regarding vents, insulation and such in attempt to reduce underhood temps. Now that I look closely, it is impossible to say whether the vents in your hood are stock '77-78 280Z parts added later, something else added by the dealer while the car was still fresh, or if the entire hood was replaced with a late 280Z hood at some later time. I'd need better pictures to be able to tell. It would be interesting to see underhood pics to know what carbs you have on the car now, too.

VIN help
The picture he attached in his intro thread (http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=320303) is larger. It shows an early 260Z (small bumpers) with a late 280Z hood and aftermarket front towel bar, aluminum rocker trim and side mirrors.

rocker stripes?
Back in the day the only color I recall seeing other than black and white was red. Not certain just what colors are available these days.

Collectors Alert - could be worth checking out
I merged the two threads, placed in the open discussion area instead of the ebay forum.

Motorsport Auto's 2010 West Coast Nationals
This is at least thread number 3 on this topic. I'm going to merge them all. We don't need this many threads cluttering the forums.

Looks like I'm getting my first z car =)
Search for "exhaust fumes" and you'll get pages of info.

15x8 Revolutions on Eugene CL
Same here, even though my car sits closer to stock height. I think you'd need considerably shorter profile tires. Maybe 205/50-15 or 215/45-15. They don't fit with the look I'm going for on my car, but I can see that they'd be damn cool on a Z.

Considering Konig or Rota RB
- Transmision Problems
Redline MTL (manual transmission lubricant). A synthetic that is a bit thinner than their MT-90 (which is what I use here in my mild climate). A cure for stiff shifting that's well known in many enthusiast circles.- Countdown to ZCON
We're all pulling for you, Steve. Everything you're doing looks great. Can't wait to see the finished product. P.S. - If I ever do another Z that needs floors, I think I'll want to bring it to you. Outstanding looking work!- Mylar logo'd sunshades - Completed
Yeah, I know what you mean. I almost decided to switch at the last minute and get a DATSUN for my car. But the 240-Z on mine looks great. If they were something you could change back and forth now and then I'd have both.- MikeW's Online Spreadsheet - Needs Fixing
The reality is that the rest is so messed up, it may as well be deleted.- Registration for Datsun Driving Canby Fun 2010 (Oregon) is now open.
Anyone else planning to register for the judged show?- N/A into a TURBO
Definitely dished pistons. The head would be a bit of a challenge, as you'd want a detonation-resistant chamber shape with square ports to match the turbo manifold. So the best choice for a turbo build would be... ...the turbo P90 head. Perhaps an E31 head would work too, but it has smaller valves and wouldn't be that much easier to find. Not speaking from any personal experience or anything like that. Just my own logic-derived thoughts, which could be flawed. FWIW...- MikeW's Online Spreadsheet - Needs Fixing
I've re-entered my data from scratch at the top, and highlighted the correct data in light green. Cleared the individual erroneous cells where I could find them (my VINs and engine #'s, mostly). We'll see how long it lasts...- My 260Z build (Brake upgrades and Mods)
Not bringing it to Canby this year, are you?- Hatch Hinge Seal Covers
As far as I know, there is no source for new hinge seals. The spare pair that I was hoarding for a while went to Zs-ondabrain for his 260Z project. Your best bet is to post a wanted ad in the classifieds and also watch for people parting early cars. In my experience, the seals from the '70-71 cars here in the NW seem to have held up better than on later cars. Must have been better rubber.- Registration for Datsun Driving Canby Fun 2010 (Oregon) is now open.
I was thinking along the same lines, but I'm not convinced that the judged area is all that much better. Still might not want to leave the car unattended. Still deciding.- Mylar logo'd sunshades - Completed

Excellent! Looks like a solid start. Kudos to motorman7 for helping out!- Rear hatch hinges
Hinges were painted, but the two big screws that hold the hatch to the hinges were not. - Transmision Problems
