once you know bore size and desired compression ratio you want I.E. head volume and piston setup domed, flat or dished.once that's done, Its all about how much air and fuel you can cram in there. Cam and air fuel delivery ect.. If your talking about the flat tops then yes ditch em. Use a p90 or N42 it really doesn't make a huge difference. Hell a ported E88 would do it. But you eventually come to Carb Vs. F.I. I prefer carbs "less wiring and hassle" however each has it's perks and draw backs. throttle response and fuel economy and so on. I personally would run some flat tops with a N42 block decked and head shaved and shimmed and ported topped with a cam with a long duration. Should be good enough... I think

hey thanks for the info the fuel pump was bad when i took it apart the brushes were so worn they were almost non existant so we replaced i made a little progress im now getting fuel to the filter but not to the rail i get spark at the plugs. under the passenger seat there is a plug that goes to a little gold colored box then to nothing but then there is another plug that goes to nothing at all its just sitting down there. the new fuel pump runs when we try to start the car but doesnt if the ignition is just left on??? i was told today to check the vacume system so thats what im going to do. Do u know where the most likely place is for a leak i dont know where to start?

alright im not alone i am also in the middle of a restoration of my early 260 and ive come across this same problem you can order the rubber inserts from motorsport but watch the pocket book they are incredibly expensive given that they are made of rubber you may not be able to find them on there website but if you order there catalog they have every little thing you could ever want happy hunting

  9. hey guys im in a bit of a pinch i just recently warped the head on my 260 and in need of an answer i currently have an n42 head on that now needs to be shaved or should i just rebuilt the original e88 im looking for performance and dependability ive heard alot about the n42 heads and that the compression ratio is changed when put on i guess what im after. is it worth shaving the head and putting it back on or should i just use the e88?? :paranoid:
