6.5" Infinity Kappas in Doors?
I'm needing to deal with my door panels/speaker installation since my 240 is now at the paint shop...it's been a few months since this post, what's happening with this "better answer"..? I'm looking for good alternatives to paying a premium for a NOS and not wanting to cut into those... :beard:

ProKit/Tokico HPs....yeah baby!
Hey Tom, Funny you mention this, thanks to all this site, I've been considering a different tire sizing along your thoughts for my next set of tires. I'm no wheel/tire expert but this thread has more specific info about 15x7 wheel/tire combos... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18149&highlight=225 Check out zguitar71's post...since you're only going 215/50 you should be within a safe margin without rubbing when turning. With the 50 aspect/ratio you'll lose appr. another 3/4" of tire diameter (if I did my math right)...with the ProKits I have about 1" of room left between the top of the tire and the edge of the wheelwell arch...you might get some bottoming out on bigger dips, but maybe someone else here can confirm...check through the wheels/tire forum to verify for yourself or consult your wheel/tire guy before you buy...good luck with it! :beard:

ProKit/Tokico HPs....yeah baby!
Hey Tom, I'm running Firestone Firehawk 205/60 15s on Riken RTX 15x7s...gotta say this is the best this car has handled for me...now I'm looking for any excuse to take 'er for a run... The most dramatic change is how the strut inserts really damp the rebound of the springs...with my old setup (Contour coils/KYB gas strut inserts) the springs would on occasion overpower the struts and cause a little skipping. Expansion seams are now not jarring at all, there's a little blip, then the suspension smooths out. It also seems to handle road undulations much nicer, a slight bounce then it evens out...I think my old setup was perfect for autocrossing, it was really flat in the turns but just harsh for daily driving...this was a great mod for me and worth the wait... :beard:

ProKit/Tokico HPs....yeah baby!
Got my ride back from the mechanic this weekend....WOW what a difference . All of you who made the positive comments about this combo were right on...For my brisk daily driving purposes this combo is fine. The wheels/tires tuck in nicely in the arches with enough room....total drop was about 1". Sweeper exit/entrance ramps are really smooth now and the tracking is superb, I have to remember to use my brakes...I'll post a pic...now off to paint!

240Z Chassis Flex. Do strut tower bars make a difference? (Any Suggestions?)
I spun my 240Z out years back and bent the body slightly in the back, after straightening it would track OK but I felt some of the flexing you spoke about...I installed this three-point brace from Top-end Performance and it really helps firming up that area now...I'm thinking about their front brace to complete the effect:

how to soften ride for a 240
jmark...I'll have essentially the same setup when I'm done but on 15 x 7 Riken RTXs...what tires are you running? What was the drop when you were done?

how to soften ride for a 240
If you don't go for a lowering spring, and yours are still in good shape...KYB GR2s gas strut inserts might be a good replacement solution...have you had the sciatica checked out? I'm in the process of some mechanical upgrades including Tokico non-adjustable gas struts/Eibach ProKit springs...won't be able to drive it for another week or so, but I can report my findings when I do... (I rented a Buick Century for a work trip this past summer, it was like driving a Lazy Boy chair, complete detachment from the road...get the sciatica fixed so you can enjoy your Z...post a pic of your single owner ride )

Anyone have a phone # for JDMWerks?
My beef with him was that he did not communicate with me, my feedback was factually stated, I did receive the item but he never once acknowledged my emails, payment or even that the shipment went out...communication is one of the basic premises of the ebay experience whether it's a $30 or $300 item. I got called out of town on short notice last Friday and needed to get confirmation of the shipment so I could advise my mechanic on the wait. My suspension was in pieces and I needed to let him now how long the wait would be. The kicker was that jdmwerks got his cash immediately with BIN from my PP account...I don't have to wait for clearance...so he doesn't want deal with a quick paying, communicating ebayer, then so be it...never again...I glad it went well for you, but I think you takes your chances with this guy... :beard:

Anyone have a phone # for JDMWerks?
The guy is an arse...I stated his lack of communication in my neutral ebay feedback...he reciprocated with his own neutral feedback that he won't deal with me again (this is after I paid IMMEDIATELY from paypal...no clearance was necessary)...his prices may be good but his business manner sucks...no matter we both got what we needed...my Z goes on Buyer beware...(check his feedback ratings, there's a commonality of lack of communication...I took a chance that it would be OK, he let me down. For a seller not to respond to questions regarding a high $ item is not acceptable...)

No shame...you're amongst friends...1 spinout and the Northridge EQ took a toll on mine...I'm hoping to get into paint/body by the weekend...it's been a LONG time for mine but it'll be worth the wait and $$$...thanks for the info! :beard:

Anyone have a phone # for JDMWerks?
Thanks man...I just checked my paypal status and my package is scheduled for delivery tomorrow...I have not had one reply to any of my ebay or paypal messages...based on this experience I would not patronize JDMWerks again...the price may be good but the non-communication is unacceptable...(your experience may vary...)

Numerous ebay messages are not being answered...I read they were based in Anaheim...thanks for any help...

Check with Classic Datsun Motorsports or Too Intense Restoration...MSA may also have the pieces...

Great deal on 240 & early 260Z Tokico illuminas with springs Brand new! (Ebay)
Did you happen to get a phone # for JDMWERKS? I took the bait and ordered a set of the HPs...I figured if they were in Anaheim it should only take a day...I have not had any confirming shipment email or receipt of payment except for paypal...I'm a bit peeved as my car is in pieces and I have no way of knowing when the struts should arrive...

will these fit?
Won't this fitment lower the overall wheel/tire height...I did a +1 wheel conversion with 205/60 tires...wouldn't 225/50 be wider but also lower?

Installing Eibach Pro springs
I'm having the same springs installed...from what I've read, I don't think the drop will be enough to require bump steer spacers, someone else here can confirm, but we will have to have an alignment after the install...what size wheels/rims are you running? How old are your struts? Don't be surprised if you find issues with them or other components of the strut assembly (hopefully not)...I ended up having to replace my strut inserts, 1 was completely blown...hope it goes well for you... :beard:

MSA BRE rear spoiler-heads up
Hey Brian, Just checked out your gallery, is the paint on your 8/71 original? Curious about the muffler also...or actually twice pipes?...Your ride looks to be in really good shape! I'm curious why yours doesn't have the chrome bars on top of the overriders in the front and on the rear? My 4/71 came with those, I thought it was for crash safety regulations..was that only in California?

MSA BRE rear spoiler-heads up
I had the pleasure of visiting CDM recently...Les was busy but still hospitable, allowed me to look around...seems like he's really busy with Roadsters but there was an amazing Bob Sharp 510 and a beautiful metallic blue 240Z (3 x Weber) in process...that engine bay was SO beautiful, it was cool to see what it looks like "new"...CDM is definitely a good source for Datsun parts/service/knowledge...I debated the extra $$$ he charges for the 'glass parts but reading several posts about MSA's versions decided to go with CDM...thanks for the extra info, just confirms my choice...
