  2. Thanks Alan, good to know that clear position!
  3. BuDavid, in my gallery is a pic called Silvretta classic. There you can see the iron cross in black on my black ZX. Perhaps this gives you a better imagination. To silver I would prefer -as mentioned - gun metal, but it's all up to you, I don't want to act as a teacher. Rolf
  4. I had a similar experiance with my 3o00 ZX. The solution was the connection of the minus-cable to the battery. Sometimes a little push already helped.
  5. Here in Europe the ZX came initially with the Iron Cross, the "cross" was alu or sometimes black inside. the later ZX (1982) had the alu six spoke and than we got the Turbo rims. The rim that sBlake01 has in his avatar was sold here with the 240Z - 260Z, not with the ZX. For your silver car I personally would prefer the Iron Cross with a gun-metal (dark silver) inside the cross. The difference between the car's color and the rims is not that "hard" as with a black cross but it has a fine contrast to the silver of the car and the rim's alu ring. The same I would do with the 6 spoke. Rolf
  6. Sorry, I read somewhere that the L-6 Cylinder engine was under a licence that Prince got from Mercedes-Benz. The engines really look very similar. What's the truth about that story? I'm shure you know it, Alan! Rolf
  7. Did the first generation Z have a rear window defroster? I don't think so, right? If not, it is "aftermarket". So fix a long wire to the defroster's rear cable end, put a bulp and a small batterie from a torch at the other end of that wire at +.Now fix a second wire to the - of that little battery and touch the different free cables that come from the rear. May be - if "aftermarket" - the cable is not in the harness. When the bulp lights than you've found the defroster's cable ( hopefully not the - one). Look out where the rear defroster has it's ground (-). Put a fuse in between the + cable and connect that to the switch, than go directly from the switch to the car's battery and leave the main fuse box out by using that new circuit. Rolf

Alfadogs thumbnail doesn't show a louver. The car has a rear engine and air cooling like every "Beetle". By the way, a louver can't stink, maybe the rear engine. Rolf

Louvers are the better protection against heat 'cause the glass alredy is in the shade. The tinting helps against UV, but after some time in the sun the car nevertheless gets hot inside As far as I remember the first car that had the louvers OEM was the Lamborghini Miura in 1966. Rolf

Be careful when polishing the SU-tops, they are heat sensitive. I made that experiance when I polished mine to a chrome-similar look. When I fitted them they were inside no longer totally round and I had a lot of problems afterwards to make all fit fine. Rolf

Hi all,I have a yellow and a red Z, I also have a black/silver 280ZX and a sand-metallic (Gold?) 300 ZX. I can fully agree to that safety argumentation, often people excuse when they cut my lane not having seen the sand-metallic car clearly. The black-silver one has problems in the dark, the safest color is yellow (see my gallery). My personal dream-color would be that metallic blue-green-grey mixture that Porsche once had, calle "Petrol". Rolf

You can find the color mix at zhome.com Rolf

Thanks Rip260Z (Ian) you are right, I write about the braided hoses. At first I argued like you but than I saw that by turning the steering the distance between the fixing points becomes wider or very narrow and the wheels also have to move up and down at the same time when driving. That made me sceptic, so I asked my question. Rolf

Hi all, I got a set of steel brakelines together with the '72 Z when I bought her. One pair is about an inch longer than the other pair and even the shorter pair is longer than the original brakelines. Which one is for the front ? Rolf

'cause I hate pulling the dash I also installed the 2 piece 280ZX solution. As the car is still under restauration I have no experiance how this setup will work, I only see some problems that the total cable length is much more. Now I'm a bit worried and so I'm also interested in the contribution of experianced Z owners. Thanks in advance. Rolf
  19. Jaust talking about contributions we miss, I haven't read posts from our friend 2manyZ since a long time. I hope he's fine. Rolf
  20. I used urethan for the tension rod. I'm not shure if that's the reason but I have a little twist in the frame now, the "pocket" turned slightly upways. I will go for rubber in combination with the performance TC rod kit, but at first I loosened the nuts. Similar experiances? Rolf
  21. We will miss Bambikiller and his contributions. R.i.p.

Friends, I'm positively astonished about the echo this issue has. I've always been glad that there was a magazine on Z cars and I can understand the problems a magazine has in such a small market. I'm also shure there were much more readers than buyers, that's usual and okay but not that good for the magazinemakers. I press my thumbs for a successful new start and I'm shure that the Zs will take a big part 'cause the Z enthusiast are the core subscribers. What's about official NISSAN (US and international)? The new magazine should have their support, too. Here in Germany NISSAN has no interests in elder Nissans or Datsuns (most Nissan officials do not even know Datsun and the Nissan history), so I'm personally not interested in Nissan, but I will support the new magazine when and here wanted. This Z-voice must survive, as classiczcars.com, too Rolf.

Friends, sportzmagazine was great although Infinity didn't interest me personally. I wish Nissan Sport a long and successful future and hope there will still be enough Z stuff - whatever Z/ZX it concerns. To be honest, to me Nissan is a brand without a face - no image, no personality (exept the Z-line). One of the things I'm not interested in is bread and butter Nissan. Rolf
