Personally I'm diggin' the old school 5-slots but that's just me...go for what makes you happy...BTW, when you installed your bullet mirrors did you move the mounting locations forward slightly..3.5" or 4" mirrors?
  2. Hey Gav, yeah for you to "ring him up" on his non-published phone number would have been futile. If you had any troubles you would have been S.O.L. The price is good but it's crap shoot service in my book...BTW always like to see the wheels on your ride...did you post spec on those? :beard:
  3. I just did this last fall...Eibach Pro-Kit springs with Tokico blues...I originally had KYBs and a set of Contour Springs ...the springs were a little too stiff for the KYBs and blew them out ultimately...consider the performance of the spring you buy and the strut cartridges as a set...this set up is sweet for me, mine is a daily driver so a smooth ride is a necessity. It's smooth in normal driving conditions but take a sweeper exit ramp or quick switch back and the progressive spring rates with the damping of the Tokicos kick in...it's almost too good ... like on rails... I have to remember to watch my speed. The drop is not too aggressive only 1" but with 15" rims and 60 profile tires the wheels tuck into the arches nicely....check my gallery...not too hard on the wallet either...if you're shopping Tokicos on ebay beware of jdmwerks, good prices but the seller is a real p***k (v.o.e here...he took my money with buy it now, did not answer any of my emails in which I repeatedly left my contact info, I was on the road on business and my suspension was in pieces at the shop, when I posted neutral feedback, he blocked me from future auctions)...check his feedback profile there's a common theme, caveat emptor...www.shox.com is good for Eibachs...but shop around, don't be afraid to work local sources against the internet for your price...good luck with it
  4. Wassup Z bro! This would be fun...I need to stay with black powder coat for the overall aesthetic of my exterior concept...you're shop doesn't powder coat? Did you pull your engine? I should drop by tu casa sometime...it would be trick if the ER/MW contingent could z-convoy to the MSA event...I'll ring you up so we can talk realtime...
  5. yup, beautiful, mine look exactly like those...
  6. Thanks for the thought but this will be a daily driver so I need whatever minimal protection the metal bumpers can provide...I took the risers and "nerf" bars off years ago, so they're pretty lean already... :beard:
  7. Nice work Rick...unfortunately I don't have budget right now to pull the engine...I'll let necessity force that issue...VERY, VERY, clean underbody...what did you do with your exhaust? No rear sway bar? I'd love to compare notes in person...
  8. If you folks are diggin' the side racing stripes check these out: http://www.graphic-express.com/import_datsun.htm 3M reflective die-cut decals matching original patterns...I thought the black/reflective white would be pretty trick...
  9. Hey Z-people... I'm looking for a good shop in the 818/310/213/626 area code (I know it's a wide spread) to straighten and re-powdercoat my bumpers, door handles, and wiper arms...the first job done in the mid 80s has held up but time/smog has taken its toll...reasonable prices but quality workmanship foremost...thx...

Hey Doug...I'm diggin' yellow Zs, what's the color code/name of yours...I pulled up (in my Neon) alongside a new Lotus Elan recently in Saffron Yellow...nice...there's also a color on the new RX-8 that really has my attention...
  11. Yup...would like to do the same...there may be an outside possibility of a family vacation conflict, but we're relatively "local" so it's just a matter of time ... it would be great if someone could locate that back edition of the magazine...got pics of your '70 in your gallery? I gotta hustle now and get some parts lined up...thanks for the good vibes Rick...
  12. There was a cover story in either Road and Track or Car and Driver on her when the new Z body first came out...it had her orange 240 in the background with the new body style in front...I think she moved to AZ, maybe Phoenix area and was raising horses...I too purchased some stuff from the new outfit, but it wasn't the same vibe...glad to see some "old school" zed heads who still remember Gail, she was really great and knew her Z s***...hope to meet you guys sometime... :beard:
  13. Thanks guys...believe me, I've had my share of domestic strife over it "...but baby don't make me make a choice..." Tony is awesome...since this is a Cali car it didn't have some of the serious rust issues some of you are dealing with...he really loves what he does...he was joking that he should specialize in Zs...I think he's diggin' my enthusiasm as well, crafts people appreciate being appreciated...stay tuned
  14. Greetingzzz, Hope your new year is off to a good start...been a while since I've posted... Today I went to the body shop that's doing the work on my Z and about fell down. I have found a gem of a craftsman, I can't believe the transformation that my man Tony has performed... (back story) I purchased my Z from a co-worker in the mid 80s...first effort was a hack 1 Day Paint & Body job over the original silver..if you ever use those guys, strip your car of EVERY thing you don't want oversprayed, not happy but it held up mostly...fast forward slightly...360'd into a median less than 1/4 mile from home, bent the body, broke the right rear suspension arm, and two rims...thank God for Gail Betz and Premier Products...a few more years later, a cinder block wall fell on it during the Northridge EQ ravaging the driver's side and hood, you can see that damage in my gallery....sometime later I had the body straightened... Several times over the years, I felt that I should just give it up but somehow kept the faith that one day I would get 'er put back together. Today that faith was realized and it is exciting to see that this part of the project is nearing completion and my Z will enjoy a revitalized life on the road. Last time I saw my car it was stripped to the bare metal...I was fatigued from the cash outlay and the time (you can see the recent suspension work in my gallery)...today it's all blocked out with primer...all the dents have been hammered out...yes Tony took off all the old bondo, and hammered out the dents and then applied skim coats of filler only for final smoothing, all misc holes filled with metal/lead, rusted qtr panels cut out and replacements welded in. We should be pulling the fenders next week and dealing with what's under there including those seals as escanlon so articulately described...he'll also replace the rusted portions of the hatch... I had been struggling with color options so Tony whipped up some samples with the various treatments of pearl and candy flake we had discussed, this is something a color chip can not communicate. We want to wait until it's painted to show the result but it really pays to work with someone who knows what they're doing...it's going to be fun rolling up to valet parking (or maybe not...) I hope to make it to the West Coast Nationals in April not to compete or anything but to share the completed project with this amazing Z community that has grown over the years. I would have made some better choices if this site was around back then. I'll be posting the wip pics to my gallery shortly...I still have interior work to do, seats, carpet, soundproofing etc. but that'll be fun, I can do that stuff...sorry for the long post but I thought this group would understand. Thanks for the support, keep up the good work and don't forget to buckle up... Z you out there

Nice to see these are back out but they're only the lenses...not the entire housing..I see they don't have the raised ribs for chroming like the originals. My resto budget is already out the roof...these will have to wait... :beard:
  18. I was thinking about these as an alternative to the Ansen-type 5 slot mags...can't WheelBoyz hook you up with a set for a good price?
  19. At least you're still in one piece... Have you seen these? http://www.centerlinewheels.com Their factory is local here(LA freeway close) you could have them make up a set of Cruising Customs to take home with you (they'll let you pickup)...don't know what the current lead time is but their pricing is reasonable given what you could spend on rims... Click on Buy Online scroll the select window all the way down and select Z-car(Datsun)...good thing is they don't charge you for custom backspace/offset...15" to 17" diameters...
