Dyna Lite wheels
They are one of several small volume Japanese multi-piece wheels that were offered here shortly after the first Enkei wheels hit the US market. Many were imported and sold by established American wheel makers who were blindsided by the impact of the Enkei wheels. IIRC, DynaLite may have been imported and sold by Appliance. Their 14" offerings were two-piece welded (not bolted), but the 15" were bolt-up wheels as pictured. As a guess, you should be able to remove the center of the wheel, but the two rim halves are likely welded together down the middle. Oh yeah, early to mid-80s, not 70s.

Vto/Bre Lemans Wheels 16x7?
I'd ask VTO them selves, not just a dealer like Dave. http://64.27.130.204/?page_id=22

VTO Le Mans Wheel.. anybody try these yet?
I think they'd look great on your car, Terje. In fact, if I had not sold my car to you, I might have bought a set of these by now.

Transmission problem?
Jerry, I doubt the box needs another "rebuild". As noted above, there are several things here that might only need to have it opened and a small correction made. I suspect the solution will be fairly simple once it is out and the case is cracked open.

Transmission problem?
Jerry, a speed-related rotational clunking noise only in reverse almost has to be related to the reverse gears themselves. Any other source should have a matching noise going forward. As I sit here envisioning the parts that move only in reverse, I can't think of any other source. I fear the transmission needs to be torn back down.

Replace or Keep Original Spare
The wider 195/70 will not allow the cover to lay flat in a 240Z, as you fear. The 185/75 might - it will be very close. The Vredstein is an OK tire, especially for use solely as a spare.

SK tripples
Look like OER's to me. Note the Type "OER 40". http://www.zccjdm.com/catalog.php/azcarbum/dt84283/pd1938012/A_OER__SK__RACE_CARBURETORS

Thread purge policy for Ebay Discussions forum
In an effort to keep the site clean and make searches more useful and successful, threads older than 4 months in this forum (Ebay Disucssions) will be deleted if there is no useable information in them. In other words, if the only data is a now-dead eBay link, no pictures, or description of price discussion to save for posterity, the thread will be purged. Pictures alone aren't enough to keep a thread around, there will need to be some substance, detail, pricing, etc. This should keep useless threads from polluting your search results.

original 1970 240Z rim
Correct. At least for the North American market, there were no other factory installed choices. Anything else was dealer-installed.

Video: Jay Leno visits Japan and drives a Fairlady 240Z-G!
Must be a recent addition, I visited in April 2011, surely would have noticed that since I was still a Z owner at the time.

debating on side mirrors
I prefer the Talbots, the UK mirrors remind me of the mirrors on a late MGB.

vintage Z key blanks
$40 bucks is a pretty good price, as I recall. When I bought mine in 2010 they were closer to $60 each. I don't know of anyplace to find them cheaper.

I do not understand car shows...
Drive more, show less. That's how I look at this these days. I don't own my cars to impress other people, they are intended to impress me. They do that by providing driving pleasure. End of story. I'd rather go on a 300 mile backroad cruise than attend a car show.

Figuring Tire UTQG
The UTQC is the whole suite of ratings. I believe the one the new rules are referring to is the Tread wear rating. The idea is to not allow the use of DOT-R tires (which frequently have ratings of 50 or so).

The stuff I've seen in person from Norm has all been top-notch, Jerry.

5 speed knob reproduction?
Actually, I believe the entire disk was molded in clear, with the letters and pattern in relief. The characters, rings and pattern are hand painted white and buffed off as noted, and then the entire underside is painted black. Simple and with a minimum of separate steps.

5 speed knob reproduction?
In your opinion, perhaps. I most certainly do not agree. Too modern, not "Classic" at all.But that is just my opinion, and others are free to do as they wish.

Alternator Mounting Holes Larger Than Necessary
Some of the later alternators had these larger holes. I saw this on the ZX alternator that came in my yellow 240Z. While you can use it as is in a pinch, ideally you'll want some sleeves of some sort in the holes to locate things better. In this case, any sleeve you use should be slightly shorter than the thickness of the mounting ear.

C.A.R.B. OE number for headers '76 280z
Nissan didn't use tube "headers" on these cars, they all came with cast iron manifolds.

Datsun lovers, this gem/time capsule is a must see
If that's what you would be willing to pay, that's what it is worth to you. Obviously, there are others who feel it is worth far more to them. I'd pay considerably more than $5k for it, but it has already passed beyond my personal valuation as well.

Nice Norcal 240Z on CL
That is all the money for that car, and he isn't going to get it with that ad. Going to need a whole lot more detail and photos to get to even half that.

bought a 71 datsun 240z and i dont know anything about carbs
Late 260Z in the US still had flat tops. Not FI. That was actually the probable reason for the late 260Z - the fuel injected L28 wasn't ready yet, so the late 260Z was the rest of the 280Z package but still using the carbed L26.
