Marius, What part of Romania are you in? My wife is Romanian, and we travel back there a couple of times a year. We still have a flat in Bucuresti (Sector 6) and have relatives at different points around the country. I've thought of bringing a car over there from here, but have not looked into the legal requirements to do so - is that an option for you? If so, I'd be glad to help on this end if I can.

Came upon the below auction, and since it is not too far away, looked a little closer. Something seemed a bit odd about the car, what do you think? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300275847579&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123 Listed as a '71 240Z with HLS30 29519, yet something seems a bit odd. I emailed the seller and asked about the discrepancies and was basically told to F-off: (photos provided for posterity):
  3. If I read my eBay code correctly, the car will be coming to a collector here in the Atlanta area (who is not a site member), who has had literally dozens of excellent Z cars. I hope I am correct as I would like to see it in person! Cheers, Doug
  4. Yes, I am watching both, and if one of them stays in the "affordable" range for me (unfortunately not very likely as they are close to exceeding it now), I will be placing a bid! The tough part is deciding which one to get as I really like them both!

Looks like you're off to a good start Randy!
  6. I emailed the seller, and he replied that he had the splash pan for the car. In the ad he states that something has discolored one side of the shift lever - for such a low miles car, that and the door panel wrinkling seems odd. Maybe it sat outside for some time?
  7. Is that the correct air filter box for an early '73? The one I had on my car did not look like that at all? The passenger side door panel also looks damaged (has lots of wrinkles). Is that the tool pouch stuck at the edge of the carpet on the driver's side hatch area? It also seems to have lost it's splash pan. I'd be curious if that "siren" was dealer installed (and on the paperwork). Regardless, looks like it will need some cleanup and TLC! As Manny says, does anyone actually know this car and can verify it's authenticity?

Welcome to the board, very nice looking 280Z you have there, I like that color! Be careful with owning 2 Z's, I think they tend to get jealous of one another if one gets more attention/driving than the other one. When I had two and drove my Lime Z most of the time, my Yellow Z ran like crap when I would take it out for a drive. When I sold the Lime Z and started driving the Yellow Z more regularly, it now runs great! So, just be sure to drive them both!
  9. Don't forget the lighted heater control panel (on the '73)!

Can you post a bit more of the console (like the choke area)?

Welcome Gene! You just missed the GA Z Club "show and shine" at Gwinnett Place Nissan this past Saturday. Unfortunately, all the 240Z's (except mine) stayed home this year (last year there were a bunch)! MikeW on this board is a member of the GA Z Club (and a good guy) and can tell you more about it. Good luck with your car, I'll keep an eye out for it when I am driving up that way in my MGB on nice weekends! We also have a couple of good Z mechanics down here (Eddie Radatz in Kennesaw and John Williams in Suwanee) who can take care of anything that proves to be too challenging!
  12. Excellent photos, very nice work on your Z Richard! Glad to see another "Yellow Z-Car Club" member! Mine was also originally lime, and is now PPG Base Yellow. As Jeff said, keep posting progress pics! Love to see a nice Z coming together!
  13. Welcome! You'll find many a kindered spirit here on the board. As Jeff said, we seem to have a lot of visually stimulated types here who love to look at pictures of Z's!
  14. @Stephen -- Don't do it man!

Unfortunately, Courtesy has been out of US and Euro OEM Spec springs for at least a year, if not longer. Perhaps another group buy would be in order?!?!?
  16. Add me as well - I agree with Stephen! Plenty of polical forums out there for these kind of topics...
  17. This is not a problem, as this lift comes with 3 large plastic trays that you can slide around between the ramps. If a lift does not come with them, you can also purchase them separately. BTW - congrats Marc on getting the lift in! I have the same brand lift from Greg Smith and also couldn't be happier!

Down here in the south I need my A/C! I love to drive my Z, and when it gets hot (90 ~ 100+) you really do need something to take the edge off the heat. After getting rid of the boat anchor, putting in a new light weight compressor, switching to R134 and upgrading to the Honda blower motor, my A/C does a fine job! To stay on topic, this is a beautiful car, and I am surprised the seller is letting it go. Last time I talked with him he said he was going to keep it, as it was indeed the best of the 7 VZ cars he owned at one point. If only I had space and $$$ to afford it...

Gwinnett Nissan is sponsoring the GZC annual car show this year on November 8, 2008 at Gwinnett Place Nissan. The show is classified as a casual "Show and Shine" so no trophies or prizes are scheduled to be awarded. The show starts at 10:30 AM until late afternoon. Gwinnett Nissan likes to cook out so they will supply lunch and drinks to all show participants. Last year we had almost 50 cars! See you there!

I have to agree with Stephen, regarding my use of eBay. However, I don't see the big deal about the fees, as long as you know what they are before you list - as you can then you can build it into your starting price. Now if you want to take a risk and start at $.01 with no reserve, then you take your chances. Otherwise, eBay gives the option to set whatever starting price you feel you need to get for an item, and even a reserve system to ensure that you can get what you feel is a fair price for your item + eBay fees. The part that I don't like about eBay is what 26oz'er described - the high cost of things now that sellers can typically find someone on eBay who is willing to pay more than I am for something!

I've got a Sony deck in my 240Z, and the stock antennea goes up when the unit is powered on, and goes down when the unit is powered off. If I turn the car off with the radio on, then the antennea stays up, but goes down part way and back up when I start the car again. FWIW, I didn't do anything special, but hook up the unit to the existing wiring to make this happen...

You should have one on the drivers side in the same location as well!

The set Arne mentions, or the one from MSA should work very well. I changed out my boat anchor compressor using the MSA compressor conversion kit http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/SAC01 (also replaced the hoses, flushed the evaporater, etc) and went to R134. That, combined with changing to the Civic fan blower motor gives my Z excellent A/C! It's cold enough that rarely do I ever have the fan on full, except on 95+ days sitting in traffic.
  24. Marc, Gald to be of assistance. Yes, the lift has the double lock system. It definately works because when we were installing it, we ran the cables the wrong way thru the first time (which made the system think the cable was broken) and the lift would not go anywhere! I like the added security - to me, anything that helps make sure that my car will not fall is a good thing The channel locks are good too, I just lift the car to the point I want it, then let if back down to engage the channel lock. So the lift is not dependant on hydralic pressure to keep it where it is. I got the 110 motor, it take about two minutes for the 110 motor to go from the ground to 6 feet up. To me, that is plenty fast enough. I like the plus version as it is higher than the standard. This means that I can put the car at 6 feet up and still have two more notches (over one more foot) to go higher, and I like that the lift is not all the way at the top where I normally keep it. I think it is more stable that way. If you have the ceiling room, I'd get the plus. If not, I am sure the standard would work just fine as well. Based on my photo, you can see that even with the standard you could keep it a bit lower for storage use (and raise to the top when you want to work on the car) and still get a car under it without a problem. Also, I did not have mine bolted down, and it stays in place just fine. Hope this helps, good luck with your lift purchase!
  25. Personally, I'm partial to a Yellow color...
