I know this is an older thread... but will the rack come out of the car with the engine still in place? or does the engine need to be raised to give the required clearance? i was under the car this weekend for some other issues and happened to look at the rack and wondered out loud if I would manage to get it out with the engine still in place... thanks, -e

In addition Mini USA is organizing a cross-country trip set to kick off Monday August 21 from Monterey to commemorate the event. Needless to say my wife and I will attend in our Mini Cooper S. So far there are 295 cars signed up to do the first leg between Monterey and Santa Barbara... there's 250 signed up to do the second leg from Santa Barbara to Las Vegas on Tuesday August 22... I just remember seeing a car here in the states that was that root beer brown and from memory it seemed to me to be the same color as the ZG... could be wrong though - i guess there might have been multiple shades... as to the original purpose of this thread: what a sweet concept... if the drive wasn't so long i'd make the trip more frequently.. ahahaha -e

i gotta agree with Stephen... the last time we spoke about buying/importing skylines from japan i contacted an outfit called Monkeys who had gotten a KPGC10 to L.A. before and once everything was said and done it really doesn't appear that dramatic at all to get exactly what you want straight from Japan... Why settle for a beater project car, when for just a little more you could get everything you wanted? That's my $0.02... -e

I am mailing the original to Stephen first thing Friday morning. He ought to have it in his hands by Saturday. I guess it will be up to Stephen if he decides to make copies for everyone or if he just sends a copy to the first person then that person copies it and passes it on... The quality might get worse and worse unless the same "master" copy went around to everyone... Whatever you think is best. Doesn't matter to me either way. Stephen's the man so you should ask him. -e

Hi all, Does anyone out there have the ability to take a Zone 2 DVD (ie Japan) and copy/convert to Zone 1 or better yet no zone? I bought a 57min DVD of historical interest to the fans of both the PGC10 and KPGC10 when I was in Japan last month. Of the first 49 races the original GT-Rs appeared in, it features original race footage from at least 5 of them. There's even some Prince GT-B and R380 race footage too, along with two lengthy interviews (in Japanese) with Kunimitsu Takahashi and another older gentleman who's name I don't know. While I did buy this DVD at the full retail price of 4725yen, it isn't in my interest to make money off of the potential copies. As such I would expect the person that can copy/convert would also not try to make a buck off of them, maybe just charge for the cost of the blank DVD-R? Anyways, yeah let me know if someone has this capability and is interested... Below are the scans of the jacket sleeves. -e

Yeah I only scanned 4 or 5 pages out of each mag, and they are usually 100+pages long so you have to use your imagination a little bit as to what the rest of the mag contains... always features more than just 5 cars so don't assume the scans I've shown are the ONLY cars in each of the mags... sure there's a whole bunch of classifieds and ads at the back but those can come in pretty useful too when planning your next trip to Japan! -e
