Hal, Just read your about your future plans for a shed, maybe a couple of more suggestions. An aircon is a must, it not only keeps you cool but in winter it stops the condesation in a metal roof building. If you can install a couple of sturdy columns mid-way down the shed and on top of these install a 150mm UB (universal beam) to span across the shed.(Available from Midiala Steel, they deliver) Attach to this a beam trolley to hang your chain block. (Available from Sling rig) This combination will give you travel across the whole width of the shed. If you intend to have a compressor stick it outside and run the power and air lines thru the walls, it'll leave the noise outside and free up valuable space. I had an old dog kennel over mine to keep the weather off! Another suggestion, get a electrican to install a seperate breaker box near the door so you don't trip the power to the whole house as well. That can really upset the wife while she's watching her favourite soap. Also, learn from the experts and get a wheeled tool trolley with the tool box on top and a mid and lower tray when working under a car, nothing worst than searching for tools when lying on your back. You can stick insulation rubber down the legs to protect your Duco. But most important, a chillout chair and a radio, both let you sit back and mellow out and keeps the wife from hearing all the swearing when things go wrong. And if exspenses allow, the previous suggestion of Gyprocking the shed not only helps with keeping the dust down, but also adds value to the shed. (if sold later the shed can be used as a rumpus room) Hope these help!

Hi, Chris is the name, I just bought my second 280ZX home yesterday. The first one died a horrible death in the hands of a very EX-girlfriend. This will be my weekend ride until I get a bugs out of her, It's got a terrible whine in the diff that doesn't go awat until you turn the radio up. It's stock straight up standard, and in pretty good condition for a 26 year old car. It's been resprayed recently, a new roof liner installed, and a new recond motor put in 8 months ago! I'm the 3rd owner according to the log books, which have every cent spent on her recorded. I will be looking at replacing the wheels and tyres soon to improve the ride and handling, it's got the equilivant of bicycle tyres on it now! Cheers.

  5. There's an old trick my dad taught me, put an old wheel back on, don't use your new bright an' shiny mags, and as you rotate the wheel hit the inside with a huge rubber mallet (hammer). If you've twisted the half shaft through excess driving torque the spline that fits into the "crown" wheel of the diff will be jammed. Just keep at it. If that fails, try some wooden wedges between the two parts and drive them in slowly, between the hub and the housing. good luck

Can anyone tell me what alternative brands of injectors can be used in '79 280Z. I was quoted $2000.00 from a dealer in Sydney (Gold plated maybe?). Fuel injector service companies here in Perth tell me that there are no guarantee's with the old injectors coz they are a combination of metal and plastic. To service them costs about $38.00 each (plus tax) seals are extra. But I've problems with injectors in a 280ZX leaking and almost flooding the engine bay with spraying petrol, and this sways me away from getting the old one's cleaned. Can anyone help, brand names etc.
  7. Guy's consider yourself lucky, I'm the lucky owner of a pristine 1979 280Z, after owning a 280ZX for a couple of years. (The very EX-girlfriend fried the motor) To get the injectors serviced here in Perth Western Australia I was quoted up to $2,000.00 AUD for a set of original injectors for a 280ZX, ( with no guarantee that they will have them in stock)maybe the mechanic scraps off the gold before installing them, so I'm exploring all angles for new ones for the 280Z. I've been quoted $38.00 per injector to clean them, plus tax, $250 total. But I remember a mechanic telling me once that all they do is drop them in a ultra-sound bath and replace the seals. Can any-one suggest after market injectors, so that I won't have to sell my first born to get them?
