  1. I just ordered a BRE Style Front Spoiler from Les at Classic Datsun. You can see what it looks like by going to his site http://classicdatsun.com/ and clicking on 240Z parts, then click the tab across the top that says "Fiberglass" and you can see photos of the front and rear spoilers as well as other various parts he sells.
  2. Excellent photography, the car really looks good! I wish my Lime Z looked that nice :classic:

Where in Okinawa were you? I was at MCAS Futenma 82-84 :-) I saw my first S30 there as well, and immediately wanted one!

Sorry to hear about your loss. Do you plan to rebuild your Z, or is it too far gone?
  5. How long did it take for your springs to settle in (time or mileage)?

My guess is that Chris is referring to the restoration program cars. My understanding is that actually 8 (21%) of these cars are owned by one individual, and I know for sure 7 (18%) are owned by another individual. Also, I was fortunate enough to see #17 before she left for Florida, as well as all the parts that are waiting to be installed, and I can say it will be an amazing and exellent example of a '69 car when it is completed! She is certainly getting the full treatment! :classic:
  7. John does excellent work and is highly recommended. Another excellent mechanic in the area that has been working on 240Z's for many, many yearsr option is Eddie Radatz, he is at 961 Shallowford Rd NE, 30144, phone 770.926.6609. I am confident you will be happy no matter which of these guys you pick. Give them a call and they can give you an idea on the cost.

Hmm, if it's not a pora-potty, maybe it's the TARDIS :classic: Sorry, I'll go back to sleep now...

I use them on my 3 classics, great customer service, no complaints here!

Chris, GT's usually go for less than a roadster, but $9500 sounds about right if the car is in really good condition. With 29300 original miles, it may pull a bit more, again based on its condition. A pristine roadster 67 roadster with that low original mileage would go for over $20K IMO :classic: You can also post over on http://www.mgexperience.net/ and http://britishcarforum.com/ to help sell the car or get some more opinions :classic:

I have the same problem on the '73. I also have an exhaust tip that is short and does not extend past (or up to) the rear bumper. One of these days I plan to get it extended, as I beleive that it is the culprit. I would love to know if you extend yours and it fixes the problem! :classic:

I would also recommend a book/magazines to read in the event something happens and you need to wait around for AAA to show up. Upgrading to AAA Plus (if you don't already have it) will get you 100 miles of towing, so you can get the car to a shop of your choice versus the closet place to where you get stuck. You may also want to bring something (plastic sheet) to put on the ground in the event you need to get under the car for any reason. Ductape is always useful, as well as some silicon sealant. A laptop with a wireless air card (cell phone card connection) could be very helpful if you get stuck somewhere and need to order parts, check the forum, etc. Of course, being this well prepared should mean a nice, uneventful (from a problem standpoint) trip!
  13. Arne, are you certain of the 8/72 date, as my '72 has a production date of 8/72, while my '73 has a 10/72 date? My '73 vin seems to be an early '73 one, and based on this I thought that the switch occured at the end of 09/72?

I'd be curious to see a bike mounted to that OEM luggage rack, as it does not appear to have any attachments to do so?

I have a Thule trunk mounted rack, that is similar to the design z-bane shows, and it works terrific on all my cars. It has the individual "holders" to carry up to two bikes (they make one similar for 3 or 4). I used it to carry two bikes just yesterday. I bought it and an REI store several years ago, but I believe this is the model: http://www.thuleracks.com/thule/product.asp?dept_id=8&sku=968 The two parts that brace on the car are adjustable, so they can fit everything from a van to a normal car trunk. This also allows you to adjust the carrying angle of the bikes as necessary. The 4 straps fit great on the top lip of the hatch and the bottom of the bumper on my Z's. The metal hooks on the ends of the upper straps have a rubber coating so you don't scratch the paint. If it stops raining here, I may go put it on to get a photo to illustrate the setup! :classic:
  16. Randy, Sorry, should have included a link for you before: http://www.atlantabritishmotorcarday.com/about.html I plan to be there with the MGB :classic: PM me if you decide to go, would be great to meet up.
  17. Stripes look good Randy! You've got to stick all your photos into your gallery so they will be there for posterity :classic: Don't forget to add some pics of your TR6 as well! You going to come down to Rome, GA with it for British Car Day on May 19th?
  18. Congrats on your new Z! You can get 5 slots in the orginal 14", or now in 15" or 17". MSA has the new 15" and 17" wheels, or you can get them from any shop that can get American Racing wheels. They are called AE/Sprint wheels on their website and in their catelog.
  19. Will be 43 the end of May, or, as I like to say, I'm going to be 29 for the 14th time :classic:

Robert, Welcome to the board! Since your in Atlanta like me, I would recommend you take your car to Eddie Radatz (e.radatz motorsports) and let him take off the extra stuff. There are some holes that need to be plugged as well. He has done this to both of my Z's when I had them in for other maintenance. His shop is at 961 Shallowford Road NE, Kennesaw, Georgia 30144, phone 770.926.6609. BTW, he works only on Z-cars, and has been working on them since they came out. :classic:
  22. Looks like maybe 110,000 or 210,000 miles on it as opposed to 10,000.
  23. Tennessee Orange is a lighter orange, the Z is more like Florida Gator orange, so just tell them it is "Gator Orange", and that should shut them up :classic: Go Gators!
  24. Car looks terrific, I bet your really loving it now! :classic:

Food for thought/discussion -- not meant as a slam on anyone!! I have read with interest where people have made the tough decision to sell their Z, and all of them state that they will get another one someday. However, in thinking about this, our 240Z's are currently over 30 years old, and will likely be over 40 years old when these folks try to replace the Z they sell today. How many good condition Z cars will be around 10 years from now? And for those left, how much will they cost? If I were thinking of selling my 240Z's, I would definitely factor in this information. For example, if today you can sell a good condition Z car for $10K, but in 10years it will cost $20K ~$25K to buy it back, is it really a good idea to sell it now if you really want to own a Z car in the future? Even if you sold it and invested the money wisely, would you even be able to cover the reacquisition cost of the car? Based on this, if you really want to own a Z car again in the future, would it be better to find a way to keep it, and perhaps suffer a bit in the short term, or sell it and hope the price of good condition Z cars doesn't appreciate like other classics? What is the smartest choice? Again, this is not meant as a slam/judgment on anyone or their life choices, but meant as food for thought/discussion. I certainly understand that sometimes life gets in the way, and people have to make tough choices they would rather not face.
