  1. Thanks Steve, I think I am ok with the FAA, as they use 2R or 2L almost exclusively If they get testy I'll just point to the Z and say I am waiting for clearance to take off. Nice fishhead btw
  2. Thanks Arne! Looks like someone named Michael moved me down to South Altanta?
  3. Arne, Could I bother you to add a pin (in yellow?) for me @ PDK airport in Atlanta, GA?
  4. Hey now, that was not very nice... I can remember a time when you wanted to be a member, and I think now you're just jealous that you can no longer be a member with that fire truck colored car

Arne, you want to restore a B for me??

Carl, The only reason an MG would need frequent parts replacement is when it is owned by a "tinkerer" - that is someone who feels the need to constantly fiddle with, and replace, parts (i.e. they like to work on their cars more than they like to drive them). Since many of these types own MG's for the reason that they are simple to work on, and have a wide assortment of parts available - MG's get a bad reputation. A well sorted MG will run just as trouble free as a well sorted Z will On topic, I have spent significantly more on Z parts than I have on my MGB in the past 5 years, no contest at all...
  7. Mike, Nice looking B! That is a sad picture of the 100-4 Seems to be common for people to sit on British classics and let them rot. I guess they still think they will get around to restoring it "one day" and see it that way in their mind's eye. Unfortunately, most do not get restored and by the time they finally admit defeat, it's usually too late for the car. I used to want to "upgrade" to a big Healey, but then I drove one around for a bit. No where near as comfortable and fun as the "B", although you really have to love the beauty of the big Healeys
  8. I already divide my time between the 240Z and this one:

  10. I am sure that Eddie Radatz in Kennesaw/Marietta, GA (770.926.6609) could take care of you as well if that is not too far away for you. He has been working on Z-cars almost exclusively since I beleive 1974 or so...

Alan, I'll give you that and ammend my statement to "Probably THE nicest collection of Z cars in the world" I'm sure Jim would be glad to give you the full tour if you want to come over and check it out to see if you agree!
  12. Scott, Your steering wheel is a Classic Nardi Personal Steering Wheel. You might have the name E. Nardi engraved on the right side spoke. I have one for my Z (but it is not on the car now and I don't have the Datsun horn button) and have one on my MGB (with an MGB horn button). These steering wheels need an adapter specific to the car model to mount it, and come standard with a Nardi horn button. They also make one like yours but with black spokes as well. Overall a very nice aftermarket steering wheel popular with many classic sports European cars (Jaguar, Porsche, Ferrari, Maseratti, MG, Triumph, Mercedes, Lotus, Fiat, etc.) I have not seen too many of them on 240Z's, but there are a few...
  13. Scott, Welcome! You've certainly done a lot of work on the old girl! Looks like it will be very nice when you get her done Your interior photo was a bit blurry, is that a Datsun horn button on your Nardi steering wheel?

M: Ah, Is this the right room for an argument? A: I told you once. M: No you haven't. A: Yes I have. M: When? A: Just now. M: You didn't! A: I'm telling you I did! M: You did not!! A: Oh, I'm sorry, just one moment. Is this a five minute argument or the full half hour?

Nice video, I would suggest that Jim now has THE nicest collection of Z cars in the world. I know a few of those cars that used to reside in a collection (now disbursed) in Atlanta, and they are very fine examples of the marque indeed

Heißen Sie willkommen zum Klub! I was in Berlin last month, and was on the lookout for any Z's, but did not see any. Looks like a nice solid example you've got there, and should be lots of fun to drive! Keep us up to date on what your doing with your new Z

Yes, I was not crazy about Yellow when I found mine, in fact I almost didn't buy it because it was Yellow. I was going to get an Orange or Blue one. But it was in such great shape with 50K original miles, I decided to go ahead, thinking I might repaint it someday. But once I got it, it has really grown on me and I think it is one of the best looking colors for a 240Z

Agreed, Ron's work is outstanding! As a repeat customer, I have one in my Yellow Z and it looks like new and performs flawlessly. I also put one in my '72 before it went to JoelH that was just as good! Highly recommended!

Sounds like a solid plan Steve. You might want to see if there is a decent Z mechanic near you and let them check out the engine - might be cheaper (and easier) in the long run if there is not much that really needs to be done to the engine rather than swapping it out. Besides, who knows what issues the new engine will have... BTW, you should join the "Yellow Z-Car Club". To do so, you just need to change the "Custom User Title" in the User CP --> Edit Your Details section (under the Optional Information section) to say "Yellow Z-Car Club" Cheers, Doug

Sorry, I misspoke on what to click on - try Go Advanced, and then click on the Attachments (looks like a paperclip), and then you can browse for the file on your computer. Once you have selected your file(s), click the upload button on the bottom right. It will them load the pic into your post, and will show up listed under the "Current Attachements" area, which is under the upload or browse area (see attached pic). It will then show up as a thumbnail in your post in the "Attached Thumbnails" section, like this one. You can also use the "Preview Post" button to make sure it has worked Don't worry, we'll get it sorted eventually!

Not to pester, but since I cannot see photobucket linked photos at work (where I read this board), PLEASE use the insert image feature of the site. All you have to do is click on "Go Advanced" buttom at the bottom of the text box, then use the "insert image" icon and upload it directly from your computer. You do not need to put them in the gallery or anything else. Simple, easy (easier than adding them to photobucket and posting a link) and the images remain in the thread for eternity, and those of us whose workplaces have blocked photobucket can see your pics.
  22. Matt, You are correct, the bumpers are a different shape - and the overriders are in different positions. Also, the bumper brackets and mounts are different (there was another recent thread about this). Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a good way to use a '73 bumper in a similar fashion to an earlier bumper. If I find a good set of bumper packing pieces on ebay or somewhere, I'll let you know! P.S. if anyone has a decent set of '72 or earlier front bumper overiders, I am in desparate need of a pair!

As Mike says, I would hesitate to try to remove the "skin" from an uncracked dash. I guess the best question is why you want to switch dashes - then we can provide more "focused" advice. As I mentioned, it is certainly possible, with some work.

As Arne has said, it will fit but the wiring is different. The good news is that you can take the gauges from your '73 and put them in the 71 dash, and that will solve most of the issues. Note that your lighted heater control panel is not a good fit, and some work/modification will be needed to get it to fit, or you can stick with the non-lighted heater control panel from the '71 dash (if it has one).
  25. Matt, I don't think you'd like the look without the packing, as it would leave a pretty noticable gap. I've seen these parts come up on ebay every now and again, and they are pretty reasonable for a decent one. Alternatively, you could try some flexible filler and/or paint if you don't want to wait to find another part. I was going to do this route myself, but in the end decided to convert to an earlier bumper Cheers, Doug
