Boycots
Please don't forget that so many global acting companies are american. What do you think if the French and the other +150 countries, that didn't support the "war", would start to boycot those. I think in a globalized business-world any boycot in the end hurts those who started the boycot. What I really fear is the expectable arrogance of those self-appointed "cops of the world"-politicians and their opportunistic supporters, that do not allow different oppinions. I'm very happy that in this internet-club so many different arguments are accepted. Let's stand together that way. It seems, our Zs are a strong basis. Rolf

Valve Covers (2)
I like that 710 joke. Was it Hamtong's Snowy , that female Alpha dog, that turned the cap? Rolf

With BRE or without?
Thanks Alfadog, you explained it with a good feeling for the design and lines. Perhaps Mike makes this a poll 'cause the general question is "how much stock"

Minilite wheels
Hi Tanny, didn't see a Z in Durango when I had been there twice. When I will be there one day again - it's one of my favorite places in the West, esp. the bar at slater's hotel and the train to Silverton - I will send you a mail. Hope you will find a solution for your Minilites soon. Did you check their quality? Magnesium may become problematic and as I know some roads around Durango are challenging. Rolf

Is it lifestyle
Here in Germany we never had the chance to buy any 2-seater Z or ZX, exept inthe very first year of the 240 Z. They sold only 40-50 here and most of them are gone rusty. Datsun/Nissan than only offered the 2+2s. This was not even in the interest of the shops, esp. not concerning the Z31 and Z32. The Z 32 was not even as na available. I would have chosen a na Z32 2-seater. Let's see what they do to the 350 Z here. Rolf

my "supered" Sun 1/18 Z
Thanks for the compliments! The rims and the mirror are from a Bburago Jaguar E-Type, the tyres are custom made. I used a stripe of rubber that's ends I glued together with an "elastic" fast bending (seconds only) liquid glue. Rolf

Rally anyone?
Edgar Herrmann and Hans Schuller were successful Safari Rallye competitors and two times winners in a Z . I just got the information that also Hans Schuller is already dead. I was looking out for him for an interview, sorry, I'm too late. God bless him. Rolf

Your Cars' Name?
Looking at your mails, 2 things are interesting: a) Many names are related to music and some see cars as female, others as male. Is this depending on the language? In the english speaking world you seem to prefer cars as female, here in Germany and surrounding countries we prefer to see a car male if it's powerful. Only "Chicky Micky" cars like some little italian designer spyders (convertibles) are female. Rolf

Your Cars' Name?
Hi all, my Z31 Turbo is called "SUMO" 'cause it is so powerful and looks like one of those fat fighters, my wife's 280ZX is "Grandpa", my 240 Z is "ElviZ" - a tribute to the greatest rock'n'roller of the late 60s, early 70s (that was Z time) - and my other 240Z is "Angie" 'cause A) it came from LA and because of one of my favorite songs, "Angie" from the Rolling Stones . You all found nice names for your ladies. Guus, that was a lovely dog Rolf

Why Toyota Four Runner Brakes?
Hi, interesting thread. Victoria British offers drilled discs. I sakwed them for more info but didn't get an answer. Does anyone know whether these are vented or do they have exactly the diameter and thickness of the stock brake discd? Does anyone of you use these dics and what is the experance? I also think about that swap, but I fear that the 4 caliper brake produces more heat and, by that, earlier fading. That's why I ask for the drilled discs. Rolf

What are you paying for gas?
Hi all, last Friday I payed here in Germany 1,239 $ for 1 litre ROZ '98. Most of that is tax, similar to the situation HS -30H descibed. Because of so called ecological reasons the government hurts the car drivers, but at the same time prices for public transportation increase all the time, too. We are the milk cows of the nation for every rubbish! Rolf

240Z Champion Car
Good to know, 2manyZ ! This is an important information and makes the relatively low offers understandable. I would like to give you a little bit more background info, if I only had your e-mail adress. I could give you mine here, but I already get so much rubbish (Singles, pills, heath advice, mortgages, interest rates ...) that I prefer not to publish it. It's a pitty, but that are the smaller evils of our linked world Rolf

240Z Champion Car
Thanks 2manyZ, I followed your advice and got in touch with the seller. Would be nice to have a Z with that fine history in Europe. In the end it's depending on the price incl. transportation from the West Coast to Europe, insurances, customs and tax, that we have to pay. Rolf God bless the troops

240Z Champion Car
Hi all, does anyone of you know what happened to the SCCA ITS 240Z that was on ebay until Febr. 17th? How can I reach the former or new owner? Thanks for your help Rolf

Window Adjustments
DakotaZ, do you still have that little black rubber roller on the inner left(outside) front ? This is often broken and than you have a problem to lift the window properly into the chrome frame. Rolf

Where to get a cam from?
2manyz, you are encouraging me. May be I'm a bit too sensitive at the moment because of politics and sometimes may be different estimations of the situation and different mentalities. I always had good contacts to MSA - and there to Joseph C. - that I asked myself what might have happened. I will send him a fax, okay? By the way, as far as I remember the MSA cams are Schneider. Rolf

Where to get a cam from?
The MSA advice is good, but to me it seems that they don't want to deliver to Germany any longer. For years I got a lot of parts for my 4 Zs from MSA and I already made a BIG order in Jan. and Febr. but I did not even get an answer on my e-mails whether they got my orders or not. I don't understand that, is it because of the german politics on Iraque war? Sorry, now I have to look for other sources. Has anyone made similar experiances ? Rolf

Where to get a cam from?
Would you be so nice to add the web adresses of Comp, Schneider, Crane and more suppliers ? Thanks ! Rolf

Front coil springs
Tanny, that's a very elegant paraphrase. The problem is not the diameter, the problem is the weight - what do you think about "floatingly challenged"? Would that be correct in your language? Rolf
-
Front coil springs
Alan, that's really strange to me. Some days ago I installed new shocks at the front, so I took the coils off. I never had the idea that the coils might be different. Maybe the right is now on the left. Up to now I didn't realize a difference in driving. I once saw a Z hangig lower on the right side. I thought that was because of a fat person normally sitting on the passenger's side. Could that be because of "mixed" coils? Rolf

GFK parts
No producers in the US ? Thank you Alan for the info on Japan. Rolf

Front coil springs
This might be of interest to Alan (HS 30-H), too, esp. if it would be linked to the driver's position. Rolf
