Buying used Weber DGVs
very helpful, thanks =) I'll have to take a closer look today and see what I can figure out. Edit: Looks like 32/36 DGV 5A http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/inc/pdetail?v=1&pid=76 Anyone feel free to confirm/deny =) Thanks Enigma and Arne! Sorry to hijack the thread, I'll post more questions in a new thread.

Buying used Weber DGVs
I have been having the damndest time just identifying the carbs on my car (there is a pretty good shot of them in my gallery). I am in the process of trying to decide whether to rip them out or rebuild/retune them (I have no experience with this, but am willing to buy all the books and learn). I have a pretty good sense at this point what an SU setup will cost me, but I have no idea what a rebuild kit for the webers will set me back as I really don't know what model they are. Is there a good way to determine this before I go out and buy the books? Thanks!

Looking for a parts car in the southeast...
I have been watching e-bay and other classified sites, but I figured I would post here too. I'm looking for a half-decent parts car I can get to from Orlando, FL within a half-day's drive or so. Ideally, I'd like a '72. It doesn't necessarily need to run and I'm not too concerned with the body. My primary goals are to get operable carbs and an AC (aftermarket or otherwise -- I'm not positive if they even came stock that early). I have a '73 so I would consider any year with a reasonable amount of sharable parts, I'd even consider a FI model if all else seemed worth it. If anyone has one or knows of someone who does, the closer to Orlando the better, lemme know =) Thanks! -m

New Z diagnosis...
For the record, I started this to I think =) I really should stop osting before my coffee... I was runing a search on fuel injectors or something, came across this post and decided to reply since I used to own a '78... then I saw the date and deleted the body of the post, sadly could not delete the post itself. Guilty! Flame away...

Embarrassing... Oil Change Question...
Thanks =) I did the oil change earlier today (after my last post) and all went great. I appreciate the advice on the filter and whatnot (done plenty of oil changes, just been almost a decade since my last Z and I have no documentation for the car at current). Thanks for helping me out before I did something foolish (six quarts...)! -m

Embarrassing... Oil Change Question...
This is my first oil change since getting the car (took it to a Z Shop for the first one) and my Haynes manual is still on order.. and it's been a long time since I changed the oil on my '78 back in High School... I'm heading to the store on the way home from work and, ummm... (sigh) How much oil? 6 quarts?

Loud Vibrating sound in rear! What's the deal?
This may sound dumb, but I had a similar problem recently (if I follow your description accurately), and after some head-scratching, turned out that the exhaust was just ever so slightly too close to the body and would make some noise at lower RPMs (idling, cruising, though not generally accelerating).

Thinking of selling my Z... advice?
I appreciate the support on the price. The only thing that pushed me over the edge to sell it was getting full value for it -- I am not trying to "get rid of it" so getting much less than what I am asking... well, I'd rather keep it =) When the worst case scenario is a beutiful car, life could be worse! Besides, anyone who is willing to pay what it's worth will apprciate it and take care of it, and that makes the hurt less And no, I haven't posted it to e-bay just yet. I figure I would go the free route with some enthusiast sites, take it to the local z-club meet (next week I think) and see if I get a nibble before going to e-bay. I am prepared for it to take some time to find the right buyer, and I'm not positive a 10 day e-bay auction will get me what I want (for those of you that watch the e-bay auctions, do the cars that list that high tend to sell?). I will be back... oh yes, I will be back
