Shif
I installed the MSA Short Shifter and it works fine but I wonder why the shifter knob is that heavy. It seems that the knob is an original Nissan part 32865-35F00. Can you tell me what the advantage of a relativly heavyweight knob is compared to a light one ?

Speedometer driven gear
Thank you all ! My Z is a late '71, so I think it's already the '72 version. It had originally the 4 gear tranny and a 3.54 diff. I now have installed a 5 speed tranny from - as I think - a 260 Z from the scrapyard, combined to a 4.11 diff. With your help I now think I need the red cog - but how to get one ? Do you know a source or do you even have one for me ?

Speedometer driven gear
Sorry, the search button didn't help me. A former US soldier who served in Germany brought his Z to a german scrapyard some times ago. I do not even know whether it was a 240 or a 260 as the car is in pieces now. I got a 5 speed tranny that I installed today and it works fine. As the speedo-adapter (or do you call it Assi Sleeve Speedometer ?) was not there I took the one from my original 4 speed tranny but the speedo cable doesn't turn. I think the gears do not even touch each other. I looked at my microfiche and found positions 76 -83 but none of the listed parts numbers are available at Nissan here in Germany. Any help is appreciated. Rolf

Drum brake info and fluid question
DOT 4 works fine! Don't you think about an improvement of your front brakes, they have to do most of the braking work.

What worst car have you bought ever?
A VW/Porsche 914 1,6 l. When braking , esp. on a wet road, but also in dry, for a curve you never knew whether it will under- or oversteer. You had to make a "test braking" first and if you needed support by downshifting from 4th to 3rd gear it could happen that you ended in 5th. And by the way, the maintenace was so expensive. The built in relatvely cheap VW parts for Porsche prices. Rolf

A little Eibaching help please...
As far as I remember the progressiv Eibachs are not only different front and rear, you also have to look where the bigger distances between the threads have to be up and where down. My rear Eibachs after a jump crashed into the dome 'cause I had them upside down. Big damage! Unfortunately I cant't remember. Please ask Eibach! Rolf

My 260Z build (Exhaust mods and such)
Why don't you go parallel straight through under the tank, like the works rallye cars or the BRE 240 Z showed it ?

My yellow '72 Z in front of Cologne Cathedral
The 2 towers of Cologne's Cathedral are so high that not even my quite wide camera's angle could catch them. My Z is here waiting for the start to the 350 km Classic event that we finished 1st over all

Kind of a issue with my return fuel line
I have a similar problem with my weber carbs. When accelerating hard up hill the engine starts to tumble (like a lack of fuel) at 5000+ rpm. It doesn't happen on a flat road or downhill. Maybe the electric fuel pump (Futjisubo 3,5 psi) is too week on the one hand and/or the loss because of the return line on the other hand is too much. At first I will do like you and close the return line. Who can give advice because he had the same problem? Rolf

Popping out of gear fixed
Thank you SledZ for the pic 1 as my shifter is "sloppy" and your pic shows the black ring that I think is broken in my tranny. There was an article in zhome on that and how to change to a brass ring. Now I have a better imagination . Rolf

Disappointing BAX/Schenker
MSA sent 4 new rims from Orange/CA to me here in Germany by BAX Global/Schenker in 2 parcels on April 2nd. Together with the driver who brought the parcels on April 16th I looked into the one that included some smaller parts and we looked at the second one, that was strongly taped around the top. It seemed to be okay to us. I ordered 4 new tyres and brought the parcel to my tyre shop. On April 29th the shop got the tyres and opened the boxes. In box 2 the upper rim was damaged. The parcel must have fallen on one of the top corners and was damaged there at the inside, not to see from the outside because of the tape. Immediately I informed Schenker Germany as well as MSA. Schenker Germany doesn't feel responsible as there was no contract between me and BAX. So it was up to MSA to get in contact with BAX. Aaron from MSA did that but BAX didn't feel responsable any more as the time for reclamations would be passed already. BAX did not even ask for the date of delivery what is in my understanding impertinent as Schenker Germany asured me that they did not yet report the delivery date to Bax. Also there is no rule for a private person to open a parcel and to look at the content immediately. MSA felt sorry for the problem, was very, very fair and we made a good agreement for a new rim - but BAX did not even agree to a fair arrangement for the shippment which was $ 306 for the 4 rims at the first delivery, not to mention the customs and taxes that I have to pay now additionally. BAX keeps pigheaded! My recommendation: ??? . Does anyone have made a similar experiance? Rolf
