  1. It would have been installed at the factory but almost all (all that I have seen on US cars) were removed at the US port or at the dealership before they were sold. Sent from my SM-T377P using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  2. 105 was listed and sold via a craisglist ad. It was never on BAT. Sent from my SM-G935P using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  3. Yes, Nissan used red oxide primer. It looks like that car was originally 907 green (the only green in 1970) with tan interior (tan only came with green exterior cars in 1970). Clearly based on the overspray on the car it has been repainted at least once. No, the two tone seats are not stock. There were no seating options. The seat vinyl color should match the rest of the interior. The rear yellow sway bar is aftermarket. North American cars didn't come with rear sway bars until 1974 I believe. However, Japanese market cars did have rear sway bars from the beginning of production.
  4. Looks like an original green car to me. The rear strut towers are covered in tan vinyl, not orange paint, and the sanded through areas on the body is red oxide primer.
  5. Manny, I received my tags today and I second AZ-240z's assessment. They are perfect reproductions. Thanks! -Mike
  6. Dan, I think you are right that there should be six tags. I'll have to check my #32 car to see if that is the case for early cars too, but I think it is. Regarding the seat belt date, I would say 12/70 would probably be correct for a 1/71 production car. The components were typically built a month or two before the production date of the car itself and I don't think I've see a set of seat belt tags with a date that is the same month as the car was built. -Mike
  7. I don't know about the Y or D on the side, but for the late 1971 and up it looks like the Lot No is a manufacturing date code of DDMM. Your 0512 would have been made on December 05, 1971. Jerry's 0503 would have been made on March 05, 1972. My 2504 would have been made on April 25, 1972 (it's a May 1972 production car).
  8. I'd be interested in a set. I need to check what I have on my cars to confirm the date, but I think all my have 9/69 dated tags. -Mike
  9. You're right Carl. It was a typo, I meant #237. Does the same collector in GA that bought #238 from WA own it again? I thought that car was sold a few times after he liquidated most (if not all) of his Z cars several years ago.
  10. Congrats on winning the car Phuong. I made a cursory initial bid, but then decided I should just focus on the couple of project 1969 production cars I already have. One is a 901 silver similar to yours (#238), so I decided I didn't really need another early silver car. I'm planning on getting that car acid dipped this summer and then starting body work on it this fall or next year. You are right, they are still out there to be found. I found three local to me an one in NJ via Hemmings. The key is finding one as complete as you can. Yours is missing a few things but has many of the unique early items. A few reproduction items are available now and some are easier to source than others. I'll be eagerly awaiting your posts after you get the car. I should start a thread of my own regarding the last 1969 car I found a couple of years ago (#480). In spite of the higher vin # I think it was one of the first 20 cars to arrive in the US in LA in Jan 1970. It would have been on the same boat as the #492 car that BRE received and built into their first 240Z race car.

    Series I antenna

Hi Kats, that's interesting. I think I only had the plastic interior panels off my 1972 once, since they are so hard to get on and off without breaking, so I don't recall. I thought all the 70 - 73 antennas mounted like your orange 12/71, with a non-removable bolt on the side of the hatch floor and they have a small wingnut on the other side. Maybe someone else with a 1972 or 1973 could confirm.
  12. Here's an old thread where Kats asked the same question. It seems his March 1970 car may have not had the chain originally.
  13. Jerry, I don't think any of my 1969 production cars have the chain (highest VIN is #480). I have #32 (HLS30) in the garage and just confirmed it doesn't have the chain. The other cars are stored at another garage so I would have to wait until the next time I'm out there to confirm on those. I can't recall when the chain was added other than sometime in 1970.

    Series I antenna

My 5/72 production car, has 40,000 miles and the original pointed tip antenna, It is the exact same antenna as far as I can tell as my four 1969 production cars and my 1970 Z-L. I don't think there are any differences in original antennas up through 1973 at least.

How is that different than an antennea out of a 70 to 73? Sent from my SM-T377P using Classic Zcar Club mobile

What is a "series 1 antenna"? Sent from my SM-T377P using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  18. I may have an extra 2000 OHC valver cover. I ended up buying two from Japan for my own 1970 Fairlady Z. Sent from my SM-G935P using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  19. This is the best of the two cars I have stored at another garage. I can try taking some straight on pictures this weekend if that would be better. Sent from my SM-G935P using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  20. I used a heat gun on the first, which is why it shrunk a bit in the lower corner. I think I used a hair dryer for the second. Other than the damaged spot they are the same measurements as the one on my blue car I posted last week. If you want to wait until this weekend i can try to take pictures of the other two cars that still have decals on them. If not, thats fine too. I'll PM you my address. Sent from my SM-G935P using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  21. Ok, here are scans of two decals. They both got damaged a bit removing them, so I hope they are good enough. The first one (with more heat damage at the lower right corner) came from my HLS30-00210 car, and I think is more representative of the shine that the foil originally had. I have three early cars that I believe still have the decals on the hood, so if taking a photo is preferred let me know, and I'll do my best. It seems like several people are interested in these, so hopefully you can make extras and sell them to members here. -Mike
  22. I measured the two decals i removed from cars and one was 3 9/16" wide and the other was 3 1/2" wide. Both were 2 3/4 tall. I'll see if I can scan them tonight. Sent from my SM-G935P using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  23. Thanks for the offer Dan, but I don't want you to have to worry about this while you're recovering. It sounded like 240ziggy has the ability to reproduce these. Yours turned out great. Maybe ziggy can post a pic of something similar that he has done in the past. I think you mentioned previously that it took a lot of effort on your part to get the font and metalic foil right. I'll post the requested pictures this weekend and have an original I can mail out if needed. Hope you have a speedy recovery Dan. Sent from my SM-G935P using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  24. I measured the decal on my HLS30-00032 car this morning and it's 3 9/16" wide by 2 3/4" tall. I'll check the ones I removed from other cars tonight or tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G935P using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  25. I have a couple originals i removed from cars. I'll measure tonight and see if i can post a scan. I'd be interested in 4 reproductions, Sent from my SM-T377P using Classic Zcar Club mobile
