Thinking of selling my Z... advice?
This is interesting, can I get a collector car rider on my regular auto insurance or is Hagerty's a specialty provider?

MSA BRE rear spoiler-heads up
The one the CDM sells is period correct for an early 432 http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18673&page=2&pp=15 but not "BRE"...he does also sell that spook from a BRE mold...his version has a little more lip material that actually can mount to the three holes in the frame member behind the radiator...I have not yet installed mine, there are six bolts for attachment: 2 along the width of each end where it touches the hatch and 1 on either side of the lock button...it looks to be well made, the bolts are molded into the fiberglass several layers deep..no template included but I don't think it will be a problem to get it to fit...may have to do some slight trimming to ensure the edges are flush...

Thinking of selling my Z... advice?
Considering the time, effort and $$$ it took to get your present in this shape starting over might be more expensive overall...at least your current ride is in really good condition and you know everything going on with it...you don't know what you'll find with the next one...I'm with xray on this, if you can maybe hold on to it for that little while...once you buy that house it may be difficult to keep that self-promise...good luck with it...

Info needed about my 71 Fairlady Z
Hey Alan, thanks for that link...interesting to see the color chips associated with the full body shots...somehow the 919 flavor in the chips and the bodyshot look different, the bodyshot is somewhat paler and flourescent...I'm leaning towards this...I found a FIAT yellow (giallo) that is similar...does the color chart in the brochure have the color codes?

Info needed about my 71 Fairlady Z
I noticed the white body filler plugs where the "Datsun" emblem would be without the wing on the hatch...I wondered if they actually did send them out that way...I was thinking about filling mine over (...there's a part # for that...)

That lime yellow I thought came on later in '71, the yellow I'm speaking of looks like in that brochure but your scheme is confusing, I thought the entire unibody(not the underside) was sprayed the body color. Mine originally was silver, I think the PO repainted but kept the original color, interior panels and the engine bay match...I then painted it white...is your color code sticker still intact? BTW, does your have a rear sway bar? I'd be interested to see how that was mounted...

Great deal on 240 & early 260Z Tokico illuminas with springs Brand new! (Ebay)
He's back on with some HP sets @ $199 BIN...in the US with shipping, insurance and/or tax that's only around $57/wheel...I think that's the lowest price I've found on the blues...

Under hood rubber seals...
Did those headlights "drop in" or did you have to augment the basic wiring? Would it be possible to connect the amber bulb in series with the turn signal? Let's chat if you ever get tired of your headlight covers

Info needed about my 71 Fairlady Z
Hey Alan, This has become another great thread! I re-read through the "Home Market Options" again...the CDM rear wing copy looks pretty good then...would you mind to scan a close up of the body color chart? Although mine is a 4/71 and the brochure is for '70 I'm trying to hone in on a flavor of yellow, isn't the '70 different than what showed up in '71?...I haven't settled yet on a color and am still considering options...at first I thought I'd try something completely different but my color testing is bringing me back to yellow...or maybe orange...or ??? Thanks for your help...

Under hood rubber seals...
da***it...da**it...I was over at the mechanic's and was able to see the seal from up underneath the wheelwell...they're lookin' like dog earred pups, there's no contact with the fender at the front end of the seal by the light bucket...I'll talk with my paint guy and see how much extra it'll cost to pull the fenders...thanks for the tip ^^^ ...

Hey Victor...wassup! Thanks for the comment...these are actually ca. '87 Riken RTX 15x7 machined faced w/polished rims...4 x 114.3 0 offset...the plan is to fit 2-bar knock-offs giving an initial impression of old school wire wheels ala Jag, MG...gotta get 'er painted first...

Under hood rubber seals...
I see you're in the PAC NW...actually unless it's our "rainy" season...no (you would laugh at our "team coverage" of rain... ) but your point is well taken...I'll take a look before I go to paint...BTW looking at the pics ampsman did where would I check that flap, through the inner door jamb, under the the car? Not to be dense but since I don't have access to my car right now, I can't visualize this access... (I like the look of the chrome trim headlight covers...what's with your headlights? Are they some lamp retro fit?)

Under hood rubber seals...
Hey guys...thanks for the posts in this thread...if my paint guy does decide to pull the fenders I'll make sure to be around to observe/photo all of the pad and gasket orientations before painting to have exact reference for replacements...at what point would one have to replace this seal? Since I'm in SoCal we usually don't get that much rain...

I wondered what that was in the front of the passenger area...you've got very good eyes to notice the 5-speed...I recently picked up a 432 style rear wing from CDM it has the "aero" ribs, is that OEM style? I'm going for a BRE/432/Jag influenced makeover...it won't be a spot on reproduction but I hope that the styling cues meld well ...
