  1. Why is it that all the TCA bushing kits I have seen for sale basically only replace one half of the bushings? The delrin bushing and aluminum cup fit on one side of the TC rod while the other side still retains the OEM rubber bushing. Is that right??? Shouldn't both bushings for each TCA be changed (for a total of 4)? Aftermarket TCAs with spherical bearings on the end of them are more and more appealing everyday. -e
  2. Yeah that's it Mike.... Have you got his email address? That would be great. Nice bikes!.... -e

for anyone else that needed this service they are in the city of hawthorne, ca here in the LA area and they charge roughly $150 for the service. -e
  5. Did anyone else take a flyer from this guy? Hi sdemo car was a Z racecar that was up on jackstands to show off his suspension work - it was red in colour.... Anyone, anyone?.... His email address was something like dat240z@yahoo.com but I think I jotted it down incorrectly as I seem to remember there was something more to it... anyone have that? -e

I would be interested in the front one only... can you send me a pic or a link so I know exactly which it is?... or wait I can actually go looking for a car in the member galleries and see if I can find there which one it is you are talking about... Be right back. -e
  9. Alan, Thanks for the exploded view but I already had. I've looked at my jets again and here's the numbers I have been able to get off of them. Don't know which means what though... Idle jet holder: no stamping of any kind Idle jet : 50°F9 Emulsion tube holder: 180 Emulsion tube: F2 Main jet: 130 I still need to get you the choke size and the series # for my particular DCOE. I will try to do that today. -e
  10. Is anyone stateside and on the board here using the old Nissan Comp Mk63 4piston calipers. HS30-H has shared that in Europe they use them in conjunction with Peugeot 306 vented rotors - short of getting the diam/thickness/offset of those rotors and matching them up to something locally I am wondering if someone here has already found a suitable US unit? -e

I was recommended to take my R180 LSD diff to Pierre Z here in Los Angeles - I believe he is in the SF Valley but I don't know what city - Does anyone here know? Thanks, -e
  12. here's the pci of the broken top cover... PS: how do you attach multiple images in one posting?
  13. I purchased a set of Weber 40 DCOE triples from some guy on ebay who told me they'd been off a car for only 6 months - seeing what I found inside makes me believe that while they may indeed have only been off the car for 6months the car they were on must have been stationary for years.... Th box they arrived in had been sat on by UPS and I didn't see right away that the manifold had broken at one of the balance tubes - anyways nothing a bit of welding can't fix.... so ANYWAYS... here's my question take a look at the two detail shots below> One is of a particularly grungy main jet which I've since had soaking in carb cleaner for days on end and most of this crud has yet to come off - would you all advise me to simply swap the jets out for new ones? all 6 main jets and all 6 idle jets look like this. Also one of the ears on one of the top covers is broken (apparently when someone tried to pry them open to knock out the shaft the floater rotates on)... I found the broken piece at the bottom of the carb on tear down and could foresee JB wedling it back on in a way where it won't fall off again. I contacted Pierce Manifolds in NorCal and they are out of new top covers - I am sure there are other Weber places but I don't know of them. Any advice would be most appreciated, -e
  14. I agree sometime Ray at nismoparts is a bit slow to answer emails but everytime I have ordered something from them that did have a price next to it on the website it did show up on my doorstep a week or so later.... the items that they have as NLA simply don't have price fields next to them anymore.... -e
  15. Royce, CA license plate 3WIK075 belongs to the owner of www.classicdatsun.com down in Vista, CA (between LA & SD) so that's quite a drive up to Buttonwillow... SUPER nice guy and you did notice the car was RHD right?... just kidding.... although it looks like a 432 it isn't of course just a Japanese Z with US plates on it. -e
  16. Enrique, You are correct, Japanese Zs do not have rear sidemarkers at all so the 5th bulb in their tail light does serve this purpose... What you've taught me (and it saves me a lot of time) is where the turn signal and brake light are merged in the US wiring harness (by the hazard switch) thanks a lot for that. As regards the key - let me find it (I just moved from apt to house) and I'll send it off to you on Monday - I'll get back to you where to send the $$s then too. -e
  17. Ok we saw the price Charlie up in Canada has them for, right (I've actually got a set on the way according to him - cool.) Courtesy was at $120 but supposedly NLA - which was again confirmed by an email I just got from their sales dept. That does leave www.nismoparts.com (Bruce Titus dealership in Seattle) where they are listed at $108/side - I emailed Ray inquiring about availability and have yet to get a reply. just fyi'ing since no one had mentionned the above place as a source for them.... -e

Escalon, No there's nothing too special about it. It has a sideways "Z" on it and reads "Nissan Motor" underneath. I did contact Andy but he offered to just sell me another one which might fit.... I thought it might be better just to sell it to one of the guys here than to return it to Andy for an exchange.... Hey I paid $5 for it but if no one wants it then so be it. -e

Doehring: that model yesterday was the Kyosho 1:18 12900yen in Japan - Here stateside I've seen them for between $35 and $75. To all: Should we have a web space created and upload all of our scanned images there and use that to create our history book? I think I can come up with some good ones and I have existing web space somewhere else where I could store my images for the time being - just need the time to scan them in I guess.... -e

Dear Alan, Cher Fred, When I was in Japan last (last week of April) I did pick up a new Fairlady book which covers of course the whole development of the street car and its various clay model iterations prior to finding the production version (of interest to me since I am to be an automobile designer) but also a pretty thorough section on competition covering both Japanese and American circuit racing and the Rally effort over the rest of the world. It IS in Japanese and off the top of my head I can't remember the author's name (in order to check if some of you already have this book in which case it would be a moot point) I can however describe the appearance of its cover - perhaps this might ring some bells with someone? Hard bound book with a white dust cover on which there is a large "Z" - the subtitle being as I recall "The Fairlady Story" and at the bottom next to the author's name there's a side view illustration of one of the BRE Z cars. On a different topic, the latest issue of NosHero is KICKASS - when you see the cover you will buy it instantly. There's an old orange race 432 that is apparently built to the hilt. In the book I've mentionned above this same car is pictured there too. I can scan & upload if interested. -e

I bought one key like the one pictured below from "thedatsundude" on ebay and it turns out that the grooves are exactly the opposite of what I need for my '73 240Z I guess that this key fits the early ignitions??? You'll have to check to make sure... Anyways he sold it to me for $5 + s/h Does any one here want to buy it? -e
  22. Really Royce? buttonwillow earlier this month? Darn - i was supposed to go to that one..... -e

Hey Rodd, Alan, and Guus, (and anyone else?) Just so you guys know there is some interest from the states as regards this thread - I can think of at least two of us for sure... then again I am a displaced French citizen and my friend is of Dutch decent - so maybe we are just another bunch of Euros too then, eh? If we haven't contributed it is probably because we are probably not quite as versed on the matter as you all... -e
  25. In short: hi-comp, fuel injected, MOTEC-controlled, individual throttle bodies, crank fired ignition, cast AL oil pan..... etc..... sick! http://www5a.biglobe.ne.jp/~satotats/zhp/zgazou/catalog.htm if you hit the back button at the bottom of his page you can go through the whole building up ("makeing") of his Z car.... sheesh... -e
