  1. Chuck, Yeah, you're killing me. You have quite a collection. We are able to tune our race cars pretty good. I mean the butterfly is very rarely not slammed wide open, so it's not that hard to get right I suppose. Cheers, Greg
  2. Guys, I guess I should have clarified the reason for my post. I bought some 2" SU's from this company (SUCarbs.com) about 8 weeks ago and have not seen them yet. His responses to my inquiries are short and kryptic to say the least. I am worried that I won't get what I paid for. I know of Joe Curto. He certainly knows his SU's. Thanks, Greg
  3. Hey Classic Z, I am wondering if anyone has dealt with this company before. Please let me know if you have. Thank you, Greg Ira

Here you go. Sorry for the late post. SpeedcastTV Greg
  6. Dreco, What is considered North Dallas? I had two other guys respond on another web site, one in Denton, one in McKinney. That might be a little bit far for me. Greg
  7. Hey Z folks, I'll be in Dallas next week. Anybody want to get together for some Z talk? I saw some cool stuff on my last trip. It's got to be better than sitting around in the hotel after work hours. Lemme know, Greg Ira 2013 SCCA National Champion Revtec Driver Development
  8. Guys, I had an awesome time after hours on my business trip. I will continue with this type of post just because I find it very interesting. Special thanks to Matt Isbell and Roger280zx. I toured Matt's shop and was blown away. You guys have to see it. Thanks again Matt and Roger! Greg
  9. Well, mostly North. Dunwoody is where my hotel is.. Greg

Phillip, Yes, the aggression is all about perspective. You'll see different comments from different people based on who posted the clip. All the top drivers use similar moves in traffic. Look at Jesse Prathers in car of the start. It's incredible and one Mazda guy posted a comment on his video that I hit Matt Reynolds twice at the start. I commented back as to exactly what happened and the guy has since taken his post down. Anyway, Aaron is a good aggressive driver. His car suffers from handling issues just like we do. Well, compared to the Miata. Greg
  11. By the way. I have been going to this race for over 30 years. WE have it wired, to say the least. Anyone that wants to hang out at our RV next year, come on! WE have the first motorhome spot at the exit of Turn 3. It's an awesome spot and we get lots of racers and fans over at our camp. We always have a big fire and lots of food. Regards, Greg Ira 2013 SCCA National Champion
  12. Z Folks, I will be in Atlanta next week on business, 2/25-2/26. I will be there Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. I travel quite a bit on business and haven't met very many Z guys outside my area. Would love to have a beer and talk about cars. Let me know if you're up for it. Greg Ira 2013 SCCA National Champion

Black Gold Man, I have some footage but haven't put it up yet. Check this one out for some good action. Greg
  15. As usual, you guys are right on target. We did run the 2.6, as we felt that exploiting the advantage of the car (Torque) was a good way to go. We had gone close the previous lap record at VIR earlier in the year with this combination. If you don't keep trying stuff like this each year, you're dead, especially competing against Mazda and their drivers on the SCCA competition board. It's a miracle that we won the SCCA national championship. This car deserves it more than any of us. The Mazda forums were burning up with negative talk about "old guys" in "old cars" with "ungodly straight away" speed. Well, the fact of the matter is Reynolds was faster than me on the front straight by 1 mph, and I was faster than him on the back straight by 1 mph. OK, great now the cornering and braking speeds have to be considered. ( 2 seconds worth is his favor ) This is what I've been battling against for 3 or 4 years with John Brakke, essentially the same car. He was experienced enough to not show the potential of the car when it counted. Since the kid made a mistake in the oil on lap 2, he was not afforded the chance to sand bag. Plus, he had another freakin Miata that was just as fast chasing him around. As for the big bumper. That cost us a lot of money to get that from MSA. The idea is to cover up the front grill as much as is allowed. The late 260Z had the 280Z bumber. Thanks Carl Beck for the research! Anyway, I love to develop these cars. If anyone wants my help at the track, email or call me. Greg Ira

Carl, you are exactly right! The threat of Mazda's pull was looming over us the whole time. In fact, do you know what Matt Reynolds stood to lose for that Bump and Run? He lost Chicago Region's Triple Crown, SCCA's Super Sweep, AND Mazda invitation to drive their cars for the next year, supposedly worth about 50k. See why we were nervous?

Fellow Z car lovers, I apologize for being so absent. I have had a one tracked mind for the past 6 months dealing with the race and my new job. You guys are car enthusiasts, therefor most of your comments are right on track. We won the race because you can cheat. We deserved the win simply because you can't bump people out of the way to gain position. It isn't NASCAR and it isn't Spec Miata. This is Production car racing where the cars are fragile and engineered to within and inch of their life. It's not a "bolt on" fest. I have so many emotions about this race. My team has been through many protests. Unfortunately when some people put on a helmet, it is a different person altogether. FYI, we are five for five in our litigation over the years. Many thanks to my crew chief Guy Marvin IV. He's just a natural negotiator. You know the type. So, we won after the fact. We waited a long time, years in fact. The process was very organized and quite impressive regarding the fact that there were several different opinions and they have to rule on the spot pretty much. It was good that we really didn't even have to form a protest from my team. Matt Reynolds had knocked the **** out of several people during that race. He's fast but inexperienced, that's it, plain and simple. He will be a champion and a Pro. John Morton, what a cool guy. He's a down to Earth racer. I would catch him wondering off and watching racing all over the track. He just loves racing, just like Me! He is all there, great sense of humor, still a young man if you ask me. His car was well prepared and he did a better job in that car than about 99% of any humans alive could do. He had very, very little seat time in that car as we go hosed at Road American by the crappy weather. That's partially why Aaron Downey's car sucked and why my car had crap for brakes. Tenth place in that field is damn good! Jim in Calgary- Thanks for the kind words. You know, when I watched it on TV, I though the exact same thing. I really wanted to beat that kids arse. BUT, I knew from experience we had a good shot of getting Justice. Cheers everyone, Greg Ira National Champion Anyway, I have lots of cool stories throughout the week up there if anyone is interested. I am milking it for all it's worth!!
  21. Have you guys seen this one. I can't believe it turns that many revs.
  22. PS. Pete Brock has seen it and loves it.
  23. Thanks for the good words. I like to make every bar count in my rollcages. We don't need "birdcage" Z cars. I use 1.5" tube in most of mine because it really does take up less room, even though it seems small. A few of the most important things I consider. Main hoop scallop and plate into rocker panel. Horizontal bar behind driver with no bends. Nascar bars at driver door with no S bends. Forward down hoop tie in to footwell/firewall junction. This is also in the location of the frame rail. Knee bar not placed too low. These cages have proven to be very stiff. A lot of these little things are hard to do when you actually get down to it and if you've done one you know what I mean. Feel free to call me with any questions. Steve, that box at your main roll hoop bottom is pretty nice looking. I bet that took some time... Greg
  24. This is one of my personal favorites. First. because I created it by accident and second, because I won! When I first watched it i was amazed at how close to an F1 car it sounds. Don't turn up the speakers if you're in public. Greg
  25. Hi Newton, I just tried clicking the link at the top of this page and it worked. Try it again and let me know. Thanks, Greg
