My Datsun 240Z
Could be a bump on the tire(s) itself or another issue with the tire itself, rather than the wheels. Doug

280Z Full Restore in 5 months, hopefully.
Keep in mind that new springs will always sit high in the rear until they settle in. It can take several months for that to happen. Personally, I would wait until then before I decided to take any drastic action to lower the rear as you may negatively impact handling. Doug

The Way Back Machine- 1972 240z - 113 Froggy Green
There is no such thing, as there is only one mirror, but it can be attached to either side. However, because of this, if you attach two to your car the arm will be at different angles and not look the same side-to side. Car is looking great by the way (although I'm not a fan of panasports ), bet you can't wait to fire it up!

Z cars are like women the particularly sexy and abusive kind(hello)
I think your car spit fuel in your brother's face because it is still pissed off that he neglected it for so long

Clock repair/restore
Agreed, Ron refurbished my clock 7 years ago and it still works great.

Has anyone seen this?
These tags were hung on the rear view mirror (IIRC for routing/shipping the cars) and removed (usually tossed in the trash) by the dealer. They are quite rare, so definitely keep it. There is at least one other thread on this site about the tag but not much more info. Doug

HELP: Need original lower front valance, grill
I've got spares of the front under valence (middle and two ends with blinker holes) from a 240Z in good shape if you need them.

You can get the American Racing Ansen Sprint wheels in 15", from most tire shops I run 195/65/R15's and the speedo is even accurate. Doug

are these OEM wheels?
Just FYI - the only factory wheel for a 240 is the steel wheel and hubcaps. Anything else is dealer add-on or aftermarket. Doug

73 in Museum Auction feb 14
Look nice overall, but they might want to put the front bumper over-riders on the right way up Also agree that it looks like the dash either has, or is about to have, 4 cracks in it. It was also recently (last year or two) registered here in GA, since it has the new-style license plate on it.

The Lime Green Machine Restoration Thread - 1972 240Z
Great thread, really enjoying watching your work. This car should be excellent when you get done! Doug

debating on side mirrors
Actually, I put late MGB mirrors on my Z, as I wanted a set that matched and looked period correct and they do look identical to the ones in the photo. They may indeed be the same since the MGB mirrors are made by Talbot. The PO of my car had some awful looking black plastic things on it that just had to go. I like the Talbots, and having a little more mirror to improve vision is indeed a good thing. I have attached a couple pics of the MGB mirrors on my Z. Doug

How Many Z Drivers Also Own BMWs?
I've got a 2010 E93 as my "regular" car. Prior to that had a Audi A4, and much prefer the BWM, feel much better, more solid, better planted, etc. Regarding my Z, even though I have a low mile example, I believe all cars are made to be driven, and never feel guilty driving it. In fact, you should see how dirty it is right now Even though I am pretty loyal to my cars (I have a hard time selling them), if it got hit, I would get it repaired, or get another if repair was not possible.

What wheels should I buy?
I personally don't like the all silver Konigs or Panasports on a yellow car. If you want either of them, I would recommend getting the gunmetal spokes. You could of course always go with the 15" A/E Sprint wheels like I have on my car, I am really happy with the look: First pic is after new springs, so sitting a little high which throws off the look a bit, second pic on the lift is after they have settled a bit Doug

[2012] What did you do to/with your S30 today?
Looks like you have room for a lift in there, so you could have your DD inside under the Z, provided it is not a big truck

A Car For A Museum or Leno?
Looking at the seller's website, they are asking $45K for the car, I think in the description they are trying to claim the original owner's total cost is/was $84K. http://www.howdenclassics.com/new/details.php?cid=63

Comparing Zs to Porsches?
I thought about picking up a 912 a few years back. I have space in my garage (with a lift), so I would not have had to sell my Z. In the end, after driving a few of them, I found that for a hardtop car, I preferred my Z, so in the end I decided to pass on Porsche ownership for now

A car outcast needs some input from car guys.
I'd go with some new chrome Dayton tubless wire wheels. It's great to be able to put standard tires on without needing tubes. They ride nice and smooth since they are factory trued before they seal the spokes. I have them on my MGB (which is painted a Healey green actually):

What Do You Think My Z is Worth?
I would think that if you got $3K to $5K you would be doing good. Also, FWIW, Chin is a Chinese/Korean surname, not really a Japanese one...

240z Gas Caps are Outrageous! Locking?
I have the same locking cap as OP! I also have the original cap but use the locking one as it seems to fit tighter so I don't get spills down the side of the car.

I have 195/65 R15 all around and they fit perfectly. Speedo is pretty accurate with these tires as well. Here are a couple photos:

What are the top 20 early Z-car modifications considered to be "molestation"?
Well, gtom, I was going to offer you my Z cheap, but since it has been "molested" with a non-factory color paint job, I guess you wouldn't want it... Guess I'll just keep it.
