hi people, I have purchased a weatherstrip kit from V.B recently, I removed the old rubber and took the car to a body shop for some rust treatment.. what is concerning me, I didnt have the outer hatch seals before and I dont know how are they fitted, when I received the new ones (2 on the sides and one U shaped on top arround the two upper corners) I was confused from the fitting of those parts, I already went searching for older posts but I'm not sure of what i read, I would appreciate if somebody has couple of pics of the installation of the outer rubber seals of the hatch shoing the profile of the rubber attached to the lip of the body.. thanx!

welcome between us in the Z community Steve! about choosing between 240-280Z I think that the 280 is not much bigger, it has bigger bumpers only as far as I know, since I'm a 280Z owner I I do have a thought about the 240Z as the real classic, I like my car so much, and the performance is good with the FI, but the dual carb. thing is the sexy thing in a Z dont you think so? anyway, a simple advice for a Z buyer, buy a very clean one from a guy who dont have on his car "FOR SALE";) u'll pay more but beleave me, u'll pay even more if u buy a "FOR SALE" one;) best luck..
  7. hi people, I was shocked when I opened the Victoria britihs's web site when i found out that there is no Z parts no more?? they are not selling these parts now or what happened to them? it was really good site with zcarparts, so the best spare parts site is motorsport now?:disappoin
  8. greetings to all, straight to the point:tapemouth I have been watching my 1977 280Z from the back and I always felt the i had a tilted right wheel, but i just discovered that i had an inclined back of my car from the right down by measuring the clearance between the car's body and the top of rear wheels.. I jacked my car (from both sides at the back on stands) i was shocked when I saw the right wheel hanging higher that the left one!?:surprised does it mean that the right shock is different from the left one? since I noticed that I have a different brake drum on the right than the one on left (original with fins) or the sway bar could cause such a thing?? in case of shock's problem, does Tokico have a specific type for the 1977 280Z? or I can go for any shock absorber with the same shape?? thank you in deposit.. Mohamed..

put the car on jack, go under the car and release the cable, turn it by hand and let someone sit on the drivers seat and watch the speedometer, if the speedo meter jumps to about 10mph then that means that your cable and speedomoeter is ok! if not, check the cable, u can reach it from the bottom of the dash board, open it same way as u open it from the tranny, and do the same, u can see it by eyes if it is rotating! a nother thing that your cable gear might be damaged (same as in my case) my speedo dont work, the cable and meter are ok, and i found out that the cable driving gear was missing.
  10. yeah u r right, but i think that i'll just go or the middle muffler and that's it thanks for the tip.
  11. hi people, I alloready discussed this matter before and I'm about to go through the annual registery renewal of my 280Z, I'm afraid of my annoying muffler that I have, the car might not pass the technical test, many people from this forum recommended the "turbo muffler" to be used without the middle muffler "resonator" in my case, I have a long Datsun manifold I guess some Z cars came with it (not sure) and a 2.5" pipe goes from the manifold to the rear muffler, the one I have is a through muffler which has a cylindrical shape with a 2.5" pipe in it (with drilled holes) and seems to be compressed with fiber glass.. anyway, if I go for turbo muffler, what is the flow of the exhaust gas in it? is it correcot in the drawing? please if anyone has the dimensions of "a", "b" and "c" please send me the figures but consider the 2.5 pipe.. OR one guy told me to reduce the noise just put a nother through muffler in the middle without fiber glass (the cylinder and dashed pipe in it) and keep the rear one that I have ocz it sits well, since I have removed rear bumpers it might seem ugly if I mount the oval shape muffler!:stupid: I'm really confused now, any muffler expert here? plz help:(

  14. hi people, I got a victoriabritish catalog recently and i found some parts and i noticed the prices had to types "list" and "sell"??? there was an explaination but i'm really not sure of it! considering that I'm outside of the US which price will be given to me? "sell" or "list"? thanks pals.. Mohamed
  15. Hi all, I dont have a Canister under the hood of my 1977 280Z.. is it ok to put any canister from any car? coz my friend has the same car and has a canister from a GMC Jimmy 1991 I guess.. and i read while searching the forum that it should have 3 connections but i'm not sure of them, coz i have a line coming from the tank to the fule filter, then goes to the fule rail above the injectors, and the second line is the return line to the tank i guess, but a pipe sticks in the place where the canister should be, i have no idea from where it comes or where it goes.. i read that it improves the fule consumption by 10 Miles per Gallon which is approx. 4Km per Liter! which is quite fair! is there any compaitable canister other than the GMC one or i have to find and original one?:stupid: thanx

it would be good to find an osciloscope, but in regular case u can use an AC volt meter a connect it with one plug of one of the flooding injectors, check weather the signal varies while u start the engine or u can just open the flow meter cap and manually turn the flap anti clock wise to see if there will be any difference in th evoltage feeding the injectors! sorry if i could not help Mohammed
  17. gnosez! wow man, thanx i just figured out how to purchase them online using the part number only u sent, yes they have it by 19$Q! many thanx bro..

what about the way the engine run after starting it? too much fule? black smoke? u might have wiring problem, coz only one injector should flow when the key is on before starting (the seventh for the cold start right after the throttle valve on top) but i cant c that u noticed that any wiring modifications??!
  19. HizAndHerz, yeah i noticed that coz i couldnt c anything online:( thanx for clearing it out... Montoya fan01, I thaught about "approved" that is approved by people from the forum:) some spare parts people experienced and worked same as original or even better, like 555 for instance.. I'll order a catalog and wait 2 weeks i guess:s many thanks for the tips guys.. cheers

  21. wow, suddenly bunch of replies:), anyway, plz can you type me the site that sells the part by 19$each? coz i really cant find such a thing, besides on motorsport (zcarparts) dont have items on net as far as i can see!? victoria british have only some body panels and some rubber things.. on cortesysparts they sell the outer tie rod by 49$ !! do i have to change my inner tie rod also? it remains upwards when i lift it freely (not jammed) means the ball is not lose od what? plz send me a good link guys, i cant wawtch my z parked like that:(
  22. unbeleaveable!! no one knows about that?
  23. hi people, i was looking for outer tie rod ends here in my country for my 1977 280Z but unfortunatelly the are not available at all.. I looked on the internet for those parts on web sites but they costed arround 48$ each?? those prices were on victoria british and courtesys parts i think ( hope that i got the correct spelling) i dont beleve that they could cost that much, coz a normal 555 tie rod for a 280ZX cost 44$ for both.. while i need new shocks and adjustable springs if available is there any good approved spare parts agent that sells parts for 280Z with reasonable prices and able to ship? i asked people here coz i know that they love thier Z's, and so they buy good stuff for them.. hope to get an answer from u soon, thanx.. Mohamed
