First Datsun owner. Socal.
Welcome to the board! Where exactly is Inland Empire anyway? :classic: I am sure you'll love your ZX even more once you start driving it. I am fortunate to have a couple of choices of which car to drive each day, and somehow I almost always pick a Z!

She's finally painted! Pictures
Car looks great! Now you just need to get a new, unbent license plate on the front and you'll be all set :classic:

which lip spoiler do you think looks the best?
I just ordered a BRE Style Front Spoiler from Les at Classic Datsun. You can see what it looks like by going to his site http://classicdatsun.com/ and clicking on 240Z parts, then click the tab across the top that says "Fiberglass" and you can see photos of the front and rear spoilers as well as other various parts he sells.

Took some photos of the lime 72

First ride in a 240Z
Where in Okinawa were you? I was at MCAS Futenma 82-84 :-) I saw my first S30 there as well, and immediately wanted one!

New Member, Old 240Z
Sorry to hear about your loss. Do you plan to rebuild your Z, or is it too far gone?

Rack, struts, spring, bushings
How long did it take for your springs to settle in (time or mileage)?

#305 on Ebay
My guess is that Chris is referring to the restoration program cars. My understanding is that actually 8 (21%) of these cars are owned by one individual, and I know for sure 7 (18%) are owned by another individual. Also, I was fortunate enough to see #17 before she left for Florida, as well as all the parts that are waiting to be installed, and I can say it will be an amazing and exellent example of a '69 car when it is completed! She is certainly getting the full treatment! :classic:

R200/half shaft rebuilder in Atlanta?
John does excellent work and is highly recommended. Another excellent mechanic in the area that has been working on 240Z's for many, many yearsr option is Eddie Radatz, he is at 961 Shallowford Rd NE, 30144, phone 770.926.6609. I am confident you will be happy no matter which of these guys you pick. Give them a call and they can give you an idea on the cost.

What's wrong with the 280's?
Hmm, if it's not a pora-potty, maybe it's the TARDIS :classic: Sorry, I'll go back to sleep now...

Hagerty Ins. ?
I use them on my 3 classics, great customer service, no complaints here!

MGB a little off topic here
Chris, GT's usually go for less than a roadster, but $9500 sounds about right if the car is in really good condition. With 29300 original miles, it may pull a bit more, again based on its condition. A pristine roadster 67 roadster with that low original mileage would go for over $20K IMO :classic: You can also post over on http://www.mgexperience.net/ and http://britishcarforum.com/ to help sell the car or get some more opinions :classic:

exhaust smell
I have the same problem on the '73. I also have an exhaust tip that is short and does not extend past (or up to) the rear bumper. One of these days I plan to get it extended, as I beleive that it is the culprit. I would love to know if you extend yours and it fixes the problem! :classic:

What would you take...
I would also recommend a book/magazines to read in the event something happens and you need to wait around for AAA to show up. Upgrading to AAA Plus (if you don't already have it) will get you 100 miles of towing, so you can get the car to a shop of your choice versus the closet place to where you get stuck. You may also want to bring something (plastic sheet) to put on the ground in the event you need to get under the car for any reason. Ductape is always useful, as well as some silicon sealant. A laptop with a wireless air card (cell phone card connection) could be very helpful if you get stuck somewhere and need to order parts, check the forum, etc. Of course, being this well prepared should mean a nice, uneventful (from a problem standpoint) trip!

1972 vs 1973 240z specifications
Arne, are you certain of the 8/72 date, as my '72 has a production date of 8/72, while my '73 has a 10/72 date? My '73 vin seems to be an early '73 one, and based on this I thought that the switch occured at the end of 09/72?

Roof racks for a Z
I'd be curious to see a bike mounted to that OEM luggage rack, as it does not appear to have any attachments to do so?

Roof racks for a Z
I have a Thule trunk mounted rack, that is similar to the design z-bane shows, and it works terrific on all my cars. It has the individual "holders" to carry up to two bikes (they make one similar for 3 or 4). I used it to carry two bikes just yesterday. I bought it and an REI store several years ago, but I believe this is the model: http://www.thuleracks.com/thule/product.asp?dept_id=8&sku=968 The two parts that brace on the car are adjustable, so they can fit everything from a van to a normal car trunk. This also allows you to adjust the carrying angle of the bikes as necessary. The 4 straps fit great on the top lip of the hatch and the bottom of the bumper on my Z's. The metal hooks on the ends of the upper straps have a rubber coating so you don't scratch the paint. If it stops raining here, I may go put it on to get a photo to illustrate the setup! :classic:

Stripes are on...went with White
Stripes look good Randy! You've got to stick all your photos into your gallery so they will be there for posterity :classic: Don't forget to add some pics of your TR6 as well! You going to come down to Rome, GA with it for British Car Day on May 19th?

Spent some time with my new aquisition...
Congrats on your new Z! You can get 5 slots in the orginal 14", or now in 15" or 17". MSA has the new 15" and 17" wheels, or you can get them from any shop that can get American Racing wheels. They are called AE/Sprint wheels on their website and in their catelog.

just wanted to see how old everyone is here?
Will be 43 the end of May, or, as I like to say, I'm going to be 29 for the 14th time :classic:
