spitz17: 1970 Datsun Series I 240Z Project
Welcome and congrats on the Z! I see you also have an E92, I picked up a new E93 as my DD a month ago

Body progress
Can't see any pics as they are photobucket links. Just FYI, you can load the photos into your thread directly, and then they are part of the site (and everyone can see them!), so they don't get lost when you rearrange your photobucket albums.

24 months of intensive restoration, and I'm almost done.
Dang, I cannot see photobucket pics at work either Of course, the best way is to just upload them to the site here (it's free), then we can see them forever, and they won't go away when you re-arrange your photobucket albums and the links break.

Got into and accident... What to do :(
I would definately bump up the value Paul. I also have mine with a stated value of $25K, and might raise it to $30K in the future.

Resurrection
Great story, looking forward to seeing the finished result!

Tamiya 1/12th scale Z
Didn't realize there were so many model builders on the site :-) I've got about 600 or so kits in total, I've got this kit as well, and want to convert it to a standard 240Z configuration (so I can make a model of my car). If anyone finds a link to a conversion set, please let me know!

Beware of the IPO
In the British car world, they are usually referred to as DPO's Dumbarse (or another D-word of your choice) Previous Owners ;-) It is amazing the things some folks end up doing to keep a car on the road in some fashion.

What color wheels
Gold wheels on a silver car? Umm, that would have to be Nooooooo.

A/C compressor always on...
You should have an A/C switch somewhere in the car to turn it on and off. Most commonly, the dealer-installed switch seems to be under the drivers side dash or on the side of the center console. Those switches are a knob that turns to supposedly adjust how cold the air is or to turn it off. Of course, if you don't have a switch, that is likely why it is on all the time. I am sure someone will post a photo of what one looks like soon (I don't have one handy). Cheers, Doug

The 260z, us and 10 days of France
Basil, Welcome to the club! Great looking Z! Question for the group, did Nissan keep the 260Z name for non-US Z-cars until 78? Sounds like a great trip, looking forward to hearing more as you take the journey! The best ones are often the ones that start without a solid plan

Early stock air cleaner housing
Bruce - speaking of early air cleaner boxes, any chance you could poke Steve to send me the rubber seals for one that we talked about in June 08?

Need Ideas for Shipping a Hood
As someone who works in the transportation industry, I can assure you will need to pad and box it or it will get some dents and scuffs in it - that is the nature of the beast. Even so, there is a small chance it will get damaged regardless depending on how well it is packed - remember it will be put in a couple of different trailers throughout the journey with hundreds of other boxes. One small thing that will help is putting the label in the part of the box that should be on the top (which in this case would be one of the long, narrow sides; e.g. hood on it's side) and putting some of those UP arrows on the box indicated the orientation it should be at. If you are buying a BP hood with the intention of getting it and sticking it on your BP without any paint or bodywork, then padding and a crate will be needed to minimize the chances that it will get damaged. If this is the case, your best bet might be a road trip to pick it up yourself. If you are going to have it painted, then it is not such a big deal as the paint shop can take care of any minor damage when they prep for paint, so you could just stick it on a bus (as Mike B said), or give it to FedEx with a label taped to it. Hope this helps!

My 72 - 240Z
It's got the same finish as one of Bond's Aston Martins - the one the makes the car invisible (from whatever not too long ago Bond movie that was w/Halley Berry in it...)
