Scored a new Motorsport short throw shifter today at ecology for 12 dollars. Anyway 1/2 price weekend at ecology in Chula Vista sat/sun. A 75 came in today with good fenders,glass, n42 head and a cracked motorsport front airdam that i left on the car. Rex

Welcome, There are a few guys from San Diego on this forum. Give the z club of San Diego a try. The club meets the first Tuesday of every month. As far as the dash goes it's pretty straight forward job. I use sandwich baggies to keep track of nuts and bolts use a sharpie on the bags and label as you go. the junk yards in San Diego still have a consistant supply of z cars however the turnover at ecology has slowed way down the past year. Also a great place for all your nut and bolt needs is a company called Marshalls Hardware. On Craiglists check out a guy thats calls himself zman he's in La Mesa and has a lot of decent z parts for sale all the time. have fun with the z rex

What parts were correct is simpler. the oil seal,chain guides and chain looked correct. Everything else was not correct for a l24 to l28 engine.. rex

Be carefull buying a l28 timing kit from innerfire engine parts. The kit has the wrong parts and the guy (Johnny) keeps on selling them. The picture and description look good and the price was great at 50 dollars. I have to give Johnny credit where due, after several emails of me explaining that the kit was not correct i was refunded in full.. However the price was to good to be true in the end.. Rex

Pick Your Part or Ecology 20 dollars with a 3 core charge. A valve cover is one of the easeist of all parts to find. Rex

I have a 77 620 it's a great little truck, good for junk yard runs and small dump runs. A few things to understand the 620's had 4 wheel drums untill 78 and with a 1.6 ltr hill climbing with any load sucks. might as wheel get out and push the truck. My 77 has a lb20 and front & back disk brakes, you might want to look at ratson.com. a few suggestions disc brakes upfront, a zx 5 speed tranny and find a l20b when it's time to rebuild the l16. The price is right judging by the pictures. rex

I was thinking about the ebay radiator or the Motorsport radiator also. I went with zraceproducts radiator and added his custom fan shroud with a electric fan. great fit and good quality, hope this helps rex

I believe the larger fonte Nissan valve cover is slightly taller than the other valve covers. rex

Wow, That makes me feel even more lucky to live in San Diego. We have 3 Ecologys and a huge pick your part that has a steady supply z parts. There has'nt been a fresh 240z in Ecology for 2 weeks now, thats a long time for our local yards. rex

Saw the movie Sunday and was suprised that i really liked it.. There was even some applause from the crowd at the end. The only thing i did'nt like was the Spritle Giving the finger to the evil corperate guy. I read speed did 20.2 million in it's first weekend and cost like 120 million to make. I'm 40 and watched Speed Racer everyday after school with my buddies than we would play ball untill dark. Speed Racer and Dodger baseball life was so good back in the days of a 10 ten year old. rex

ztrain what are you looking for? there's are like 5 or 6 620's in ecology in chula vista. i know what you mean about 620 parts it seems that the trucks get picked over much faster than the z cars. rex

Keith your at the wrong forum for that type of question. Anyway a few helpfull pointers for you to get your part collection started. 1. google 3.1 ltr datsun, be prepared to spend hours reading and learning. 2. Hybridz again a wealth of information. good luck rex

Wow you guys in washington drive that far for a wrecking yard with a few z cars!! i guess i have it pretty good living 5 minutes from ecology and brown field in san diego.My problem is i have to many extra z parts that i have collected over the years. rex

Hi snowflake, try father joe's and the other auction yards at brown field. i bought a running 83zx turbo for 185 a few years ago. watch craigs list daily good deals go quick. if you see a ad for a 73 z with triple carbs at 163 and clairmont mesa don't waste your time the car is a rust bucket. keep your eyes open good deals have away of finding you. rex

im in/out of the junk yards all the time and the $^!# i see people stealing. is pathetic.if a business is selling a service/product and you take it without paying for it thats theft. my doctor friend whom just bought a 3.1 ltr from rebollo last month was caught stealing parts at ecology in chula vista last year. he can spend 8000 for the rebollo but no 15 for the oil pump.. oh!! He was embarrassed as hell, the secruity gurads told him to pay up or the police will be called. If i owned a junk ward i would have a scale and weight the customers before and after leaving the yard. it's amazing the weight people gain in a short amount of time. rex

im in and out of the wrecking yards twice a week and the things i see people stealing is crazy. theft is theft justifey it to yourself all you want. if it's not yours and you take it than pay for it, a few years ago my doctor friend whom can buy a 8000 3.1 ltr from rebello got caught at ecology with parts in his pockets. they told him to pay up or the police will be called. to say the least he was embarrased as hell. if i owned a wrecking yard i would have a scale at the entrance weighting people before and after leaving the yard. to see how much weight they have gained in a hour or two. rex

my 71 with a 83 turbo swap gets 16.5-17.5, i have a jim wolf ecu and 3 inch exhaust,boost is set at 9.5 lbs. rex

zhead240, ya there the jdm style still in the boxes with hardware and instructions. this set was purchased privately from a older z owner in san diego. i was driving buy his house and noticed his series 1 z in the garage we started talking and i noticed the light covers on a shelf. he had a set on his 70z, he remembered paying somthing like 85 dollars for them in the late 70's. Actually on ebay right now there is the aluminum ring with no bids and lessthan 2 days left. rex

After looking for a few years i finially found a never used still in orginal boxes jdm light covers. i paid probley a fair price (600) i have seen used sets going for 500-600 on ebay so i think it was a fair deal. finially the finishing touch for my z. rex

Hi Rob welcome to the forum first of all... i have a 71 series 2 with a l28et, set at 11 lbs of boost the car dynoed at 212 horsepower and 229 lbs of torque at sea level in san diego. thats 100% stock with only a boost controller and the pop off valve being removed . My costs maybe a 800 dollars for the drivetrain, another 1500 for the suspension about 600 for the toyota/240sx disk break swaps. good luck rex
