I just ned a wuick procedure about locking the nut of the front whel bearing.. one guy tells me to tighten it hardly like tightening a wheel nut.. buy my uncle told me that the beaing should be loosen with half a turn of more I'm not sure to allow the bearing to expand under the effect of temperature.. does anybody know anything about it?? I dont want to destroy my whel thrust bearing by over tightening! Mohamed.
  2. Hi people, I just have the free time to put in the new parts which I was waiting for a long time.. they arived and I started taking off old ones a replacing them, shocks, springs and rear brake kit.. I was with my fiend next to the lifted car, he was pulling the shock absorber out and nicey! oil ws dripping, for the first moment I was glad to se that, because I thaught that the previous owner was intelligent and he put oil inside the tube for betteh heat transfer.. but suddenly my friend was laughing at me and he told me that this oil is from the strut itself:dead: then I told myself I a real idiot to think of that sice I noticed many stupid things before from the car done by previous owner such as REPLACEMENT ONE'S SIDE BRAKE PADS ONLY! since he cost about 21USD ONLY FROM THE DEALER!!:stupid: anywayz, we continued pulling out parts, the fun was with the front shocks, we pulled theshaft of the strut, firts it didnt wan to come out, I thaught ok due to negative presure since it was flooded with THE STRUT OIL AGAIN! well, it wasn't just leaking, a pulled few times harder and congratulations! I got in my hand the shaft af the strut only and I could nicely see the inside damper element! I could give a lecture of shocks with that $^!#! that guy idn even bother to replace the struts since he got the car USE ONE OF COURSE 12EARS AGO!! springs had different hights, I Don't know why.. oh god, my car well run like a BMW if I put it bac I guess! I discovered that I was driving a suspentionless vehicle! I'm really pissed of from that guy! today I hope that I'l pull out successfully the second rear strut and replace it.. :tapemouth Iguess I better go to the garage than wasting my tim burning ners on that guy:beard: I'll post photos when I get my car ready.. take care for now.. Mohamed..
  3. I'm willing to buy adjustables for my Z32, they are widely available, since I'm doing this, I told myself, it is a shame to buy them for the 300 since the queen is in the garage getting parts mounted back in tehre place and not buying her adjustable Compression rods! I saw once on a forum, I dont remember which one a guy who custumizes rods himself and sels them, I wonder if some companies like MSA or any other can provide them with some warranty.. I personally thaught of taking out the rods and cut away4 inches or a bit more then thread the 2 sides in opposite directions with fine threads a attach them with a long nut (threaded pime or what ever it is caleld with 2 locking nuts, but the question is, will the rod threads get sheared while braking? btw, I dont use any specia brakes or even drive extremely fast, I'm a regular weekend driver.. I'm sure that many people thaught of it and maybe even done it.. can I get some feedbacks please.. thanks. Mohamed.

gr8 answer, Stephen:) I was worried that I have swapped rear panels under the hatch that have no speakers:) I have them behind the seats in my '77 280Z also

do really the S30's have them originally?? how comes that many people are surprized (in fakt including me) when they hear or read about those splash pans? if so, is MSA supplying them?

isn't it interchangeable with other datsun push rods? try to take the old one "if you have it" and look for compatible one in junky yards.. sorry if I'm mistaken.

I buy from VB mostly, then the Nissan dealer, but that dealer has almost nothing:) and compatible parts from random spare parts shops (hard to find a high quality ones so easy).. andI'm willing to buy stuff like strut bars from MSA in future..

well that's what I call a heart cooling reply:) so there is no original/duplicate thing here:) coz when I saw them Green I said to my self, well Mohamed.. u have a paint job to do now! those green springs will look so stupid under your silver Z and it will look like weed lover's carLOL thanks for the confirmation Bo McCoy..

yes David (Montezuma), Juffair roads:sick: I took your advice, and now I have the whole pakage (KYB struts + integrated boots w. bump stops + ST springs) from shox.com I think that would be just enough right? well I thaught of aearly moddifaction which is throwing the plastic tie rope which is sopposed to hold the strut boot and use a Stainless steel jubley clip insted so it wont break fom the heat under the car..

yeah you are right about the rubber spacer. I'm confused because one BM guy told me that all springs need that seed, while I don se this part in any z parts resourse! I know that they share the same color as on the box.. but I saw them grey in internet.. who had same as those in GREEN?
  17. BuDavid replied to cplus's post in a topic in Help Me !!
it is really dangerous I would say Jim.. the pressure of the compression rod applied on this spot is too high while braking, much more than shaking the car by yourself! don't put your self in hazard.. fix it properly bro..
  18. BuDavid replied to z3crazy's post in a topic in Help Me !!
I agree, RUST! under the doors, the inner hatch panel (under the rubber) BUT mainly find the rust under the car! the chassis.. if it is too rusty the car will not be rigid as it is supposed to be, and that rust is not obvious so many cn be caught when buying a car... go below always.. look into bay area, look at the color at the edges of the fenders from inside, and if possible, u can try unbolting som painted bolts to se the color under them! check the response of the engine in various speeds weather if it is not mixing fuel/air proportionally carying of speed.. well u can check the dash "CLOCK"ROFL many have problems ith them (as I do):stupid: good luck:)

I ordered ST springs set for my '77 280Z and they safely arrived.. but the thing is that I noticed in the pictures that the ST springs come in grey color.. I received mine green?? is that right? I attach a picture of the box and pir of front spring (with sticker) and a rear one.. *other point.. while mounting the springs, do I need a rubber seat (spacer) under the spring? or with lowering spring it is not needed?
  20. I would say the body! the Z's shape s very attractive!

don't you ever give up on a Z until you see the road beneath you.. if you can't find an L28, just get an RB and fly with it;) maybe the babe is mad at you while you were angry on her and shouting??? easy on those old ladies.. all they need is respect.. wish you all the best togeather..

Stephen (Sblake 01) I totaly agree with you regarding the reliability of the EFI.. I'm also a 280Z owner, I just noted the positives that the 240Z has over the 280 (classical wise) EFI sounds modern, carbs infakt dual carbed engine gives the spirit of the new born Z in the world to me and to many people.. maybe I'm too young for this crap, but I would really like to get a 240Z (without giving up my 280Z).. in fact I mentioned in my precious post that the 280Z is more advanced than the 240 concerning suspension, electrical circuits and mainly the Engine and transmission.. I appologize if it sounded offensive to 280Z.. I really didnt mean it, I'm also a 280Z addict:love: I hope that I was clear this time:) cheers..
